We stayed here 2 nights, good size campsite for the camper, the facilities were very clean and well looked after. Very friendly staff. The area is beautiful, we did a great walk, we saw people fishing in the nearby river. We highly recommend this place!
This is truly a hidden gem and I can’t believe I’ve taken so long to find it. A beautiful camp surrounded with mature trees with fabulous bush walks and a simply stunning river. The river swimming holes were spectacular. We loved staying here and extended our stay out to three nights and wanted to stay longer. Really appreciated being able to bring our dog. The facilities are spotlessly clean and the little communal garden was such a lovely touch. Can’t wait to return, thanks for the hospitality.
We’ve just spent our first night at the Ashley Gorge holiday park and we’ll be back. It’s in a beautiful position with super friendly staff and immaculate facilities. There’s plenty of space, lots of shade, activities for the kids and even a salad garden for campers use. The river is clean and safe for young kids and there are great walks nearby. Thanks for a fab stay!
Have lived only 40 minutes away for the past 15yrs and never knew about this place! People say about heading up the Ashley for a swim etc but that was kind of it. Encouraged by a work colleague to stay a night at the Holiday Park - “Everything’s there, toilets/showers/kitchens. Great swimming holes for all abilities, clean clear water. Close to walks and there’s playgrounds on site. Pack a picnic and head upstream, take a lilo/tyre tube/boogie board and float all the way back.” What she didn’t mention was how family friendly it is, it was a pleasant surprise. So often camping grounds have a small element of ‘the drinking crowds’, those that you are wary of, but not here. The whole place felt very safe, and I was happy for my 12yr olds to explore and just have fun without my…
Stayed here 2 nights over Christmas and what a break! The grounds are immaculate and the owners so incredibly friendly and welcoming. You could see them working hard to make sure the place was tidy, even over the festive period. Shop was even open Christmas Day so I could get some treats... totally unexpected. The facilities have been painted recently and are pristine. They even did a fire pit for marshmallows on Christmas Day. There’s also a great river to paddle in. It’s easily the best campsite near to Christchurch. I work in a hotel in Christchurch and I will be recommending it to absolutely everybody arriving in on a camping/campervan trip! Thanks so much for a wonderful stay, I can’t wait to visit again!
