Greeted with an exotic fruit drink and then shown to a fabulous seafront chalet. Loved the place and the excellent soft blues and white seaside decor throughout; very much a yachty place in feel anyway, but room was super comfortable and restaurant, bar etc offered excellent and friendly people and good service. Great to walk up to see the kite surfers just up the beach; one of the world's most active schools so lots going on in a beautiful lagoon. Not on the best swimming beach as really it is a small sanded area adjacent to an active marina, but a perfect central location for visiting Union Island...and of course the nearby Tobago Cays. Reception very helpful and can organise anything for you.

Stayed at this hotel while visiting Union for a few days. I was a bit apprehensive due to previous reviews. But I really enjoyed my stay. Had an upstairs room in the main building, with my own terrace overlooking the marina and the ocean. The room was very nice, newly renovated i t seemed, with a four poster bed and mosquito netting. Reception, bar and restaurant are all in one cool open space where people would just hang out and chill' . The best part was the genuine friendliness of the staff and ambition to turn this into the great place it once was, and they are definitely getting there. Lots of surfer dudes gave it a laid back SoCal vibe, in the Caribbean. Loved it, and even returned a few days later.

Dear Espadaman, We are happy you gave us a chance and even come back for more. Unfortunately we are dealing with the bad history of this place, however your positive comment will encourage future traveller to give AYC a shot. My staff is proud of what we are achieving and work very hard to continue this new amazing and positive trend. Hope you have the opportunity to return for more Kite Surf. Best Nat and the AYC Team

If you plan to visit Union Island , and the closest launching to visit the Tobago Cays - Jewel of the Grenadines, you should stay at the Anchorage Inn at Clifton Bay. When you arrive, you will be greeted by “Nutz” the manager, and while his name truly describes his personality, he is attentive to each and every guest, that enjoys a rum punch at the bar or takes a room / beach cottage at the resort. If arriving by air, let him know you’re coming and he will pick you up at the air port in an Anchorage Inn 6 seater golf cart and with his dog at the wheel. Rooms are spacious and clean, although WIFI at the Bar provides the best reception. Food was flavorful and reasonably priced. A 6 minute walk to the kite beach for some lessons on Kite Surfing, or simply watch the kites sail past you on the smooth emerald blue water. Great for some fascinating photo moments! There is always something happening on the Anchorage dock with the breathtaking Caribbean royal blues of Clifton Bay. We enjoyed 2 glorious days in Union Island, only scratched the surface and we had a great time chatting and watching all the activity on the docks, boats in the marina and lively conversation with “Nuts””. Try it, you will love it. Glen & Josephine

Kiteboarders, or people like me who want to learn kiteboarding, come here for the JT kiteboarding center which is wonderful.
The hotel is convenient to the center, and everyone enjoys Union Island as it is a step back in time to the simple, uncrowded Caribbean.
The town has sufficient amenities to make for a nice visit.
But this hotel couldn't be much worse!
The reviewer who wrote:
We stayed in one of the Kite surf beach units, these are run by the hotel and NOT the kite school to say the room is basic is an understatement, no TV, telephone, pictures, mats etc, as I said very basic ... this review only scratched the surface.
Suffice to say that despite repeated requests, and even tipping the chambermaid $10 -- I was not able to get clean towels more than once over a 7 night stay.
Only one of the lamps next to the bed worked, the other was missing an adaptor.
I asked for one, but like everything else here, you can ask but its not coming.
I had to unplug the refrigerator to charge my phone.
The price is modest, but you don't even get the value of a modest price.

The place is nice and quiet and a great place to relax. But the staff makes the difference. I wanted to bring Glen, Cordelia, Kino and Peter back with us. Nothing less than perfect, the smiles, the friendlyness and the fun times. Nat has a great team. Of course we there for the kite and On that corner of the island Jeremy has a great place with the JT Pro Center. People chill and enjoy watching the 5 to 10 kiters in this perfect bay. Again the team, Pokimon, Butter and the "boss" Nayia all there to help 100% of the time.

