Stayed 2 nights in early November. Check in was easy (although I wish check in was earlier than 4 pm). Cottage was very clean and amenities were great. Towel, dishes, coffee pot and filters all provided.
If you want to to use the sauna or fitness room be warned you have to call for a reservation.
Hot tub was great and super relaxing. Property was quiet. We drive to near by Quarterdeck for lunch.
Coffee maker was small. 1/2 the size of a normal 12 cup Coffee maker. Check out was 10am.
Would go again!

The cottage is nice and clean. The beds are comfy with nice linens. The hot tub in the screened in porch area was great, also each cottage has their own screened in gazebo with a picnic table inside. There are a lot of mosquitoes. They provide bug spray and after bite and have many anti bug traps set up around the property. Short walk to the rivers edge where it would be easy to launch one of the provided kayaks or the canoe stored there. Theres a large screened building for a group camp fire, and lots of firewood there for your fire pit in front of your cottage (there was firewood already at the fire pit to use). They also have bicycles to borrow. There are four cottages but we felt like the only ones there. I liked the little touches, slippers and bath robes , the firewood waiting , the a/c was going so the cottage was nice and cool when we arrived. Very pleasant.

My husband and I needed a relaxing weekend away. I found 1 and Only Riverside accommodations and am so glad we booked! The cottages were well appointed, a nice size, and had everything we needed available to us. All we needed to do was bring ourselves and a little bit of food. I was super happy that there was a hot tub in a screened-in covered porch since it rained all day Saturday. I spent much of my day going in and out of the hot tub simply relaxing and enjoying the surrounding views. Sunday ended up being a beautiful and sunny day and we were able to take out a kayak. Helped us to connect again as a couple and with nature! I would highly recommed these cottages for either couples looking for a relaxing weekend away or even for families with childen.

Location of the "One and only", perfect. Convenience for a long stay: no direct and very limited service, no washer-dryer access, only two kayaks on site for all (which must be booked), mediocre kitchen knives, no measuring cup, a hair dryer with European plug!?!? (Which doesn't plug anywhere). Otherwise, empty propane canisters almost at the beginning of our stay (barbecue and mosquitoes). Those were our downsides.

This was the best most relaxing cottage I have ever stayed in. Beautiful location, everything you need in this cottage. Hot tub was fantastic. Screened in gazebo for eating outdoors was an added bonus. Free firewood. We will certainly be back! Highly recommend.

This place is amazing !! Wood throughout , ac, screened in deck with breathtaking surroundings ( trees , river, birds, etc). Immaculately clean cottage that was not damp like many others we’ve stayed at upon arrival. The rooms are a good size and the living/kitchen is open and a perfect size. The owners are super nice , offered to pick something up on the city (Halifax) when I asked him about something we had forgot.. gotta love Nova Scotians. We are on day 3 and so far we have found everything from kitchenware to Q-tips... it’s FULLY EQUIPPED!!! Location is perfect to explore the south shore as we have: Shelburne is 25mins Lockport is 20mins - amazing town. Liverpool is 20 mins Bridgewater and Yarmouth are 1 hour (give or take). We have never really explored this shore in NS but we’d highly recommend this location and home-base if this trip is on your list. We are not breaking the bank by using the bbq and kitchen in our cabin as it is so clean and accessible. Bring bug spray and you will really enjoy the outdoors in this amazing cottage rental.

The cottage was clean, tidy and well equipped. They provided bath robe and slippers and the hot tub was very nice. They provide most kitchen equipment, although the reusable coffee filter didn't quit fit the machine .....it made a bit of mess. There was a hole in the cabin gazebo that allowed access to a squirrel in the hot tub area . We woke up the next day to his excrement all over the gazebo, lounge chairs and floor, which was not to our liking. The property itself would have been spectacular had there not been large holes and piles of earth everywhere. The holes filled with stagnant water provided a perfect breeding ground for the ample supply of mosquitos. The property supplies bug spay if you care to use it, we did not. The Bath tub was elevated for whatever reason, providing a small step would have been perfect, for us shorter folks who are 5'2". The water to the cabin was provided by a pumping system which surged every 30 seconds, not a problem for washing dishes. Taking a shower was another matter. The water in the shower was extremely difficult to regulate it was either too hot or too cold and the pressure kept surging and dropping. We were a little disappointed for the money we paid, I expected a little more for my dollar. I didn't expect large excavator size piles of earth and holes that a child could get seriously hurt in. I would not recommend this property to couples with children or people who would prefer to shower. I have stayed in many cabins in my years and this one was mediocre at best. Considering all the rules the owners expect you to abide by they failed to hold up their side of the contract. We Stayed in the Aspen cabin.

These cottages are super cute. Hot tub was a big plus with the screen room. Decorated nicely with still a rustic feel. Fridge, stove, coffee pot, kettle, dishes, etc all included. I felt we were short silverware and the knives were dull.
Bed seemed really small for some reason but it was a Queen.
Inside the cottage was clean but they could clean off the steps of all the dead bugs and cob webs Around the fire pit had a few bits of food and the ants were swarming.
Mosquitos seemed better this year than last. Still around but not carry you away
Not much of a view from the sable cottage. If you want the lake view book one of the others down closer to the lake.
If you have any mobility issues the shower is not accessible. It so very high up and hard to get into and out of. And toilet is low. We were okay but noting for anyone with mobility difficulties would not be able to manage. My suggestion would be to add a handle to assist with getting in and out.
Wifi was meh. Full signal but hardly worked in the evenings.

It had been a long 2 years of covid, after finally being able to freely travel again without restrictions, we found 1 and only cottages online and managed to book a weekend away. We had never traveled to this part of NS before, so we thought why not. The cottages are beautiful and very well appointed.. the hot tub was a must, as that was on our list when looking for places to stay..and it did not disappoint. So relaxing and the kids loved it as much as we did. The property was laid out very nicely and offered a little bit of everything for everyone. We will definitely be back again (the summer time or early fall would be lovely) highly recommend this place. The south shore did not disappoint.
