I cannot rate this motel highly enough. Absolutely perfect central location. Everything in walking distance. Large supermarket, excellent cafes, restaurants and boutique shops on your doorstep. Short drive to all the wineries in the Hawkes Bay.

The motel itself is also fabulous. You couldn’t ask for a more lovely host to welcome you. It’s very peaceful considering it’s central location, very little noise.

Then there’s the rooms with SPA BATHS!
I loved it!! Huge bath to relax in. Nice comfy king beds, spacious (serviced) rooms. Wheelchair access showers.
HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend.

This is a centrally-located motel, with incredibly spacious rooms. Great to spread out in after travelling. Rooms were very quiet, even when the motel was full.

Spotlessly clean and the spa baths in the rooms were amazing. Air conditioning worked well and a nice strong shower. Great kitchenette with everything you could need.

Staff were super welcoming and friendly - what more could you ask for?

My husband and I booked through a hotel booking site and stayed six nights. Our first thoughts on entering were how shabby the unit was. The carpet by the bathroom was frayed, the bathroom door had suffered from water damage and had a hole in the back of it. Not a major on it’s own, but later we found the fan above the spa bath was not working but the sensor kept clicking. The TV flicked on and off with the fridge. The shower flooded the whole bathroom floor. One day, we returned to find the towels had been changed, but the bed was still unmade. Next day, the bed appeared to be made till we turned it down and found the sheets still crumpled.
I raised these issues with the manager who said we should not turn the shower on high to prevent the floor flooding. Also, she said the staff don’t ‘make’ the bed, they just ‘tidy’ it!
She was clearly unhappy she was losing money to the booking site and that we had tied the room up for six nights. Maybe we got the bad room as a penalty?
This unit was certainly not good value for money and we will not return to Village Motel.

We stayed at the Village Motel for three nights while visiting family. We arrived late in the evening having phoned ahead and check-in was without a hitch. The room, complete with a spa bath, was more than adequate for our needs, a very comfortable bed and a good size bathroom.very good guest laundry facilities and helpful staff.
If we come back to Havelock North this is where we will be staying.
Thank you for an excellent stay!

We arrived on a miserable night pelting with rain. The owners had the lights and heat pump on in our room so that it was warm and welcoming. Check in was easy and efficient and friendly. Our unit was on the first floor upstairs and was a spacious room with king bed, kitchenette, Sky television and a hot tub. It was very comfortable, although the bathroom was a little quirky in its design. The location is great - just cross the road and you are in the middle of town, supermarket two minutes walk away. Basic but comfortable and affordable, we would definitely stay again.

Very easy check in with friendly staff. The room was clean and tidy with air-conditioning which was lovely as it was very hot outside!! My room had a wonderful large spa bath for me to relax in, the bathroom had seen a few guests in its time but it had a good shower and was clean.

I settled on the Village Motel as I was working in Havelock and had no vehicle
I had tried the new Porters Hitel and hadn’t been too impressed by a haughty sterile environment
Overall Village Motel is a traditional kiwi motel
On the plus side the rooms are spacious and have kitchenette to have breakfast
On the negatives it is dated and also they missed servicing my room one day of three.
Overall a good experience and great customer service

Good points were the Sky TV and spa bath / shower. Nice enthusiastic welcome and check out. Place itself is ageing and needs a bit of refurb. Not my taste in colours at all. Handy to the village, shops, restaurants, supermarket, local gym and cafes. Good solid 3.5 stars👍
