Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very large campground with nice, clean facilities. Coin operated hot showers. Large, spacious sites. I would imagine during peak times it would be very busy and crowded but we were there in Feb 2021 and it was absolutely fine. Quite quiet and empty sites. Animals on site too. Good place for kids. Beach walking distance away.

Stayed here for one night in our campervan.
We chose this campsite as it was only a relatively short drive to Christchurch airport, where we were due to return our campervan the next morning.
It is a large campsite set amongst woodland but just a short walk to the huge expanse of sandy beach.
When we visited the site was relatively quiet apart from a number of semi-permanent caravans occupied by people working in the area.

This is a return visit to the woodend beach motorcamp. They have two cabins (only). The cabins are clean and well supplied with a jug/kettle, toaster, small fridge, plates and cutlery, and a pot and frying pan. You need your own bedding, t-towel and washing up detergent. There is short walk to the kitchens and bathrooms which are shared. I only paid $45 for myself to stay the night, which makes it very economical. It is half way between nelson and dunedin, so a good place to break a journey.

Myself and my girlfriend were touring New Zealand in a camper and due to it being small and having no real facilities we booked all our campsites in advance, I booked this one through AA travel site and either the site or the campsite didn't actually book this as I received no confirmation email and luckily no money actually went out so I don't know what happened there, but due to this I contacted the campsite directly by email, first to check if they had got a booking under my name and once finding out they hadn't I booked directly.

Upon arrival several weeks later they had no trace of me ever booking with them or even contacting them at all, not a great start! Luckily it was like absolutely empty, which left it with a real creepy feeling being like the only ones there, also there were no lights located around the site so walking over the boggy grass was very entertaining!! Kitchen facilities were average but the showers were absolutely awful! This may have been the cheapest campsite we could find close to christchurch but I have never had to pay for a shower and it never even really warm up!! Such a rip off! The shower itself was really dark and dirty and people could see over the door and in when walking past! Never will I go back here again!

Recently stayed with family and not very impressed. Rude staff on arrival, did not mention on website that you need to pay 30 dollars deposit for a pass to enter car park. Shower facilities is also chargeable once again not mentioned on website. Toilets are up a steep hill not suited for disabled people. Will definitely not return total ripoff.

On our final day of our vacation before returning the camper near Christchurch airport we found this wonderful spot. It’s very near the best beach we have seen on the South Island ... highly recommendable

Great location next to the beach and surrounded by fir trees and 20 minutes from airport. However the site facilities are in need of upgrading. Also looks like a caravan graveyard. You need $2 for a 6 minute shower in a building that was probably fashionable in the fifties. As others have said, the site seems a bit creepy. Also a charge for Wifi.

Just outside of town - So an easy 20 minute drive to any attraction - but why bother when you can walk over the sand dunes to the beach ? The beach end of the park has it's own hot spot protected by so many large trees - no easterly to ruin your camping. Cheap clean and tidy and very safe. We go back regularly now with our caravan.

The facilities were very poor. The communal kitchen was small and you had to pay for the showers. There were very few showers and loos. There was very little in the way of paths or lights. The place felt really creepy and I didn't feel comfortable there at all and definitely didn't want to be there after dark so we left and found another park.