We booked this hotel on the web site jtkite. All kiteboarding team was really nice and try to help us.
The problem is they are not managing it.
The room looked nice on their web site but it's really far from the reality.
Bellow the list of our problems:
-it was tanning in ou rooms and neighbor room.
-no tv, radio, music
-no decoration at all
-one windows was not closing and nobody from the hotel would like to help so we fix it by our self.
We book if for a week and we pay $180/day for an 2 bedroom apartment. I really regret to stay in this hotel.
We spoke with the manager, he understand our trouble and said he just arrive in November and they will increase service. Will see in the future

Dear Ogcnice, I am sorry if I reply only now to your review, as you stated, I only been here since November and I have a lot to catch up to, including responding to T.A. reviews. I remember your issues and I never been under the impression that you have felt so bad about us. On the day I came to check your problems I had the impression that we took all the necessary arrangements to make it good. The complimentary night stay and a dinner I guess did not help ease up your disappointment and I am really sorry you feel that way. $140 is what ended up your night charges and, for a party of 4, on a waterfront cottage, is not too bad, even considering a clamsy window and lack of deco. For what is room entertainment concern, is our policy not to have a TV, however we will add wireless speakers once we will renovate rooms over summer. Internet is provided only by the bar and restaurant area, which has been extended and download speed increased. I am glad that you have enjoyed the Kite school and in the future we hope to offer extra amenities to complement guests holidays. Time has gone by and things are much nicer around here, we hope to have you here again and I will be happy to offer you the first night on your next booking on the house, baring in mind that we will have a new rack rate. Please do not hesitate to contact me personally. Best Nat “Life is too short. Smile while you still have teeth"

This place is one of my favourite places I've visited. We travelled as a couple along with two more friends and stayed in a very nice airconditined appartment. Clean, internet works well, staff are super friendly. Coconut Grill serves the best tuna burger on the island, and they also have one of the best Pina Coladas. Don't miss the full moon party or a rum punch at Happy Island! For kiters, Anchorage is the perfect place to stay, walking distance to the main kiting beach, and loads of locals with motorboats to take you to all the other small islands of the Grenadines for some wave experience or downwinders. Anchorage's manager Nat will help you with anything you need, and spreads a good vibe every day. I can't wait to return soon!

I just came back from a 1 week vacation at the AYC. I can perfectly recommend this place for spending your holidays on union island. AYC is conveniently located to kite beach, the village Center and the airport. Rooms are are very clean and spacious.
What i liked most about the place is its friendly atmosphere. The owner Nat and his staff are always around to help and make you feel comfortable. Food is very fresh and delicious too.

Hence, i'd also like to make a note on Rlcb's comment who was there at the same time as me. I think having a tv and more plug-ins in your room is simply a question of your own research when booking and cannot be blamed on the Hotel. I got fresh towels whenever needed, so next time it might be an idea of just speaking to reception about your wishes.

I wish I was still there! AYC was my home for 10 days while I kiteboarded at the JTPro Centre & Frigate, and explored the islands! The staff (Nat, Keno, Peter, Carla, Glen, Bandy and others) were more than welcoming. They provided me with suggestions as to what else I could do and see during my time on the island. I booked the hotel knowing the amenities (no TV, basic room with a bed, A/C and wifi) and had everything I needed for a great experience!

When I first arrived I was told that I could have my room cleaned at my convenience. All I was asked to do was turn in my key in the morning, and when I returned everything was freshened up! I used the wifi at AYC and at the JTPro Centre to communicate with friends and family when necessary, and I LOVED that I could charge all my meals to the room and then pay at the end of the stay so that I didn't have to carry money with me all the time!!! Simply sign the bill and pay later - almost a little too dangerous ;) I left a tip at the end of my stay, and have more than acceptable service!

RSLCB, I believe we met during our stay at the hotel, and honestly I have to say something! **Our energy follows us and people react to it** I'm not sure if you recall me inviting you to join our large birthday dinner celebration at the AYC this Monday night?! (It was my last night and you were about to sit alone for dinner) I know this is not the space for personal reviews, but I don't know how to only message you - I hope that you will take this constructively...after being kind and inviting you to join us, you sat in between me and my date, complained about world issues while oblivious that we WERE trying to have a fun dinner. I'm only saying this as it appears as though you travel a lot; perhaps your future travels will be more rewarding if you reflect on how you engage with others.

Nice place to stay, its basic, but thats life on Union Island. The people who work there are very nice and great to be around. The manager was very welcoming and interested in making our stay as good as possible. We were there to kite, and not to hang out in the hotel room, the rooms are basic, but beds are good.
