Vielen Dank! Wir freuen uns auf ein Wiedersehen! Mike und Nicole Not that easy to find and with a steep driveway on top of a little hill- but it is definitively worth the effort. From the top, you have a terrific view on the Firth of Thames and at night you will enjoy the stars of the southern hemisphere. The lodge has its own history and the furnishings are best of taste. Ingrid and John are perfect hosts, we enjoyed a three course menu for dinner –home-cooked by Ingrid- and a perfect recommendation for the wine to go along with the food. Breakfast was just as good as the dinner and we have had freshly baked kiwi-muffins… simply yummy ! Thanks a lot and we are looking forward to see you again next time ! Nicole and Mike

Others have written about the view, the location, the surroundings and of course the wonderful hosts. I can only say that for two jet-weary holidaymakers our stay at Rata Boutique Lodge was just perfection. There was nothing I would change, and nothing could have improved our stay, just a couple more nights maybe? In such a hurry to get on with touring Southwards it is only hindsight that suggests we should have slowed down a bit and given ourselves more time with Ingrid and John. Thank you so much Ingrid and John - you set the standard for others to aim at! I hope we get to see you again one day.

Just a short drive from auckland is a secluded paradise. Boutique accomodation at its finest, it was a perfect night. The accomodation itself was lovely, the view was stunning, the hosts were friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. Highly recommended - and the outdoor -under the star, candle lit bath just added to the perfect experience we enjoyed. Can't wait to go back.

Firstly - the view. WOW!!!!!! Across the valley and over the water of Firth of Thames to the Coromandel - stunning. And that is from their driveway before you even get to the Lodge. The lodge itself is simple but refined, combining old and new in interior décor. Set in a goodly few acres, you can take a long walk though native bush, or just sit on the manicured lawn and enjoy the view (sunsets are awesome). And all this is approx. an hour and 15 mins drive from Auckland! All rooms have on-suites. There are not many rooms, so its not over-full of other people, which makes it very special and exclusive. All in all - fantastic. Ingrid and John are the perfect hosts - just don't start John on the cricket...... teehee! And boy, can Ingrid cook! The duck leg we had for dinner was just mouth-watering. Also, the fresh flounder for breakfast was simply perfect. Would we recommend Rata? Without hesitation. will we go back? Without question. Thank you for a perfect weekend

We very much enjoyed our stay at Rata Lodge. It had been recommended by family as a relaxing private getaway and we weren't disappointed. We spent a night in The Retreat which featured a private outdoor lounge area overlooking the spectacular scenery and an outdoor bath. The room was clean, well appointed and catered for every need. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Ingrid and John were welcoming and friendly hosts who were happy to cater to our requirements. They prepared us a wonderful seafood platter for dinner which included a variety of fresh seafoods, salad and bread. We enjoyed this in the setting sun, at the main outdoor table, complete with gorgeous views. A most memorable stay. We won't hesitate to recommend the lodge to others and hope to be back soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rata Boutique Lodge. Our room was perfect, with an outside bath and we appreciated the warm welcome of Ingrid and John. The stunning views, both to the Firth of Thames and to the countryside, were exactly what we wanting to enjoy. Plus the drink and nibbles before dinner with a visit with the hosts and then an outstanding meal (lamp rump on puree of pea was our choice, and we are so happy we did) were highlights - the setting of their lounge with lovely artwork was very special. We loved the morning breakfast served on the veranda again. Though we only stayed one night, we could well imagine in the future staying two. This Lodge has it all - fabulous and friendly hosts, accommodation, food, location.

Rata Boutique Lodge is a retreat, we found the address easy to get to from Auckland without having to travel long distances. It is settled in beautiful rural surroundings and has a stunning view of the Firth of Thames. We experienced a warm welcome and we were relaxed in no time. The massages we booked were very professional and rejuvenating. The meals both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and all in all we had a great city escape. Thank you Penny and Lee

We were two couples staying at Rata. We were so surprised by the elegance and wonderful mix of old and new in a comfortable environment surrounded by native bush and the most beautiful views. The rooms are all en suite , very well appointed and have an exclusive feel to them. Ingrid and John the hosts are very friendly, well travelled and provide a superb environment with excellent cuisine. No doubt any guest will feel at home and will not want to leave!. The 36 acres or so of native bush behind the property is excellent also to wander in. The sunrise in the morning is a spectacle to remember.

Couldn't have picked a better room than the 'retreat'. Very private with stunning views and a lovely outdoor bath. Both dinner and breakfast were incredible and top end restaurant quality. Wonderful hosts who were attentive and interesting conversationalists. We enjoyed the tour of the house and Matt is looking forward to discussing the section over a scotch next time we visit
