Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in the A frame cabin, had everything we could have needed. The kids loved the playground area, gold panning and especially the swing down by the river. Beautiful location. Jane did an amazing job at making sure all our needs were met. It was our first time visiting but we will definitely be back!!

My girlfriend (who had never camped before) and I had an amazing stay here, camped down by the river. The river itself is a marvel with rock pools and swimming holes aplenty. The new owner, Jane, made us most welcome and we will certainly be going back again soon.

As a young fella growing up, the big highlight of the year was the annual holiday at Dansey Pass Holiday Camp. My brother mother and myself loaded into the car to be taken to Danseys as it was usually called by father who unfortunately couldn’t stay as his job meant he had to return to Timaru. However my brother and I soon had our togs on and towel in hand set off to check on the 2 swimming holes and see whether they had changed at all from the previous year.
This was the norm for many years until the arrival of our sister who then, like us looked forward to the annual holiday.
Having not visited now for probably 40+ years I must make a pilgrimage one weekend and check it out.
No hesitation in recommending it to anyone who wants a quiet time away.

A very nice and hidden spot - perfect for staying a few days.
Do not miss swimming in the swim holes :-)
The stuff is very friendly, the ammenities are a bit aged but clean and in order.
This place is a good base for crossing Danseys Pass - it‘s worth!

We were pleasantly surprised at just how beautiful this spot is. As it was the first time we had been there we didn't know what to expect of the journey to the park but we found the 2 hour journey through the country side interesting. It is worth the travel from both Dunedin or Christchurch. as it is definitely a "hidden gem" With the sun beating down it was a picture of green and tranquility with spectacular rugged surroundings. The hosts, Jordan and Joe, are very friendly and will make sure you have a great stay. The cabins are set in a plateau between the hills and the river. The kitchen facilities have everything you need. Great spot to bring the family for a weekend or holiday. It is also has facilities for corporate events and weddings as they have a great marque that can be hired. We plan on going back for another visit next year.

What a stunning location. Right on the banks of a river all the cabins are around the central children's play area. There is also a beautiful quaint cabin on the river edge. It is an older resort but has everything you need, great showers and facilities. Really lovely owners and a pristine location (no cell or wifi) even my teenagers were keen to come again so we are booked in the holidays! Near the elephant rocks and other nature attractions. Cant wait to come back in summer!

We spent three days at Danseys Pass Holiday Park in the Riverside Cottage, almost immediately I began to relax and really enjoy being in the middle of this little piece of paradise. Perfect for families with swimming holes , a swing rope and flying fox, very clean with good amenities and the hosts are really friendly and non intrusive.
If you really want to get away from it all , (there is no cell phone or wifi coverage) then this is the place.
