I live in Auckland and have never been to Kawhia - that’s an oversight. So on a gorgeous sunny spring day I set off for an overnighter and what a treat it was. I just had a night to spare because of work but the day was so beautiful that the coast beckoned. I arrived early afternoon and was warmly welcomed and directed to my little bolt-hole on the side of the harbour. I’d specifically chosen this unit because it abuts right to the waterside - nothing between the unit and the harbour. These little units are just as advertised - small, but I knew that and it is all I needed. There’s a decent comfortable queen bed, a kitchenette with microwave and a bathroom, that’s it. But that’s all you need and it is good value for the location. If you want to cook more, there’s a camp

After a hectic last couple of weeks of juggling work and battling winter coughs and colds, a weekend at this sleepy little seaside escape is just what the doctor ordered! Booking was easy, the drive out there is picturesque. The host, Kylie, is an absolute breath of fresh air. Welcoming, accommodating, and lovely and down to earth. The views are breathtaking. The water in front of the accommodation is not suitable for swimming as it is reedy, however the kids swam at the wharf which is within walking distance. Our large studio accommodation was modern, fresh and spotlessly clean; equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing weekend away. My only complaint would be having to leave on Sunday, for work on Monday.

We had a cabin overnight and it was clean warm and very nice. And the bed was comfortable. There was a camp kitchen there with all the things you would need for cooking etc and it was all very clean. The only thing I could comment on would be that the water pressure in the shower was very poor but that is not the fault of the premises I would think. Anyway not a big problem for sure. Nice stay.
