Detailed Reviews
My wife and I stayed at the Island View Lodge on our way from Thames to the Bay of Islands. The location is easy to find and has a great view of Bream Bay from atop a hillside. We were greeted by Joyce (owner) upon arrival and given a quick tour of the common areas (which includes and indoor pool and hot tub, along with a pool table and flat screen TV inside). We had our own room upstairs with a beautiful large window view of Bream Bay, and a personal bathroom within our room. Joyce also provided us with a bottle of white wine in celebration of our honeymoon, very sweet of her!
Breakfast was served around 8:30am (you can let her know when you want breakfast the night before) which included fruits, toast, jams, yogurt, cereals, eggs, bacon, and potatoes. It was a delicious spread that was more then expected. We sat at their dinning table over looking Bream Bay and chatted with Joyce's brother and his family while Vince was finishing up his horse training on the beach. It was great to have a nice sit down meal with a warm group of individuals on our way to the Bay of Islands.
I highly recommend staying at this B&B while traveling on the north island.

We thoroughly enjoyed out stay with Joyce and Vince. They are so relaxed and easy to get on with, yet very welcoming and helpful. Our rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. We had full laundry facilities as well as a kitchen which we didn't use, but I was able to catch up on the laundry which was super. The pool is an added bonus as is the wonderful view from this top class house on a hilltop. Well worth a visit and reasonably priced.

Main suite is spacious with amazing views and really comfy bed. Hosts can't do enough for you, friendly, knowledge and do a great breakfast. Spa is a great place for a vino. The kitchen in three main suite is great, take your own food and make the most of the views.

Unbelievable location with a stunning view, this B&B far surpassed my expectations. Close to the Piroa falls, Waipu caves and the Ruakaka beach the self contained unit had everything we could have hoped for. The unit had a large and modern kitchen and lounge with a generous wet room bathroom. The laundry facilities were an amazing bonus. Had a delightful swim and spa at the end of the day. Our hosts made sure we had everything we could need even lending us torches for the caves.

We stayed here on a business trip. The house is lovely and the view spectacular, especially waking up to a stunning dawn over the sea. However there is just a touch of warmth missing that left us a little disappointed. In previous B&Bs we have had access to a comfortable lounge and the hosts have been so welcoming with tea, biscuits and chats. Joyce and Vince were very friendly but those little touches were missing that turn somewhere from good to excellent.

We stayed in the main downstairs self-contained accommodation. The facilities were excellent with a great view. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was great. Even though neither of us were feeling well, we felt totally at home and were provided with lemons and honey to help stave off sore throats etc. A great place to relax!

Joyce and Vince are 5* hosts - and their beautiful home has the most fabulous views.
The main bedroom, with kitchen and sitting/dining space and ensuite wet-room is very spacious, modern, well-appointed and delightful. The pool is a super luxury, together with the spa. And there are full laundry facilities and even a games table.
Go, stay! You won't be disappointed; and Joyce's omelette at breakfast is a delicious speciality.
Wifi is available in the games room (the main lobby), but during our stay the signal was not strong enough to reach our room.

We stopped here on our way to Whangarei to see friends (and arrived very late) and it was superb... we didn't have a chance to go into the pool or spa (which looked very inviting) but the rooms were great and all we could have wanted. Plus the view is absolutely incredible.
Joyce and Vince are extremely friendly and helpful- and there are some great beaches nearby which we went down briefly to see- and want to go back to.
