It was atrocious weather during our stay but Burns Lodge was warm, immaculately clean and very affordable. We were free to cook onsite and breakfast was provided. Sue and Bronwyn were incredibly helpful and hospitable hosts. Lovely to have our own separate lounge to enjoy socializing with our friends. Ensuite rooms were large and beds very comfortable. Plenty of linen provided. WIfi was free with excellent reception. Our friends were amazed at the size of this historic building. Plenty of off street parking which was useful as we had E bikes on board. It does however take a bit of time to orientate yourself! We will definitely recommend it to others who are looking for a group venue.
Friendly, obliging, and professional 24 hour service. Comfortable on site bed and breakfast - a variety of packages to choose from. It is worth coming from other parts of New Zealand for this venue. Really reliable free WI-FI in every area. Well done Burn's Lodge!
Lovely warm units with comfy bed and amenities. All we needed before early wakeup call . Staff very obliging as we would have been too early for the continental breakfast which was included in cost, which was very reasonable.
Stayed here over Queens Birthday weekend 2018. Purpose was a conference at the venue so booked early and stayed onsite. Good decision as it was cold, -5C overnight most nights, saved a brisk walk to other accommodation close by. Room was basic is design but very warm with the heating. Free WiFi was very good with speeds. Food was average but adequate. Easy to find and on site parking. Would stay there again. Close enough to the airport but out from the city so unless you have a car then may not suit you. Is within walking distance of Mosgiel shopping centre with a good Countdown close by.
Stayed for 1 night, great location, quick and easy to get into Dunedin. The building is beautiful! Very good value for money, friendly staff and breakfast included. Stayed in C block which had shared bathroom facilities - all very clean but can get noisy. Would definitely stay here again, but in another room.
We were booked here by a local for a two night stay. With super comfy beds, warm rooms and friendly staff, having to share a bathroom and shower made up for it. Only complaint was the early morning door bangs as guests started moving about. Will be staying again when I’m in Dunedin though!
We had a friend book this for us. Upon arrival we were quite sceptical on what we had ended up being booked into. But after 2 nights we found some positives. Number 1 - the beds, they were so comfortable and warm. The showers had great pressure and hot which made up for sharing the showers. The rooms were very clean and tidy. Probably the one thing I missed was perhaps a jug and coffee making facilities in the room. Great stay overall.
This place was terrific. A wide range of rooms at a reasonable price. Includes continental breakfast. Exceptionally clean. Coffee and tea provided. Off street parking. Couldn't be any nicer. Check in was a bit slow, but got the guided tour and could find our way around.
I booked a room at Burns Lodge because it is close to Dunedin Airport (15 min drive) and I had an early morning departure. I expected Burns Lodge to be similar to a typical airport hotel but I was pleasantly surprised to discover the rich history of the place and the warm hospitality of the staff. Upon check-in, I was given a brochure which describes the heritage of the lodge and includes a map and a list of facilities. Wandering around the lodge and visiting the beautiful chapel and function rooms were half the fun of the stay. There is free towel, free wifi and free breakfast (bread, cereals, fruits), and there is also ample parking outside the lodge. If I visit Dunedin again I would love to stay here again.
A Bed and Breakfast with a difference. Rooms are within a historical religious building which provides an ambience of Italian Renaissance. Reception on arrival was very friendly and welcoming, with the receptionist also taking the time to show you around the building to orientate and indicate where various facilities are. Indeed, all the staff encountered throughout my time there was very friendly and welcoming. Given that I was under the impression that it was a Catholic Monastery, I had expected the rooms to be monastic, and in some sense, they are. However, it also pleasantly contained all the usual requirements found in modern motel rooms, including a microwave, mini fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. The room also had a large comfortable lounge chair, and a single bed. Something I have not slept in for many years due to my height, but very comfortable albeit curled up. Room also had a simple ensuite, with complimentary toiletries supplied (another surprise). Sadly however, the bathroom window could not be opened, which may for somebody else may result in a temporary less than pleasant atmosphere. It does however have an extractor fan (operated by the light switch). Complementary free Wi-Fi is also provided, although the Lodge also has an internet room. Breakfast provided was of a continental type, with more choices on offer than you usually get, to keep everybody happy. Lodge also has conference and meeting facilities, and of course a Romanesque style Chapel available for weddings or other religious meetings. Very definitely a person worth staying at.…
