I use this hotel often when I travel to Sydney. It is a very good price for an excellent location. Rooms range from very tiny to very generous, so best to upgrade for space and better lighting. It is lightly staffed but they are always friendly when in attendance.

We love the location of the Savoy because it's in a quaint neighboorhood full of great shops and restaurants. We love the Savoy Hotel because of their very reasonable prices. It's a small hotel but the rooms are well appointed, the staff is great and the breakfast is nice (I think a continental breakfast is included). We stay here when we go to Sydney. it's not in the city center but close enough to a few bus lines and a train station that will take you only a few minutes to get to the CBD.

Yes it was a very small room (216), a Saturday night, but really the size of the room allowed a king sized bed and quite enough room around the bed to walk and noise was not a problem from other quests. Lovely clean towels etc, a wardrobe for jackets, shirts and long clothing didn't even use the air conditioning, coffee and tea and biscuits, soap shampoo and conditioner dispenser's. Probably the best most central hotel in Double Bay Sydney area. My wife and I had absolutely no problems and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cost was more than reasonable at $170 for the night.

Stayed at the amazing Savoy Hotel for 17 nights and it's with a light heart that I'd like to share my experience to all the travelers out there that are looking for a private oasis. How refreshing to see 'good old fashion' service alive and well. Savoy Hotel promotes a culture of inclusion and focuses on the principle of treating others how they would like to be treated themselves.Such a rare principle in today's climate and this in itself is a credit to the training skills of the Management team. Emotional intelligence plays a fundamental role in the evolution of customer service and the team at Savoy certainly shone through with this value. Rooms are great and contain everything needed, location is situated in the heart of Double Bay and every amenity is provided for. The price and rates are second to none. There is also a kitchen area with microwave, sandwich toaster, large fridge and ice machine just in case you decide to chill out and have a quiet night in. The balcony area overlooks Knox Street and be prepared to spot a Kookaburra or 2 as they sit on the balcony rail.
A special thanks to Katrina just for being herself, Suzzen and Stephen for their exceptional customer service and Soo for being so attentive and servicing my room with a smile on her face everyday.
Congratulations Savoy Hotel, with the team members you have on board, you really are something special.
Sincerely
Janine

My room room was not far from the reception desk
So really noisy with guests coming and going .
In my room the curtain was falling of the railing, the wardrobe doors needed a lot of work to open as also the bedside table draws. The toilet had not been cleaned properly or the bathroom floors . The bath was black with dirt.
Dora double bay hotel it was awful. But good location

Avoid this place if you can. Washed in stains on bedding. Uncomfortable bed and pillow. Carpet dirty. Bathroom dispensers empty. Bed one metre from door. Noise from other guests and air conditioning. This is not what I had expected from a mid price hotel in double bay. Wish I had read other trip advisor before letting my son book this room for two nights for us. We only stayed one night as I complained after the first night and heard nothing so we did not go back for the second night.

This is a great little hotel. Located on Double Bay, a suburb of Sydney. It's a 10 minute walk to the train station (up a pretty good hill) and a 5 minute walk to the ferry.

We had a deluxe room, which was spotlessly clean, with a high ceiling, although not huge. Our third night there (unplanned) we had a standard room. These face an interior courtyard so have no windows, and are quite small, but again, spotlessly clean and with all the amenities. We found both room sizes perfectly adequate, as all we needed it for was to sleep.

Double Bay is a very upscale section of Sydney, and has some beautiful architecture to look at, as well as boutique shopping and some great restaurants. It's about a 15 min train ride from the Circular Quay train station, which we found perfectly convenient.

Located in the downstairs of this hotel is a small restaurant. It serves asian food for lunch and dinner, but is the location where the hotel offers their breakfast offerings in the mornings. Our room rate included a continental breakfast, and it was the best we had our entire visit. It was all you could eat cereals, breads, fresh fruits, juices, coffee and tea. For a small price ($5.50 AU) you could have a hot cooked breakfast.

What really made this hotel special was the staff. They were wonderful. Very knowledgeable about Sydney and many other areas, even as far away as Cairns and Townsville. They were happy to let you check your e-mail in the evenings no charge (no web surfing though, and we didn't see an internet cafe anywhere nearby). We got advice on car rentals, traveling to the Blue Moutains - everything.

I highly recommend this small hotel. It made a wonderful first impression of Sydney.

It has been some time since I stayed there and as a fairly frequent traveller not many hotels stick in my mind but this one did. For a start we were travelling on a family holiday and booked one of the inter-connecting rooms. What struck us most was the enthusiastic and friendly nature of the receptionist, which seemed to apply to all the hotel staff and I really think that this is what makes a stay in any hotel memorable. Apart from this the hotel is in a great position (directly opposite the Stamford) and we really enjoyed the walks around Double Bay. Will definately be on my list when I am next in Sydney.

We loved this little hotel in Double Bay, it is away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD and the suburb of Double Bay is pleasant clean and reasonably quiet. The best thing about the hotel was the staff-- they were so incredibly helpful-- even gave us an unused bus pass that a former guest left behind and answered all our questions, kept our luggage (no charge) while we went to the Hunter Valley, and offered lots of advice about sightseeing and restaurants. Rooms are small but adequate, showers/bath rooms are all newly upgraded with nice fixtures, and you can get breakfast in the hotel. Price is quite reasonalbe, we booked the internet special for $110 for 2 people with twin beds which was a real bargain!

Double Bay is just 4 stops on the train from downtown, and the train station is a ten minute walk from the hotel (uphill mind you, dont plan on lugging your luggage up the hill) The buses stop just a block from the hotel and best of all its a short walk to the ferry terminal where you can catch a ferry to Circular Quay. Lots of restaurants that are reasonably priced, but shops are expensive.

There's an easy ferry to Circular Quay a few blocks away. Also regular bus service. Use google maps for specific info. Be sure to get an Opal card.

Hi Alma, yes it is. cannot remember the room numbers but they are on level three of the hotel. There are also some rooms that face Knox Lane which runs at the rear of the hotel and they have a smaller terrace but the rooms are larger. There is a great pub across the road about 50m away and some great restaurants. I go to Sydney every couple of months for work, sometimes with my wife and sometimes on my own and found the Savoy last year after about 12 years of staying in different hotels largely in the CBD and Darling Harbour. Now I only ever stay at The Savoy and it is not down to value for money as I do not foot the bill but because the hotel is friendly and Double Bay is just so well located. Hope you have a wonderful wedding anniversary. Cheers. David
