We thought this was a good place to stay with the high points being the friendliness of the staff and the great breakfast. The place isn't luxurious but has all that one would need - nice towels, comfortable mattress. We had a room facing the front of the building and the view wasn't picturesque but it was interesting. The heating is quite basic with electric oil filled heaters, but we didn't need heating so that wasn't an issue. The bathroom did have funny vinyl type walling which may not be the most attractive but I suppose is easy to keep clean.

We were aware that the Swordfish Inn might not the quietest place to stay, and the fact that there is no secondary or double glazing did concern me a bit. But as long as you don't plan on having a very early night it was really not a problem, and as it happened all the persons in our group had a good night's rest.

Of course we popped into the pub downstairs and we found the reception both by staff and clients friendly.

You pick your choices for breakfast on a list which you put outside your room as well as the time you are coming down.

Re the breakfast, I am a bit fussy about sausages, but I needn't have worried as the sausages were good quality and the whole breakfast was well cooked and not greasy so top marks there! Tea etc was free flowing.

Breakfast was included in the price, but I see from the sign outside that one can have breakfast even if not staying here; for the price (IIRC 8.50) is good value for the quality of the breakfast.

If you want somewhere comfortable that has character and a friendly atmosphere I can definitely recommend the Swordfish Inn.

What a fantastic place!
Hubby and I booked to stay the night due to us attending a birthday party in nearby Moushole and we were absolutely delighted with the warm welcome by the staff and locals.
Our room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. A fan was provided too!
Breakfast was cooked to perfection and the lady serving us was very attentive and friendly.
We will definitely be visiting again soon

The Swordfish in Newlyn is fiesty, raucous, in your face and a brilliant laugh. Don't expect early nights but do expect a warm welcome and a good time!

There is a hearty breakfast served at 8.30am with lots of alternatives. The pub doesn't do evening food but you're very welcome to get a takeaway and eat it in the pub, they even provide cutlery. Lovetts is great for wine and lite snacks, Lewis does great fish and chips and The Bridge for Italian food. Lots of places were booked up for evening meals so worth reserving, even in February!

Rooms are clean, warm and cosy. Bear in mind you are right above the pub so it will be noisy till the pub closes.

Friday night is band night so if you don't want to get up dancing then probably best to go out!

Parking is a bit of a pain with a short stay car park right behind the pub, so you need to work the times out as you can't return after paying for 3 hours. Parking is free between 6pm and 8am.

Thank you to Helen and her team - Maggy, Georgeous George and Kim - for making us feel so welcome, it was a great stay.

We have stayed here before and found it decent and the breakfast particularly good. Newlyn also has more great restaurants nowadays. The only negative which has nothing to do with the accommodation is that if you not taking your car it can be difficult to get a taxi / Uber from here. Of course there is the Mousehole bus, but in this instance that wasn’t efficient use of time. There is a Beryl bike bay round the corner which may be useful for a future visit.

Had an overnight stay at the swordfish. Welcoming staff, well equipped room with decent shower and good quality towels. We enjoyed a delicious brekky which was generous and good quality ingredients including sauces! . Would recommend and return.

Staff very friendly on arrival and departure. Room was perfect for a our needs, plenty of space, storage and a good bathroom. Only issue is that this is obviously above a pub. You stay here expecting noise but we were surprised that with the window closed the noise died down at around 11pm and was quiet enough for us once we wanted to go to sleep; earbuds were provided if this would be a problem for you.
Didn’t check on booking so was surprised to see that breakfast was included in the price, it was served at 0830 and we are vegans so the options were limited to beans/toast/juice but given that it’s free it’s good value.
Good location, right on the main stretch through Newlyn and only a mile or so in either direction to Penzance and Mousehole.
£90 a night at very short notice was good value and we would stay again.

Were camping in Paul, and walked in. Found this place on a “ walk past” and saw they were serving food “ early” (11:00am).

The breakfast was superbly cooked, one of the best I’ve had in a long time, including my own! Coffee was great. They generally serve instant but offered us caffetiere coffee which was brewed to perfection.

Lovely staff too, great service. Proper Job😃

Centrally located this is a popular pub well supported by locals and fishermen. Live music on Friday evening with customers from all the generations. A wet pub offering a range of local real ales on pump.
Our room, Cribba, above the bar was spacious and clean. Two window seats looking over the fish market with glimpses of the harbour. A warm welcome by Maggie on our arrival. A no nonsense cooked English breakfast, perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. Very reasonable prices. A great base to explore Newlyn and only half hour walk to Penzance and St Michael's Mount beyond. Excellent choice of outstanding restaurants in the village.🇬🇧🇳🇿

Visited the Inn for afternoon drinks and a couple of hours in the sun, outside.

The Inn is far larger than its narrow street frontage suggests and is full of character. A good beer garden and they were showing a Rugby game, live, in a bar.

Beer was good, all very pleasant.
