We stayed at Gealabhat Callanish B&B last July 2023 and we've discovered a little gem just a few minutes walk from the Callanish Stones. We felt at home, welcomed by the smile and helpfulness of Gregor who is also an excellent cook and delighted us with his breakfasts and dinners! The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Lewis's wild and enchanting landscapes and Gregor's little B&B are among the most pleasant memories of our trip. The B&B is in a very quiet location but in half an hour by car you can reach the port of Stornoway for the ferry.

Absolutely superb B&B. A warm welcome, very comfortable room and bed, fantastic big shower. Spotlessly clean. Effective blind and curtains in the room - important for getting a good sleep at this time of year when it's light outside until almost midnight and darkness only lasts four hours. Location is perfect for exploring Lewis and Harris, no more than an hour's drive to Ness at the north end, about ninety minutes to Rodel in the South, and about twenty minutes from Stornoway. The famous Callanish standing stones are a few minutes walk up the road. Breakfasts were excellent with a good variety of options to choose from and fantastic coffee from a proper espresso machine. Home made jam and local honey on the table too. Gregor was the perfect host, taking time to chat with guests about things to do locally. He also seemed quite happy to let me practice my rudimentary Gaelic which I really appreciated. Tapadh leibh! Starting to plan my next Hebridean trip already and will stay longer here next time. I stayed in the main house but Gregor showed me the new barn before I left. It's absolutely stunning, with massive windows and it's obvious a lot of work has gone into the renovation and decoration.

We enjoyed a fabulous stay during our tour of the Hebrides. The house and rooms are full of character whilst being modern and comfortable. Gregor was an absolutely brilliant host and made us feel right at home. Great location for visiting the Callanish Stones which are a short walk away. Cooked breakfasts and evening dinner were excellent with the opportunity to meet and chat with other guests at the table. Location means only a short drive is required to other attractions in the area; we visited Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, Don Carloway and Bosta Beach. Highly recommended.

We cannot recommend this B&B highly enough. Everything was wonderful about our 5-night stay with Gregor (Callanish born annd bred) and Douglas (and Barney and Rollo) who were such kind and friendly hosts that we felt like part of the family. Gregor is a superb cook (and TV chef, no less!) and our 2-course evening meals and breakfasts were all fantastic, made with top quality, locally sourced ingredients (they keep hens and bees - there is even honeycomb at breakfast!). The old croft cottage is cosy, with 2 guest ensuite bedrooms, whilst the newly renovated barn alongside offers a further bedroom, bathroom and separate lounge. All guests eat together, chatting around the table in the kitchen whilst Gregor magics up the food. Outside you can sit in their carefully tended garden, listening to the birds, overlooking the water that gives the property its name. The iconic Callanish stone circle is about a 0.25 mile stroll away. Perfect in every way.

We are a family of 4 with 2 primary school age children touring the Outer Hebrides and this was our favourite b&b on the trip. The b&b has two rooms and we took them both, staying for 3 nights.

The rooms were well appointed with comfy beds, dark curtains which were great for sleeping and excellent showers. Gregor is an excellent cook so we had fantastic breakfasts and we also opted to have meals for 2 of the evenings there - which were amazing. Our boys also loved their two well behaved dogs.

The b&b is in a great quiet location, walking distance from the Callandish Stones and central for exploring both Harris and Lewis. We absolutely loved this place!

We went to explore Lewis and Harris. The location of Gealabhat B&B is within walking distance of the Callanish (Calanais) Stones. The location is superb, offering lovely views in a tranquil setting. The hosts are very professional, nothing is too much trouble. The bedrooms are en-suite and beautifully furnished. There is an option to stay in Self-Catering accommodation too. Breakfast is served at your convenience at a time specified by you. The breakfast table offers an abundance of food including fresh honey on the comb from their own bee hives! Any combination of hot breakfast is also available. Dinner can be requested in advance of arrival date and again would be served at a time convenient to the traveller. My 2 days wasn’t enough! I’ll definitely go back and would highly recommend it to anyone. Excellence is an understatement! Just go! You’ll not regret it at all!

This is a wonderful B&B in a traditional croft house that has been beautifully refurbished resulting in a very comfortable, scrupulously clean and highly welcoming place to rest weary heads and legs.

We stayed here for a couple of nights while cycling through the Islands. Gregor and Douglas were incredibly welcoming, genial and generous hosts – lots of great advice on where to go and what to see. Food wise – brilliant! A very filling breakfast with Gregor’s home baked bread and everything else you could possibly wish for. When it came to the evenings, Gregor produced a very full and super good evening meal using local ingredients giving us a very tasty taste of the islands.

It had been a tough cycle from Tarbert to Callinish. This was part of our route along the Outer Hebridean Way. We had tackled 25mph headwinds and hills that pushed us to our physical limits. So we were very relieved to have reached our destination for the night Gealabhat B&B.

Our tiredness immediately evaporated (well almost, the legs still ached) from the very warm and genuine welcome we received from host Gregor. A delightful friendly man. He showed us to our accomodation, a converted barn, which was opposite the main house. Not only that, he converted it himself! And what a fine job he made of it. A beautiful and comfortable lounge area, excellent bathroom, and splendid bedroom. Everything was very well appointed and spotlessly clean. Best of all was the home made Victoria Sponge cake and tea, laid out for us on the table. A real treat and absolutely delicious.

Gregor cooks supper for his guests as the B&B is more or less miles from anywhere! We were the only two staying this particular night, Sunday 23rd July. The B&B can can have up to 6 guests. We arranged to eat at 7. We needed some rest first. Our room was a brilliant place to relax and unwind.

We had an absolutely delicious supper, in the dining area of Gregor's lovely kitchen. He had prepared vegetable lasagne, with a very nice salad and garlic bread, followed by a fruit crumble with cream or ice cream. To eat this meal in these traditional, homely, friendly, surroundings was a wonderful experience. It was enhanced by the company of Roland and Barney Gregor's two Beagle dogs. They were obviously both very spoiled and very loved doggies, and very well behaved! They showed no shame. They would roll onto their backs for a tummy rub to anyone. To doggie lovers like Rachel and myself this was heaven!

Breakfast was as good as the supper. It was a shame to leave Gealabhat, but we had to continue our journey. A wonderful place to stay. Accomodation and food both of excellent quality and value. We would highly recommend it to everyone.

If you are looking for the perfect place to stay while visiting Lewis and the Callanish Stones, you have found it at Gealabhat Bed and Breakfast. Gregor is the perfect host in every way! We were so fortunate to have him lovingly prepare a candlelit dinner for us each night we were there…the warmth and delicious meals of his cosy home kitchen will long be remembered. We stayed in the Barn, our own spacious hideaway with breathtaking views and all the comforts of home. And to top it all…we were able to easily walk to the mysterious Callanais Standing Stones as often as we pleased…and found ourselves being the only ones there! Thank you Gregor for a very special stay!

We stopped at Gealabhat B&B on our cycling adventure along the Hebridean Way. The two nights were the most luxurious and delicious of our entire trip. The home-cooked meals and cozy rooms provided a much needed fuel and respite on the way. Gregor and Douglas were most welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The dinners and breakfasts were simply out of this world - we wouldn't stay anywhere else and are already hoping we can go back one day. A real gem - both in terms of the house and the hosts!!
