Situated within 5 acres of park-like grounds with magnificent views of the mountains, Snowy Waters was once a Nurses Home for staff of the former Waimarino Hospital. Our quiet, quaint, historic timber town is situated between two National Parks; Tongariro and Whanganui. In summer transport departs daily for the Tongariro Crossing from our doorstep. Other nearby activities include skiing and snowboarding Mt Ruapehu, walking the Tongariro Northern Circuit, jet boating or canoeing to the Bridge to Nowhere, mountain biking on the Mountains to Sea cycle trail, bird watching and trout fishing. We are the perfect halfway stay between Auckland and Wellington. Our setting is private and peaceful yet within easy walking distance of a small supermarket and cafe. Our main guest lounge is a wonderful, tranquil space which opens onto an extensive outdoor entertainment area with BBQ's, an outdoor fireplace and a wood-fired pizza oven. Self-catering facilities are available in our open-plan, rustic themed kitchen, or let us cater for you. In winter cosy fireplaces are lit prior to your arrival while European style central heating warms your room. Both guest lounges feature a 50" TV (with Sports channels). Showers are gas with good pressure and an unlimited water supply. Although our rooms are small, we make up for it with friendly, helpful staff, clean facilities and free WiFi. Outside we have a playground, an outdoor spa pool surrounded by rocks and Palm trees with views of Mt Ruapehu, a pet goat and the Snowy Train. As part of our plan to bring people to our wonderful little community, we are constantly upgrading and improving our 75 year old character building. We are owned and operated by kiwi's who are passionate about supporting rural New Zealand and the many outdoor activities available. Your hosts Sandy, Casey, Terry and Suzanne look forward to welcoming you.

We stayed here 2 nights as we did the tongariro crossing. It was clean and hygienic. The staff were all professional and friendly, knew all the history of the area and was clearly very passionate. Would recommend this place to anyone in the area

If you are looking for relaxing break with a difference this is it. Character filled and while rustic rather than 5 star comfy beds with crisp clean sheets and soft white towels and an atmosphere where a group of friends or a family can enjoy time together. Plenty of space activities for children and a bubbling spa. Lots to do. We biked one day and went walking another and laughed our way thru the evening murder mystery offered by the hosts. An Intersting art collection in town at the Old Bank and great coffee and food at Cafe Louise

This weekend, we have had the privilege of staying at Snowy Waters Lodge as part of a wedding party. Sandy the owner and her team worked super hard to make the best day happen for the bride and groom. The Lodge was very comfortable and had plenty of rooms for everyone. Our room was clean and comfortable and this was a super place for family and friends to come together and celebrate. Thanks Sandy and her team.

Very lovely place to stay after the Tongariro Crossing. Spend lots of time in the jacuzzi and afterwards some people watched the Hobbit together. The personnel is lovely and I highly recommend staying here!
