We have stayed at many places all over the world, obviously the quality of places may vary. However the hospitality should be the same and we couldn't fault Kylie for her infectious welcome thank you. Although the room was comfortable slightly overpriced it was quite damp during our stay. There were two cabins and we could hear all the noise from next door. It did rain which didn't help.We were right on the waters edge so waking up to the open sea was just very relaxing.Kawhia is a small seaside town unfortunately the food shops are not always open. There is always the beach for a refreshing swim.Just a shame the local Maori don't do any local tours to experience their beautiful culture. We will be back.

This is the only beach front camp, I book my family into this place every year. The camp is a short walk or drive into the villiage. There is a games room, with a tv, and kayaks to play in, on the water, which is right there. No other amp ground in Kawhia is this close to the water, or the villiage. A beautiful location and very comfortable accomodation.

It was more my husband's buzz than mine, as he loves fishing. I just felt there was nothing much to do, nothing much to see. The folks at the campsite were wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable of the local surroundings. We felt $135 for a port-a-com room was overpriced, sure it was right by the beach, but way too expensive. We were told to visit the museum we went there three times to find it closed, there was nothing on the door to say when it would be open. The fish at the fish and chip shop wasn't the best, considering it was caught there, you'd think for $6 it would have been spectacular, it wasn't. That's our experience, my husband said he'd come back but I'm not so keen.

This campground was smaller but had everything I needed. I had picked it because of its proximity to the "hot water beach" near by. I had a beautiful non powered tent site right on the water. They also have kayaks and bikes to rent. They lent me a shovel for free to dig my own "hot tub" at the beach. Would reccomend was very clean !

Didn’t Stay here as we were booked online by friends and did not realise they had a 2pm check in time that I think is silly for a van or tent site ,so if you arrive in kawhia at 9 or 10 in the morning you have a bit of a wait,
