We booked this place based on the low price and the location. The price was indeed good value but even so we were very disappointed with the presentation of the holiday villa. Firstly, we'd booked a room at Alfresco based on its location. So when we learned we were in the holiday villa which is a fifteen minute walk across town, that was a surprise. The villa itself was a good size but the general presentation is not good. It's very dated and desperately needs decorating and refurnishing; even at the low price we paid I feel it needs work. It's cluttered and very grubby. We asked for a baby cot which was provided and found it to be moldy.

Having been spending New Year in Reefton for number of years. Found this awesome house to stay in when our friends sold their holiday home there.
This historic house has all the things you need for a great stay..3 bedroom...beds and bedding are just like home, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, bbq and separate living room.
Hosts are wonderful people.
Is located on main street and is across the road from the camping ground.
Everything is walking distance, so park up and enjoy.
Reefton is a great place to stay, great walks, mountain bike tracks, fishing, golf course... Also gives easy access to other parts of the West Coast.
Reefton has Supervalue and IGA suoermarkets that are well stocked & good prices.
So, check it out and enjoy

Stayed in Reefton to visit a relative. We arrived on the evening of the Rugby World Cup Final and Paula was very accommodating - we had pizza in our room watching the final which was great after a long journey. The house is over 100 years old and very impressive. We slept well, the room was secure, warm and clean and we would stay again. We enjoyed our stay at Alfresco, Paula was very friendly and we enjoyed visiting the town.

We stayed at the villa right next to the restaurant and I would not recommend it to anyone. It was filthy. Ironically the toilet, sinks and basins were clean as were the tea towels but everything else was disgusting. The doors and cupboards were covered in stains and filth, the kitchen cupboards were sticky and full of spider webs, dead flies and smelt. We had to wash any crockery up that we wanted to use and there was only one pan with a handle.
There was a broken window in the lounge with a large hole in it (luckily it was hot so it didn't matter for warmth). The wifi didn't work, nor the TV. After a slightly stressful holiday all up this was our last stop and I didn't have the energy to complain to the owner so I can't comment on what the response would have been however when a property is so engrained with dirt (all the windows, woodwork, sills and carpets etc) I don't think a lot could have been achieved whilst we were staying there.

The rooms in this wooden villa are very attractive with functional on suites. Hot water at great pressure is available. Included is a lounge with TV. The attached
kitchen with coffee, tea and sugar plus cooking appliances is very handy. All in all an excellent place to stay.

Whoops!!!! We were advised to try the adjoining villa next door to Alfresco pizza eatery. The whole place stank of stale air and was very dirty. Beds were squigy, saggy. Bathrooms left a lot to be desired. Yes, it was cheap but basic cleaning and removal of cob webs is no excuse. Broken window in sitting area, filthy fire and dog poo outside. Not good. Pizzas next door were tolerable.

Stayed in a 1970s style budget flat, very poorly maintained and with no attention to detail at all Booked this online for my family (my husband and I plus our 3 children)Curtains did not close properly, Bedside lamps not working, No sugar for coffee. Cupboards were a mess. and not enough cutlery for our family. The only positive was it was quiet and warm.

We weren’t staying in one of the historic villas, but Infact a dingy, mouldy old house that either needs significant repairs and upgrading, or A bulldozer through it.

The bathroom:
Shower door is broken, Lino is peeling from the floor and there are spiders EVERYWHERE! You walk around in here and your feet will turn black from all the dust.

The kitchen:
Although the facilities were good I wouldn’t use the pots and pans that have been in those cupboards. Plenty of space but also plenty of dust, spiders and musty smells.

The bedrooms:
There are a total of 3 bedrooms in the house. The bed I slept in was comfortable but the sheets and pillows were rather stinky and there was strange fluffy stuff everywhere.

Overall the place is a massive disappointment for how much you are paying. No matter where you stay, no matter the price you are paying should you be forced to sit on the doorstep because the musty smell in the lounge and dining room is unbearable. There are also 1990’s TVs in every room which is extremely outdated and gives it a kind of creepy feel. I also found an old pair of glasses on the dining table. Really needs a huge clean out.

One other thing is that the ‘cottage’ is right on the road edge so you have people showing up at the door at all hours wanting to order food, even though the restaurant is next door which is incredibly frustrating. Please put a sign on the fence or something to direct people to the restaurant.

Now some positives-yay!
The owner lady is very friendly and easy to talk to and the food at the restaurant is great and comes out fast.

I had booked and paid for an ensuite superior room and instead were taken to a large house that was rather smelly. After some confusion we walked around to question the booking and were told 3 bookings came in all together and she thought we would be happy with the house. She was very pleasant to deal with. I did ask why no one explained that when we arrived or tried to contact us prior to our arrival. We were then offered a room in another house, which was nothing like the description in the booking. We decided to stay in the house. We had to ask for the bathroom to be cleaned, bins to be emptied and heating to be turned on. There was nothing supplied to clean or dry the dishes with either. Now after reading other reviews I can see we aren’t alone. There are lots of other accomodation in town to book. This would be my first negative review. I think they just need to be honest in what they are booking.
