What an awesome place to stay! It’s so quirky and so cool that you just can’t help smile when you walk in. The silos have been made in such a way that they are comfortable yet minimalistic. It’s amazing how they have manage to fit everything so well inside, and they are so comfortable. The owners are truly lovely also.

Absolutely amazing!!! 10/10!!!

From England travelling NZ for 5 months now, and the Silos have been the best place to stay by far!! Could not recommend enough.

Beautiful location in the rolling hills, beautiful hosts, beautiful set-up throughout the eco-homes, from the quirky, unique and fantastic style to the cute little fold to the toilet paper!! Excellent sleeping conditions even on a hot summers day, with the full use to a clean private kitchen, toilet and showers.

Perfect spot in Little River, with the cafe at ideal distance to roll out of bed to a scrumptious scrambled egg on toast in the morning, and the Little River Inn at a good stumble distance from the silos!!

Hosts and owner Rob really made me feel welcome, and on call for any questions or queries I had throughout my stay!
Can not wait to book in with the silo team for my next visit, will definitely be staying again!

Thank you Team Silo!!

We've wanted to stay here since we first saw it it built. And finally managed a 2 night stay this month!
A collection of 8 silos, converted into accommodation on 2 levels (1 is 1 level for disabled access). Ground floor is a well equipped kitchen and genius loo. Flush the loo, the tap on the handbasin above starts flowing, filling the cistern as you wash your hands. Shuts off automatically once full!
Upstairs is a bed and a shower/sink. The shower is clear glass which might not be to everyone's taste 😁. There is also a small balcony. Silo 8 overlooks trees and shrubs at the back of the property.
In the roof, there is a glass hatch through which you can see the stars.
The silo was very warm (even for a cold person like me) and cosy. We prearranged a platter for the first night, which comes with a bottle of bubbles. It was awesome and it actually lasted us both nights.
There is a cafe and general store to the left and a diner to the right. Both served up great breakfasts and coffee.
Well worth staying - our only question is 'what took us so long'
Rob the owner was great to chat to, as well. Hopefully will head back there 😁

This is such a quirky and fun place to stay right in the heart of Little River, that has got to be one of the gems of New Zealand. It was comfortable, warm and had a great shower and bathroom facility. The kitchen is fully stocked so you can cook a meal. We ordered the sourdough and butter to be there, fresh on arrival and it was delicious. Next door is a restaurant and the other way a superb cafe for lunch or breakfast, with a fabulous gallery attached. We rode the Bike Rail trail from here, and enjoyed the bays and lakes around. I will go back there. Thanks for looking after us!!

Stayed in this accommodation for one night only. Very unique, quirky & fun. It is next to Little River Cafe which serves a nice breakfast and does food until about 5pm. The Hilltop tavern a short drive away serves evening meals and the view down into Akaroa is great. There is also a gallery next to the property with some interesting garden sculpture, art and gifts. One note although the bathroom is upstairs with the bedroom the toilet is actually downstairs next to the kitchen. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you want to experience something a little different.

Thank you for your words and glad you enjoyed our area. We did think about putting the toilet in the bedroom, but decided there might be more who preferred it away from where they sleep.

stayed at this unique eco-friendly hotel made from individual silos, and it was a captivating experience. The host, Rob, was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The cleanliness and comfort were outstanding, and even the details, like the intriguing light switches, added to the charm of the place. A truly memorable stay! A great place to stay while visiting Akaroa and if making your way back to Christchurch the next day making it a quick 50min from town. Limited but great place for food. No need to look any further.

We had a very pleasant 2 night stay at Silo Stay and used this as a base for visiting Akaroa and environs.
The silo is warm and cosy , nice bedding and everything you need for a few nights stay .
Waking up to birdsong , sheep and cattle close is lovely and kiwiana.
Highly recommend staying .
The Little River Cafe a stones throw away has delicious food so no need to cook . Even better .

We had driven by a few times and always thought it would be cool to try. Well; we did and we were not disappointed! From Lisa who was in reception (very friendly) to the really well thought out accommodation this was an experience not to be forgotten. It has everything you need and more. I was impressed with the lovely finish and cleanliness. The speakers hidden under the bed and sky light above the bed (so many stars to see at night) were clever touches.

The layout was interesting. Loved the bed and shower was upstairs. The toolbox drawers were a neat idea.

The insulation on the wall made it really toasty warm when the heater was on.

I know the weather doesn't play ball at times as the night we stayed it poured down and the rain on the roof was loud. Not much sleep was had.

Apart from that I highly reccommend this quirky silo stay as its such a unique idea and its well set out.

We absolutely loved everything about our stay! Everything you could possibly need is supplied. There is a small fridge, 2 burners, microwave, dishes, glasses, cups, plates, utensils. There is shampoo, conditioner and soap in the bathrooms. They have guide books available and a guest manual that has all the ins and outs of the unit. Written very cleverly too! We found the bed very comfy. There are 2 places to eat next door but they close very early (5 and 6). We ate at the Little River hotel pub and it was good. Would highly recommend this place!!

Hello. I'm really sorry we can't accept animals. There is a wonderful, local Vet that has an animal-sitting service that you could place your dog in, and he would be just a stone's throw down the road from here :) There is only 1 room left available for the 27th and it is our family/accessible silo apartment - please let me know if you'd like me to reserve it as it will get snapped up quickly for school holiday makers :)
