We were warmly welcomed by Cecilie and her sweet dog Lottie in our short stay at Rutland Water. The very comfortable, self-contained studio flat is perfectly located, very close to Rutland Water which is easily accessible via Cecilie’s garden. Cecilie’s hospitality was second to none and we enjoyed a great breakfast that she provided each morning. We recommend staying with this charming host.

Cecile is a very welcoming, helpful hostess. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable, in a beautiful location, with access to Rutland Water; ideal for cycling or walking. The flat offers good facilities for self- catering but there are many local pubs serving great food and local ales. We highly recommend the flat and are looking forward to our next stay!

We were escaping the mania of London for a weekend, and the Coach House was a perfect choice. Cecilie is a fantastic, personable and welcoming host who made a lot of effort to make the stay comfortable. Located in a small village near the shores of Rutland Water, the Coach House is not a bland B&B but an intimate and unique country house, complete with piano room, reading lounge, dining room and croquet lawn with a view of the lake. We were cooked up a mountainous breakfast and enjoyed the weekend sailing and dinners in the local pubs recommend by our host.

Difficult to fault!

Our second visit to this lovely spot. The twin room was as comfortable as ever with the unusual experience of sheets and blankets on the beds. My only complaint was that for £95 for 2, we would have thought that a small sachet of soap and shampoo might have been provided rather than the used bar of soap in the shower and at the basin!

We've just returned from a two night stay at the Old Hall Coach House in Edith Weston and cannot recommend it highly enough. Set in a peaceful location within the village, it is, without doubt, one of the loveliest B&Bs we have stayed in. The house is set in beautiful grounds with easy access to the lakeside path and beautiful views of Rutland Water. It is ideally located for those wishing to explore the area by bike or car. The sailing club is also within easy walking distance. Cecilie Ingoldby is an excellent hostess, providing a cheerful, friendly welcome. During our stay, nothing was too much trouble. The house oozes quality and style throughout, with great attention to detail. Our (double) room was beautifully decorated/furnished and the newly refurbished en-suite bathroom was immaculate. Even the bed sheets were stylish - white Egyptian cotton with cutwork design. Breakfast was delicious - good selection of fresh fruit, breads, cereals etc plus a cooked English breakfast. It was also very sociable with ourselves and the two other guests sitting around a large oval dining table chatting for what seemed like hours. Cecilie is a real 'people person' and enjoys conversing with her guests. Having lived here for 36 years, she has an excellent knowledge of the local area. £45 per person per night is very good value considering the superb quality and location of the property. We could not fault our stay and will definitely return.

Just back from another excellent stay at the Old Hall Coach House for a sailing event at Rutland. Rooms and breakfast are lovely + its only a 3 minute walk to the sailing clubhouse and a 2 minute walk to the village pub. Add in a large utility room for drying kit and a large garage for storing sails and I don't think there is better accommodation at a sailing venue anywhere I have been.

The Old Hall Coach House is a handsome building in a lovely situation, quiet and close to Rutland Water. It is filled with lovely antiques, furniture and art items. We stayed in the twin room, which was lavishly decorated in a Chinese style, with a superb bathroom (we particularly liked the underfloor heating) However, we arrived in the late afternoon on a cold and wet day and the room was very chilly so we had to get into bed (with the thoughtfully provided electric blankets on) to stay warm until it was time to go up to the local pub for a meal. The other disappointment was that there was no shower gel or shampoo provided and the soap came in the form of well-used old bars. Not nice. Breakfast was OK.

My wife and I have just returned from a weekend that can only be described as totally outstanding. If you want to stay at a place where you get lovely rooms which are spotlessly clean with fantastic service this is the place for you. We were made to feel so at home,to the point where after only the fist night I found myself helping my host to clear the breakfast table without realising what I was doing. The breakfast was cooked on demand as soon as we walked in in the morning and was delicious. However the thing that made my trip so different than any other English B&B was the lady who owns it. I could have spent hours listening to her fantastic stories about all manor of things, in fact I did normally over breakfast. I will defiantly be returning and would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks for a great weekend Cecilie.

The wonderful warm greeting from Cecilie and Lotte on arrival sets the tone for the whole stay. A friendly, relaxing atmosphere to enjoy either a well earned short break or a longer holiday should you wish to try and fit in all the local attractions and amenities close by. Extremely clean and tidy throughout, the house offers numerous options to sit and relax overlooking the immaculate gardens or admiring the views on to Rutland Water. A comfortable bed and luxurious walk-in shower rounds off a perfect stay and once again made this a great place to get away from it all on my countrywide travels. Thank you.

I stay in many B&Bs for sailing events and this is without a doubt my absolute favourite! You are immediately welcomed by the lovely and chatty Cecilie and her puppy, who is always eager to help you in any way possible. The house and rooms are beautiful and the beds are really comfortable; the underfloor heating in the bathroom is a godsend after sailing! It is a short (no more than five minutes) walk away from Rutland Sailing Club, or a couple of minutes’ drive, and there is a place to dry kit indoors. For meals, you can walk to the nearby pub which is popular, or you can ask Cecilie for her recommendation and head into Stanford, which is charming. There are beautiful gardens, and the breakfast is exquisite! I thoroughly recommend staying here, I would never go anywhere else, and find myself making every excuse I can to visit.
