Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great family friendly pub with well priced food and drinks. Large portions and fresh oil used for the deep fried food which was delicious. Highly recommend loaded wedges and fishermen’s basket. Great to support local businesses too. Cheers!

Visited here last weekend and had a great time. Very friendly staff and customers. We didn’t stay for food but wished we had as the local fish & chip shop was very poor. Good beer and good environment. We’ll be back!!

It's cheap and you do get a nice bed with good sheets. But I get the feeling the new motel being built means this old one has a limited life. The joinery is at the end of it's life and our bathroom window could not be closed. We were told our key would be in it's door but it wasn't and the man in reception was gone. The walls were not much of a barrier to noise next door. Our bathroom had been upgraded but the water pressure was a joke and the ceiling was a leftover.

It was probably reasonable value and one night was fine.

A group of 16 stayed here for two nights. A very welcoming hotel. Clean small budget rooms. Good hearty meals and bar prices much cheaper than we are used to in the city. The owners bent over backwards to accommodate our needs.

Great food, friendly staff. We ordered a sirloin steak meal and the fish meal. Both were superbly cooked and very full plates. We ate outside to catch the sun, and enjoyed the quietness of Kawhia. Were staying in a rented bach.
We missed the meal time next evening because we didn't check our watches, but the staff allowed us to order takeaways which were delicious also.

We got F&C from this Hotel three years ago and eagerly looked forward to a good feed again. We were not disappointed and in fact we think the quality has gone up. You can't beat fresh fish and hot chips :-)

Called here to use the bottle store and takeaway. As part of our order we ordered two veggie burgers and they consisted of salad, a fried egg and a pineapple. The accompanying French fries were nice though and the staff were friendly enough.

Went for dinner last night, what a letdown, fish delight was a frozen fish packet, mixed grill with two fried eggs great for a rugby player. Options were very limited.
Shame the cook could not source some locally caught fish!
