Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Friendly hosts. Great amenities. Clean!! Plenty of showers and toilets. Showers coin operated with good pressure. Just couldn't regulate temp. Hosts did regular rounds of camp to check sites and people. Busy time of year so expected music. Annoying to have to get up in the wee hours to ask neighbors to turn music down. Loud music being played on another site from later in day each day which was irritating. I enjoy music but not for all the camp to hear (whether they wanted to or not). Dog friendly camp. Biggest turn off was the barking dogs in many areas of the camp when people went by and owners ignored them. This was a real let down as it's a gorgeous place otherwise. If I return I will be careful to choose a very quiet weekend when theres not many dogs about

Rome wasn't built in a day and new operators Nathan Cheryl and Jess are making giant steps to upgrade this popular camping spot. The newly renovated showers and toilet block look great and function well. We stayed here Labour and Show Weekend with family and friends all of whom enjoyed and will return. The Willows Cafe at Hororata Golf Club a chip and a putt away also has new owners and well worth a visit. A great place to relax.

Dissapointed by this site. No one in office to greet visitors- asked to leave $40 under a wet rag via intercom. Facilities were antiquated with 50c for shower just hot enough. Then loud music after midnight. We will be avoiding this site in future expect much better for the price.

Oldie but not a goodie.

There are the amenities you would expect but:
1) You cannot adjust the heat of your shower. It is on or off and it was bloody boiling. Have you caught the sun and want a nice cool shower? Tough. Hot is all you get.
2) You have to pay 50 cent for 4 minutes of showertime. I can understand limiting water use but doing that by requiring a 50 cent coin is poor. Charging for showers doesn't sit right but also requiring an actual coin? No thank you.
3) The kitchen benches (interior benches) have bird poo on them.
4) There is no bin in the kitchen, in fact there is only 1 bin in the whole park.

I have stayed at countless holiday parks and I don't expect much but this one just seemed to miss the basics.

Would not recommend.

Great place. Had an issue with a caravan user over filling their tank and flooding our tent site, management sorted our problems promptly, much appritiated. Shame have to pay to use showers. We will be back!

Very antequated and dated in it's facilities. For the price they're charging it lacks in a lot of areas. Nothing at all provided in the kitchen. Lacking in recycling facilities too. But of course it's the only campground in the area they kind of don't have to care too much really.

Beautiful big camp! Clean friendly and all you need to enjoy your stop. Lots of camping and quiet corners to feel by yourself! Swimming hole with rope swing, maybe a fish or 2 as well....Well priced and honours nzmca too. It's on the 72 scenic highway. Good after a long journey over Arthur's pass!
Thanks guys!

Loved our stay here, very spacious campground with lots of different areas to choose from especially if you are self-contained. Very clean facilities, fantastic shower, friendly hosts, river at the back of the camp with swimming holes and several walks along the banks. Definitely intend to return.
