Enjoyed a week here at the end of the season. The hotel itself is a very nice boutique property with spacious rooms and views of the sea. The setting is in a quiet bay called Kalafatis but is only a 15-20 minute drive to Mykonos Town. The staff here were fantastic. Sofia on reception, Kiki at breakfast (what a star) and the lads at dinner... all went out of their way to make your stay memorable. It is very obvious that they are well led & motivated in what they do. We rarely return to the same destination as there is a big world to see, but if we returned to Mykonos, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. An excellent experience.
The hotel is beautiful, it is small and exclusive. Everything is kept very clean and the staff are lovely. We booked a two room apartment with a private pool. We had a bad experience with a man in a neighbouring room who seemed to think everything was shared and used our pool on two occasions, and had to be told twice by the management that it was not so. It was both annoying and embarrassing. On several other occasions people attempted to use our private sunbeds. The trouble was that nothing was sectioned off, so some people were not aware that various apartments had exclusive or shared rights to the different pools. If the management want to keep the free look about the place they should at least inform the guests when they arrive as to where they can (and cannot) swim and sunbathe. We booked bed and breakfast (take your own kettle as there are not tea and coffee making facilities) and we ate in the restaurant in the evening on 3 occasions - the food was very good but it was the same choice every night (and not very extensive). We ate in a couple of local restaurants which were OK. Nesaea is about 8 mins away and the food was quite good. Petrino is nearer, about 4 mins away, and has a better atmosphere - very good if you like your plate piled high, we found it a bit much but the staff were lovely. I would recommend the hotel but do ask the management to make things clearer to guests - including how to work the TV and safe.
La Residence is a beautiful hotel with a wonderful team who make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive, and take special care of you every day.
The hotel is situated in Kalafatis, away from the old town, but an easy taxi or bus ride away from the well-known Mykonos sites. Right on the doorstep, though, there are great beaches and friendly local restaurants. (NB. Kiki and Dilia are mines of great local information!)
The hotel’s amazing taster menu is definitely not to be missed - their delicious food is a major highlight. Along with the unforgettable sea views...
Our time at La Residence was a total treat, and we can’t recommend it highly enough.
Mykonos is one of my favorite cities in Europe...I decided to stay here for a few days whilst exploring the island. Loved the hospitality and the attentive staff, the rooms were decorated tastefully with an authentic Greek vibe. You'll love the surroundings and the overall ambience.
I stayed with here for a girls trip at the end of July - it was just perfection!
To start - the hotel arranged for us to have complimentary pick up from the airport. We had a nightmare of a flight but then got whisked off to this oasis and greeted with a glass of bubbles. We went straight to the pool to relax on a bed and have cocktails and the holiday picked up from there!
This definitely isn’t a party hotel - it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind. The rooms all look out over the ocean and the pool and at nighttime there is a beautiful breeze coming from the ocean. It just felt so peaceful!
I didn’t love the decor in the rooms, but they are a great size, as are the bathrooms.
The staff are friendly and welcoming - and just go out of their way to help you. For example, i asked if they had grapefruit juice at breakfast and they went and squeezed me one especially and then remembered and got me one every morning after that! Small things like that just make such a difference. The food is fab too.
Location wise, although this is a 20/30m car ride away from Mykonos town, there are plenty of good restaurants, beach clubs and party beach spots (Spilia restaurant etc) nearby (walking distance) so it worked perfectly for us! We found it easy enough to get cabs to the town but at night you often need to wait 30m or so for them (so we would have a drink at the pool!).
Some of the other reviews mentioned flies... I saw the horses but I didn’t see a single fly while I was there so maybe this was a temporary problem. We had no problem getting beds and umbrellas at the main pool either!
Would go back in a heartbeat and recommended to all!

To eat in the hotel costs a fortune the portions are tiny. I mini burger and chips for lunch is exactly that I child would not be full. If you ordered a main course for dinner you would be €50 down and be going wtf. The potions are tiny we ate out all the while as did most the other residents who hadn’t been suckered into half board. I rarely saw anyone have lunch there.
We didn't end up staying at La Residence because in May nothing was open ... so we left and stayed in the township of Mykonos where everything was open! But I'm sure the sun would be there all the time as it is very open.
