Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The beach area is nice because of the trees. The casas are nice and clean. The food is OK and you will have your own server while having breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our server was Arcel, he was attentive, quick and nice. The only setback is that when our server was busy with other customers, I asked the other server for an order, there was not effort at all, even our order didn't reached the kitchen. It was solved when Arcel came back.

Overall we had a great stay at Costa Marina. The place is very relaxing and the staffs were great but as a suggestion for future guests, I would like to give emphasis on safety regarding the use of stand up paddle boards and kayaks. The staff should impose guests to wear life vests when using SUP and instruct the guests on not going beyond the cemented borders due to sudden changes in current that may pose a danger risks for inexperienced paddle boarders.

We chose Costa Marina for our Annual Get-ogether (January 3-5, 2020) because of its accessibility to the city and its a spotlessly-cleaned resort. The long beach line is ideal for our team building. The quiet evening by the beach and the peaceful tropical setting is a welcome treat to our team mates with spouses or with their entire family who were first timers to Samal Island. The staff are friendly and courteous. But if you are staying overnight, be prepared to pay a higher price. You will be paying for all your meals and snack as bringing of food is not allowed. The food servings isn't as generous as I thought and its a bit pricey. The food is delicious but with limited choices compared to its cousin resort, Paradise. Upon booking for a pax of 60 for two nights, the sales staff assured me that the basic necessities for comfort are made available like hot water kettle and coffee/tea, tissue. They required full payment of room accommodations so in turn I expected a convenient stay. Knowing that the room rate is priced at 4,500/night and children above 2 are counted-- quite expensive, I had to reiterate that some participants would be coming with their little kids and travelling all the way from CDO. Because of their no food or drinks or anything should be brought to the cottage policy, no one dared to bring any food or a stash of hot drinks. No coffee has been been provided for the guests in each room. I had to ask at the resto and they did provide thermos with hot water and that's it. No coffee, no milo or tea. Several of the team mates were forced to get their caffeine fix in the resto, priced at php 50.00 for a stick/cup. I was not expecting an old thermos similar to what you bring to hospital, I was thinking of a kettle (expensive room rates, remember!) The restaurant manager reasoned that coffee (Nescafe instant or 3-in-1) will be provided for during the breakfast only which also came late because the kitchen has bee understaffed. The most annoying part: We booked 60 pax for our dinner buffet at the pavillion and a huge lechon. During the check out, this Ms.Staff who never showed up during our two-day event just came up and surprised me and my boss with an added amount of 18,000.00 to our bill because she said, our contract is 60 pax and we exceeded to 90 ( they must have counted shadows because there were only 70 of us including little children). We tried to explain that no additional cost has been incurred, in-fact, food was excessive because we also had lechon and that they did not add a refill. We even ended up giving the extra food to others. She insisted that we pay the additional amount and she only listened when I argued that sharing of food to kids because it is abundant shouldn't be billed at all and at 18k at that? Our food for 60 (40 adults) ala carte on two lunches and one dinner was only for an average of 14k/ meal and remember - they're not generous in their servings.
I recommend this resort only for a day tour because you can bring in your food with you. They are not ready for a large group yet. Still our team mates had fun and loved the beauty of the resort.

It was a spur of the moment trip, booked a day before. We rode on a ferry and had a 10 minute motorcycle ride going to the resort. Upon arrival,we were met by the guard as staff arrives at 6am. We were accommodated right away as soon as they arrive, what i liked most was that someone always approached us on what to do,where to wait, when the staff has arrived, that we can check out the villas and the rooms. The staff were very friendly amd approachable. It was also the day that the 6.8 earthquake hit Davao,it was scary but the staff were cool and relaxed so we didn't panic. Meals took a bit long to cook, but that made me feel that it was made from scratch, ika ngam nila "lutong bahay" . All.staff leaves at 10pm,but they left us with water to drink, and a thermos and coffee for when we wake up.the next day. It was a pleasant trip and we were attended to during our entire stay.

I haven't heard Costa Marina Beach Resort before until I and my friends were planning to go and visit. It's always been nice and pleasure to be there, I've been in this resort more like thrice already. Places are so satisfying, people were so kind and the beach was so great and fantastic. Aside from the people and the places, this beach is easy accessible for everyone. I can say Costa Marina Beach Resort meets my satisfaction it is a good beach resort for family and friends. I hope I can go back there soon thank you for the wonderful and fantastic experience.

Have heard about Costa for a couple of months and I was so excited to visit there! It lived up to its reputation of being a one of the most eye-catching resort. It is where you can really find peace and spend time with your friends. This resort really give us a lot of moments to be treasured because of their heart whelming hospitality. I hope I can still go back here and create new experiences. Thank you for giving us a wonderful experience.
