Darfield Motels is a 13 unit Country Motel just 30 minutes from Christchurch. We offer a good range of rooms including our very popular "Cottage" which is like a home away from home. This is a 3-Bedroom unit with a large living area and big Kitchen. It has a large fridge/freezer with ice maker, full oven and 50' television. We have four 2-Bedroom units including two family units, Lodge and a two bedroom wheelchair access unit. These all have cooking facilities and are extremely comfortable units. Along with our six Studio units we also offer two Luxury units just recently built. One is a spa bath unit which is very popular for that romantic weekend away, while the other is our second access unit. At Darfield motels we offer free internet/wifi, free parking, free DVDs,free laundry facilities and we also have six sky channels in the rooms. Darfield is a close drive to many ski fields, air ballooning,fishing and golf courses. The town has two excellent restaurants along with a fabulous bakery. A great option if you are flying into Christchurch and wish to avoid the city we are just 25 minutes from the airport. Darfield Motels is a Four star Qualmark rated motel.

I recently stayed at Darfield Motel in Canterbury and was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness and comfort of the family unit I booked. The unit had two bedrooms: one with a queen bed and the other with three singles.
The kitchen was reasonably well-equipped, featuring a hotplate, microwave, electric frying pan, toaster, tea and coffee making facilities, a bar-sized refrigerator, utensils, cups, plates, dryer, microwave, iron, and ironing board. The living area included SKY TV and a DVD player, providing good entertainment options. As it was winter, I appreciated the more than adequate heating.
The motel's location is excellent for exploring Arthur’s Pass or the Ashburton Lakes area, which was my destination. Unfortunately, my plan to have breakfast at the famed Darfield Bakery, another reason for staying here, didn’t materialize as the place was closed that day.
All in all, Darfield Motel is a comfortable and clean place. Recommended.

A really nice middle of the road motel in a friendly, neat and tidy town. There is an excellent cafe-bakery just a short walk down the road and a very good chinese food take away a little further west. The town is very central for exploring the Canterbury area and the motel rooms are well stocked and comfortable.

We made a last minute booking by telephoning Wally who is c highly experienced and very willing to provide as much assistance as he can. We were booked into Unit 10 (after checking out a different Unit) - this was our choice as it suited our needs better. Wally was really helpful with recommendations for places to eat, a fabulous bakery and directions. Thanks Wally, we will be back tomorrow night - will give you a call.

Stayed in studio unit - everything you would need is supplied, all extremely clean. Wally and Gaylyn were lovely helpful owners. In fact dropped us off at the wedding and then came back to pick us up for free. Can't thanked them enough for their hospitality. There were others in the Motel complex for the wedding and all agreed you couldn't ask for more.

Great comfy room. The room was massive with lots of space. We also has a really nice spa bath that we used. Good instructions, easy to use and everything was nice and clean. The host was really friendly and gave us an awesome lunch recommendation of visiting the riverside market. We were in room 14 with the luxury spa bath unit.

We stayed at this hotel as it was pretty organized as part of a wedding we attended. We got the accessible room and it was great. Lovely spacious room, very clean. Great big bathroom. Being the accessible room the shower was walk in with a curtain and was quite nice. The owner was very lovely and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

This motel was easy to book, very clean, great beds and everything we wanted. the staff were exceptionally friendly. We only stayed for one night but would happily have stayed longer. The motel is close to local shops and garage. They were very helpful about our dog staying. great motel and would definitely stay again.

We stayed her on the first night of our recent bike tour to NZ. It was very clean and comfortable with lovely manuka products, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Friendly owner, who lent us an electrical adaptor for us to use.
