Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at Chester oaks for six days in January 2015 and I have to say I had a fabulous time Richard and Christine where the perfect hosts. They have a fabulous pool which you could access from the doors of our room, they have a pergola which we had many a BBQ in also a very nice log fire. They have a fabulous view which overlooks the small bridge and fish pond which I found amazing also you can walk around the gardens and have quality time just sitting in
the garden admiring the view. Richard and Christine where so helpful and obliging I plan on coming back again in the future. During my stay I got excessively sun burnt and Christine took me to the doctors
So I could get the treatment I needed there are not many people that would give this sort of service and I give them five star rating on all aspects of service.

During our breakfast my wife and I were shocked to hear that we might quite possibly be the last ones to ever stay in this amazing B&B. Richard and Christine were the perfect hosts. The facilities available at this gorgeous place are ridiculously good-> my wife and I had such great fun playing pool in Richard's man cave and watching a nice movie on the projector with the great home theatre system. The garden was gorgeously maintained with a cute little bridge and small pond. It's a pity we only had the one night stay here and we were so reluctant to leave!

Thanks Christine and Richard!

Jasmine is very welcoming, after the big arrival through the lovely grounds.

Clean and quiet, lots of parking.

Jasmin can be convince to make dinner, and is a superb chef of Chinese cuisine, fantastic!!!

Traditional big Kiwi breakfast is tailored to your diet needs and is scrumptuous.

West Melton location super if you like to be just away from the big city, and very close to Ruapuna Track.

We stayed here to complete our 3 week holiday in NZ and wow did we save the best to last. Richard and Christine are superb hosts and go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. Nothing too much trouble, help offered on all counts. Only wish we could return every year as it was a brilliant 3 nights and great place to base yourself to explore the local areas.

Had the pleasure of staying with Christine and Richard for the last three nights of our New Zealand stay and wow what a finish. An exceptional find, wonderful accommodation exactly as described (only better) perfect hosts in this glorious home. Nothing too much trouble. Facilities were excellent, pool very warm with swim towels provided on our sun lounges, the rooms opened up onto the beautifully manicured gardens which were vast and well worth time exploring. Breakfast was plentiful and included fruits from the garden and copious fresh coffee! The rooms were spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds and storage as was the bathroom.
All in all a jewel in the crown. Well done to you both for proving the final piece of luxury in this wonderful country.

Our first time staying at a B & B and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Room was spotless and I enjoyed the lovely linen and had a great nights sleep. Fantastic hosts that also go the extra mile. Felt very welcome and would definitely recommend it for a very relaxing get away.

I stayed at Chester Oaks B&B for two days in Jan 2015. From the moment we got there i felt very relaxed in the picturesque house and gardens that Richard & Christine have superbly looked after. They are excellent hosts in every aspect and i would throughly recommend a stay here to anyone in the Christchurch area. Their local knowledge and advice on what to do was also excellent. It was an absolute pleasure staying there and i will be back to visit in the near future and would recommend it to everyone!

Enroute from Christchurch to Arthur's Pass, we stayed only for one night in Jan 2015 at Richard and Christine's lovely property, which is exactly as pictured. Richard and Christine are warm and gracious and laid back hosts. After a long day's drive, it was really nice to relax over a game of pool and a beer on the house... and as a bonus for the next day, Christine even packed us a lunchbox for our journey. Could not really ask for more than that!

I had the pleasure of staying with Christine and Richard for one night in November and had an incredibly relaxing time! We couldn't have chosen a better place to get away from it all.

A wonderful afternoon walking around the gardens, swimming in the pool and relaxing in our beautiful room was topped off with friendly hosts who made us feel welcome and at home.

Being just outside town made it a wonderful location, to explore the city, yet also escape from it all. We will be telling all our friends about your lovely B&B and will definitely be back!!!
