Totally quirky and better than we imagined! The silos have been well designed to provide everything you need for a short stay. While relatively close together, they are individually oriented so that each one is very private from the other once you are inside. Basic cooking facilities for those who prefer to dine in. ( It's a shame that the...

This is an innovative concept that does not quite fulfil its promise. Life in a dustbin is not for everyone but we found the concept appealing. The design was innovative but it resulted in cramped accommodation especially in the upstairs bedrooms. The claim was that the apartments were serviced but they were not. There was also no representation on site...

This is certainly unusual, but compromises have been made to fit these units inside the silos. Most will find those compromises fun and quirky, others might find them inconvenient or annoying. For a stay of one night, it's OK, but there is almost no clothes storage space (other than a couple of coat hooks), and nowhere really to live out...

Being from a farm, myself and my parents were desperate to stay here. It was pricier than our usual accommodation whilst travelling around New Zealand, but we thought we would treat ourselves. We had the disabled access silo and were told that it would be cramped for three adults, but we had more than ample space. Every tiny detail has...

Stayed here for a night after having driven past a few hundred times. Biked out from Christchurch, 43km, good trip, and even better stay. Stewart's touch is everywhere, including in the "Silo Stay" notes that greet you on arrival. Beaut place - well worth the price.

Returning visit after previous experience .. this is truely unique, clever, and worth a stay, particularly if you like the unusual and looking for some good ideas. Not to everybodies taste, but could be a highlight if you like the unusual. Enter the silo, admire the quirky design, climb the metal stairs, open the roof and lie back to enjoy...

This is the last night of a 20 night stay in NZ , and this is the most inspirational place we have been to . The standard of fittings is superb , and the feel of the place is one of tranquillity with the spirit of modernism . I have seen these Silos on farm this is a much better...

Just stay here. There is so much written about this unique hotel on these pages there is little for me to add. We arrived here reasonably late in the evening and had reserved two silos for our family of four - they really are two person accommodations. You pick up your key from a lock box, the combination for which...

The eco features of the lodges are very nice. Most seem so simple, without compromising comfort, that we wondered why these features aren't more widespread. It's nice to see the industrial design theme worked all the way through, down to the light switches. The sky light even allows for sleeping under the stars! The location is a nice start for...

Have been eyeing this place up ever since they opened. Finally got to stay her last night. Absolutely superb. The whole concept is fantastic. A grain silo for a hotel unit. The industrial feel inside - tool cabinets as the kitchen cabinets, copper piping heated towel rails in the bathroom that heat up while you're in the shower. The environmental...
