Detailed Reviews
We stayed at Lodge 9 for 3 nights as part of a father and son diving getaway (through Dive Tukukaka. See seperate review).
We were welcomed, shown around and made to feel at home by Kate. The lodge has been beautifully decorated throughout, from the shared dining/living area to the rooms. Lost of small touches like Nespresso and filtered water tap in rooms. Super comfy beds (we were in the Kiwi Room). Great wifi. And then of course there were the breakfasts - wake to the smell of fresh baked bread and a spread of fresh fruit, juices, yoghurt etc etc. And all the amenities there for bbq and self catering. We, along with other family/friends, will definitely be back

Hi Ant, It was great to have you and your son here, and neat that you dived together. Stoked you like the Lodge, and that bread is the best smell to wake up too! Look forward to having you back, and spending some more time on the Tutukaka Coast - it is a really handy base. So much to explore here. =) x Kate

Lodge 9 was the perfect location for friends & family attending an event at Shed 7. We could accommodate older family members, little ones & those who wanted to party. Everything was immaculate. It felt special & yet so comfortable like you were at home. We are going back!

Thank you! I'm pleased the event worked well, it certainly was designed to be a tropical resort space for whanau gatherings, Jeroen said he wanted to create his own marae feel. x Love to have you all back, x Kate

We had a wonderful stay. Everything is beautifully presented- the rooms, the communal area, the outdoor area, the breakfast. Kate is friendly and welcoming. It’s fabulous being on site at Dive Tutukaka- it was soooo nice to come back from a hard day diving and have a luxury room right there to relax in.
We had the Tui room upstairs, with a private balcony set right up against the NZ native bush. We saw kereru, Tui and piwakawaka.
Wonderful place to stay. We will be back!

Kia ora OshXman, The birdlife is so cool in this valley, and the tui song is incredible. Thanks for the reminder on how special our wee locals are! We try to make it too easy, so you will come back...not having to walk too far is key. It's a great dive holiday, and pretty convenient to be next door. =) Hope to see you again, x Kate

We had the pleasure of staying at the lodge on two occasions this month and had a fabulous stay with Kate.
The accommodation is high quality from the rooms with plush fittings to the amazing lounge and kitchen area where you can relax.
Its a real credit to Kate and team that although the venue opened four years ago it feels like a brand new throughout.
You do not have to dive to stay here as its tucked away from roadside and well worth the visit.
We will be back👍

The perfect place to relax and unwind. The rooms are spacious and the entire lodge is very well thought out. Kate has a real knack for detail: from the furnishings to the boutique teas and coffees, to the selection of books, Lodge 9 has all the character of a family Bach combined with the style and comfort of a luxury hotel. Well set up for winter, the Lodge has a gas fireplace, heat pumps in the rooms and a sauna and pool. Great dining options are a short walk away- Snappa Rocks was excellent and Marina Pizza as good as it gets. We will be back!

Thank you so much for joining us, and also for taking the time to review - we really appreciate that. x You will need to come back in summer, when the pool is a perfect suntrap, and the courtyard is ideal for an afternoon beer and a BBQ. I love the description of a family bach and a luxury hotel. I may steal that!! x Love to see you back here, Kate

This is my second time staying at Lodge 9 and I can't fault it. Beautiful furnishings and a super relaxing space. The breakfast is always delicious with lots of tasty fresh options, and the coffee machine in the room is a real treat. The pool area is a great place to relax and unwind and it's only a short walk to the nearby restaurants. I'll definitely be back.

Lodge 9 is my favourite place to stay in Aotearoa. The details are amazing, full of style , the artwork all around and every detail from the soaps on the bathroom to the generous breakfast spread that miraculously appears each morning this place is special. But most of all Lodge 9 is about manakitanga and the staff make guests feel extra special.

I recently stayed at Lodge 9 and it was a truly delightful beachside boutique experience. Tucked away off the busy strip, but close to four restaurants and just across the street from the port made it a perfect location for my diving trip. The room was tastefully decorated, offering a blend of comfort and coastal elegance. The staff at the dive shop checked me in and she was warm and attentive, making me feel welcome. The best part was the epic breakfast! There was a variety of healthy and delicious options to choose from and enough to fill my tank for the day. Overall, a wonderful stay that combined luxury, tranquility, and the beauty of a coastal escape. Thanks Lodge 9!!

I cannot say enough good things about Lodge 9! The accommodations are beautifully decorated - simple and elegant with a coastal flair. The room was very comfortable with subtle touches like heated towel racks to really elevate the experience. But, the best part of the whole stay was Kate and her faithful co-host Stan (her lovely dog)! Kate is the most gracious of hosts and was there to greet us upon arrival, make sure all our needs were taken care of, and provided the most amazing breakfast! She modestly undersold it as "continental"; it was anything but - freshly made bread baking in the morning, soft-boiled eggs, fruit, muesli & the list goes on. When we came back from our snorkel trip Kate made sure to have the fire going and the sauna on so we could get properly warm - yet another example of her hosting skills ;).
Stay here when you visit Tutukaka - you will not be disappointed!

Hi nzp0ppy,
Love to have you book with us. You can check out our site for a walkthrough video, but in a nutshell, the Tui and the Toroa rooms are upstairs with a private balcony each. The Kiwi and Fantail are inner rooms that have a king and a single and can sleep three, and the Kereru and Robin rooms are front rooms with extra windows. All have ensuites and amenities including Nespresso machines, and all have air-con and springwater.
Let me know if you have any other questions,
x
Kate
