I've stayed at this hotel twice over the past two years while on holiday visiting family. The rooms are clean, spacious, and have all of the amenities you would want (air conditioning, hair dryer, TV, safe). The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast is plentiful, and they even take coffee orders to your liking! Worth every penny and I plan to use this hotel every time I come back to visit family.

Spent 3 nights here with my husband and we were more than happy. Our room was on the ground floor and was clean and well presented with everything we needed. Breakfast was good with a little of everything and good coffee. The staff are so warm and friendly and are happy to answer any questions you may have. The hotel is a 3 star and delivers on all levels for its star rating. I think when people review they have unrealistic expectations of basic hotels. Hotel Amarea ticked all the boxes for us in terms of location, cleanliness, staff and facilities. The girls even arranged our departure transfer to meet our ferry free of charge! We would stay here again in a heart beat. Keep up the good work!

We booked a "sea view" room for 5 nights through Hotels.com at Hotel Amarea in January this year for arrival in June. After numerous emails to the hotel, we were assured we had a sew view room on the "upper" level. When we arrived, we were given a room on the 2nd floor with side/partial views and views to other buildings. After having paid a premium price, we were not happy at all. We asked to speak to a manager and was told "she" would arrive the next day but we never saw the manager - so much for customer service. Our room was clean however the bed faced a concrete half wall so even if we wanted to look out the window, the wall was an obstruction. The shower was so tiny, you could barely move in it. The WiFi did not work in our room hence we had to go downstairs to use our computers. On the 3rd day when we had enough of the hotel and lack of service, we were offered a substiture refund for the "sea view" though still no manager in sight. Overall, very disappointing experience and would never go back. My family owns a travel agency - this hotel will NOT be recommended or booked as the photo shown on booking websites as a "sea view" is not what you get on arrival and is false advertising!

We had a family room which was on the ground floor near reception and facing the street. We did not have a problem with noise however the air con didn't seem to work very well (in all fairness we did not mention it to the hotel as we were only there for 2 nights). Breakfast was good, all sorts of usual Italian things including cakes, pastries, fruit, meats, cereals and yogurts. We left it late to book our ferry to take our car over and found that a) the main times during the days were already booked meaning we had to arrive late and leave early(but it was August) b) parking is on the street and difficult and c) we didn't need a car anyway. There seem to be a load of buses going along by the sea front, which is only a 2 minute walk away from the hotel. It was easy to get a boat trip out from the pier on the beach and spent a lovely afternoon and evening touring Panarea and Vulcano. I e mailed Carmela ,the receptionist, and asked her if she could book a restaurant for us. She chose (Brussola) which is right on the beach and it was a brilliant choice, just what we liked and she even let them know we were running late. She does not speak much English but we managed to communicate :-) Wished we could have stayed longer.

Stayed for three nights in late September. The hotel gave us a free transfer to and from the port in Lipari since it is located in Canneto, the next town over. Rooms were nice, located right next to a (rock) beach and a few restaurants. Only complaint is that the walls are too thin and our balcony window facing the street below had a fair bit of traffic noise.

Room Tip: try to get a room that doesn't face the street -- traffic noise, especially mopeds make it...
