An amazing location topped only by the amazing hosts with a wealth of local knowledge and beyond. A wonderfully maintained country homestead with peace and tranquility that puts you right at ease. For those looking for a bit of an escape check this place out first with enough to do in the surrounding areas to keep you more than interested.

My daughter and I stayed at Woodgrove Estates. We were looking for a quiet and relaxing B&B environment and Woodgrove far exceeded our expectations. The location is beautiful, peaceful and quiet with a stunning array of stars at night and a beautiful panoramic view during the day. Hermal Melzer is the ultimate host who makes you feel immediately comfortable and welcome. The food was excellent and Herman kindly worked around my many food allergies. I highly recommend Woodgrove for a quick overnight stay on your way or for a longer stay where you can completely unwind from the hustle of daily life.

From the moment we arrived for our two day stay for a family wedding at Flaxmere Gardens (located just 5-10 minutes away) we felt welcomed by Janine and her husband into their home, which was a very large and exquisite homestead. We enjoyed an amazing cooked breakfast every morning and it was just a totally relaxing place to stay and enjoy a few days before and after the family wedding. I’d highly recommend Woodgrove Homestead to everyone.

We stayed 1 night at this lovely homestead which is in a lovely rural setting, full of tranquility and peace. The full breakfast was delicious. However we stayed in the studio and from the website and reviews on TripAdvisor we didn't realise that the studio was seperate from the homestead in a 'corrugated barn/garage' with none of the character of the homestead. The photos on the internet are not current and the reviews on Tripadvisor are for the previous management Herman. It is now under new ownership for the lasr 8 months. Having said that we still enjoyed our stay - just not what we thought we were getting.

Beautiful location in Hawarden. We stayed in the gallery which is separate from the homestead and it was a perfect place for the night. Herman was a great host setting up a European breakfast for us prior to our departure. We were here for work, but I'd like to return and spend a little more time. Perhaps stay in the Homestead itself next time.

Beautiful rooms. Well furnished. Good breakfast. Very nice hosts. In the middle of the countryside in the Waipara Vally. If you want to get some rest , this is the place to be. Also Christchurch is nearby.

The B&B is located out in the countryside, 15 - 30 minutes from villages and towns of the Waipara Valley. You discover a gracious traditional house amid the fields and pastures (use your GPS!). Our room was very large, with a private door onto the terrace, and a nicely equipped bathroom. "Our" sitting room was just across the hall from our room, with chairs, settee and table, overlooking the lawn and sheep fields. Our hosts, both of whom are Dutch, were engaging, inviting us for wine and cheese before we left for dinner. They prepared a complete cooked breakfast with European touches. We really felt that we were guests in their house, not just travelers in an ordinary B&B.

A place been a bit on the blind spot before. This area is really worth to stay longer and this B & B would be the perfect base for that stay. The hosts are very welcoming, the rooms are just great. Overall it is quiet and comfortable. The dinner arrangement is a beautiful idea and you will get lots of information and tips from the hosts.

We only stayed one night on this charming premises, which is probably worthwhile for a longer vacation. Woodgrove, an old farm with a history tenderly maintained by its owner, lies in a quite hilly region, ideal for hiking or visiting Christchurch, which is considerably less than one hour's drive. The mansion is impressive, equipped with antique, partly french furniture, a very cosy living room connected to a an open and spaceoius kitchen. The breakfast was superb. We had the studio in a former workshop, a huge room with HVAC (both for cooling and heating), four beds, a well equipped kitchen and a bathroom.

"There's a range of accommodation to suite all types of travelers. I stayed in the Bay Window suite, which was beautiful. There's a large marble bathroom and walk in wardrobe and separate sitting room with it's own library. The photographs on-line don't do it justice! The Russet room also looked amazing as did the separate self-contained gallery/studio with views across the Canterbury plains and towards the mountains. The beds are comfy and it's so quiet. It's truly a slice of heaven :)"
