Detailed Reviews
We had a two bedroom unit that had everything we needed without the bells and the whistles. Clean and warm it is a great place to stay. Great Kiwi hospitality at its best - we were given fresh fish at this outstanding fishing location. A very friendly holiday park with a good range of options.

We were very happy with our stay there and would happily stay there again or recommend to others. We felt it was good value for money, and a great spot to "switch off" and relax.
We stayed in one of their cabins for 5 nights and we really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was small and minimalistic, but very clean and the beds were really comfortable. The bunk beds had spring mattresses (not foam ones). Bedding and towels provided were in good condition. All of the equipment/appliances in our cabin were modern and in great condition.
Communal areas were always clean and tidy. Big fridges for food storage. Kitchen was modern, with four stations to use. Each station fitted with 2 hob induction stove top, oven, toaster, kettle and large sink. The kitchen is very well equipped with microwaves and a selection of crockery, utensils, pots, pans, etc.
Location was lovely and quiet, right on the harbour. Great place for kids, we felt it was really safe for kids to explore the campgrounds.
A 5min easy walk into the main street of Kawhia, where there's a petrol station, cafe, dairy, small art gallery, very small (and quaint) local library, fishing club and motel (for dinner or drinks in the evening), playground, skatepark, wharf, small museum and public toilets.

I stayed in Kawhia on my way home from Auckland. I was also attending an unexpected conference in Hamilton, which I went to from Kawhia.
Conrad, the owner, is a very warm gentleman. We had several brief chats while I was going to and from his holiday park. Another day I just crashed out in my motel unit and read - which I could do anywhere, of course, but looking out the window at the harbour now and then, in such peace and quiet, was just what I needed after a busy few days.
It was great value, the bed was very comfortable, and the unit had everything I needed. I got the two bedroom one which has a full kitchen and a good layout. The water was hot and plentiful, and there were extra blankets for chilly winter nights. It is a really good place to stay.

Arrive on Friday 16th February,2024 afternoon about 3.30pm chap that was suppose to be in the office wasn't there I was just about to leave after spending 10 minutes waiting for the manager to turn up told who I was he said I have put you close to ablutions block as I have a disability set my tent up, went for walk around to see what was available. Thought I would have early night going to sleep early as I had a long drive out to Kawhia but I had second thoughts along the front close to sea was a bunch of fisherman there for the weekend they were going out 6am Saturday morning on a boat fishing trip well they the chaps started drinking they drank to some godly hour like about 2am Saturday morning no one made any attempt to go and tell they were making to much noise as the sign on the wall said NO NOISE AFTER 10.PM well they must have drunk themselves to sleep because I was up early and they had gone walked down to wharf to catch there boat out all day fishing arrived back at 4pm and guess what happened they were back on the booze, noise not as much as Saturday/Sunday morning but the site there bottles, empty, cardboard boxes ,cans ,every where no one made the effort to clean it up but latter that evening chaps made the effort to clean up there site it seems some one did tell to clean up there site.I will not be returning again to thIs holiday camp as I thought that camp manager would have gone and told them to quieten down but nothing. The abulations block was clean, as was kitchen lady was there cleaning all that area was clean as toilets and showers all ok but it was just the noise from ten blokes and nothing was done to curb the noise loud talking and laughing. I paid $60 for 3 nights but after the 2 nights of loud taking I decided to move out I was on holiday didn't want all that noise and the office manager didn't even tell them off.

We had a cabin right on the water front, it was very clean and tidy and we had everything we needed. We definitely got value for money. The campers and caravans had plenty of room and moved about with a minimum of fuss. We would happily stay there again.

We had such a fabulous stay at this amazing campground. We do a lot of camping and it's the closest we've ever been to the water! Our kids 2 and 4 had a fun time exploring the premises, super safe friendly vibe. Trampoline was a hit. The hosts create the best vibe, sharing their local knowledge. We will be back for sure! The hoy water beach was fantastic, we preferred to coromandel.. the owner of the campsite even gave us a ride to the beach across the beach! Kids have been talking about it for weeks!

This was the first time that I have stayed here but it should have been sooner. A great place right by the beach and the facilities were good. I highly recommend it. They can cater for campers in caravans, motorhomes, like me, tents, motels and cabins.
It is only about 10 minutes from the centre and there are good walks and a hot water beach not far away.

This camp site was so nice and relaxing. We easily parked our caravan on a site where we had full sea views. The owner, Conrad, was very helpful and made us feel at home. It was a small cute camp with everything you need…. showers, toilets, kitchen lounge, laundry, fish cleaning. These facilities were clean and a pleasure to use. We’ll definitely be returning.

We loved staying here, it is the only campground on the waters edge in Kawhia, and to wake up to the view is simply fantastic. Conrad and his staff are friendly, helpful and work hard to keep the place lovely and clean. There is everything you could want, and only a few minutes walk into Kawhia with its shops, wharf, etc. We'll be back.

Absolutely ridiculous. Owner rude and quite clearly on drugs, staff have no idea what's been put in place, Came for a fishing charter, my room was given away and my belongings removed from the room without mine or my groups knowledge. Was moved from an ensuite room to a fold out couch with no bedding, and when confronted the owner was plain ignorant!!! Not to mention the noise all night from other guests! Well worth the moola- NOT. Should have just slept in my car!
