Detailed Reviews
The hotel is centrally located in Havelock North and close to the village amenities which are also good. Excellent restaurants and cafes close by. Great location for visiting the Hawkes Bay wineries.
Our room was large and very comfortable with a huge bed, baby kitchenette area with coffee tea etc and also crocks and cutlery, large walk in shower and double basin in the bathroom.
There are some excellent touches. There is a courtesy light in the bathroom so no need to turn the light on at night and the bathroom has a heated floor - very luxurious. The hotel has a free laundry room with extremely clear instructions for the washers and dryers, and washing powder provided. It was very frequently used during our visit.
The staff were lovely and friendly. They provided good advice on where to find things etc. A very well run establishment that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.

We stayed one night after an unexpected trip to Havelock North, this hotel did not disappoint, spacious modern, great little touches like sensor lighting in the bathroom and a walk in shower. It’s an extremely handy location, we could walk to any number of cafes and restaurants. The bed and pillows were great, which is often not the case even with expensive hotels. I would definitely stay here again.

Had a great stay at this lovely hotel. Rooms are nicely done, extremely clean and have with very thoughtful amenities including a bathroom sensor light which is so useful at night. Beds seemed hard but are very comfortable that allowed good nights sleep. Car parking underground is an added bonus making it so easy to access the hotel with luggage. Whilst we didn’t use the restaurant we did have a bar snack in the restaurant bar which was very nice with friendly service.
My only complaint was breakfast, we stayed 2 nights at the hotel but didn’t have breakfast, we wanted it on our second day but the restaurant doesn’t open early and we needed to leave. I think a 9am start is far too late, the hotel isn’t thinking about its guests properly.

Good afternoon shrop, Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent visit and I'm pleased to see you had a great stay. I'm sorry you weren't able to have breakfast in Malo restaurant due to the opening time of 9am. Malo is a privately owned restaurant and manage their own opening hours. For this reason we have made arrangements for our guests to dine at Maina Resturant if they wish to dine before 9am. Maina are located adjacent to the hotel complex; 50 meters from the hotel lobby and are currently open from 7am Monday to Friday and 8am on the weekends. We have also added a selection of continental breakfast items to our minibar for those that need to leave the property prior to 7am. I apologise for any inconvenience and thanks again for your feedback, Kylie

Great stay, in a lovely spacious room with a balcony. Very clean, quiet and easy parking. Walking distance to everything in Havelock North.
Really nice to see re-usable body wash/shampoo product containers in the rooms too - much less plastic waste.
The team were very friendly, and although we didn't dine there, the restaurant looked great. We did use the Tesla destination charger downstairs, which had been kindly coned off for our use.

Great location, nice room, service is great. Really good restaurant for breakfast. The rooms are very spacious, clean and the bed was comfy. The lobby is nice with friendly staff and has a homey feeling with lollies and books.
Also the restaurant, Malo, is very good for breakfast. There is a great outdoor space with heating. Amazing service on Boxing Day 2019 (thank you).
My only negative is that we paid $370 for a regular room which is pretty high – compared with others accommodation around Havelock. We did stay on Christmas day so I assume this was a peak rate. I see the non-peak rate is more like $245 which is about right.

Good afternoon justine555, Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay. It is great to see you were able to enjoy breakfast in Malo restaurant during your stay and I will pass on your lovely comments to the restaurant owners and staff. Yes, as per your feedback, rates are higher throughout the festive season and fluctuate dependent on room availability at the time of booking. Rates for a double room range in price between $245 to $430 per night. Warm regards, Kylie

We stayed at Porters on our honeymoon, and had a lovely card from the hotel staff waiting for us on our bed along with a gift when we walked in. The suite we had was huge, modern, and very comfortably laid out, with a large lounge/kitchen/dining area, separate bedroom, and large bathroom, with equally big shower and a deep bath.
I found the mattress on the bed too firm and this is my only criticism.
There was secure parking beneath the hotel which we used.
The hotel is over the road from a supermarket, restaurants, small shops and a few bars (central Havelock) so it's perfectly situated.

I love coming back to Porters Hotel in the lovely village of Havelock North. The staff here are always so welcoming and accommodating, providing all the comforts of home. The rooms are exceptional, the size being a lot bigger than your standard 'stuffy' hotel room. Linens and attention to detail with the features of the room do not go unnoticed. In-house dining is superb and the Smith and Sheth wine bar located on the ground floor is always exceptional.

Good, clean, quiet hotel in good location in the middle of a very sleepy but prosperous North Havelock. Room fine but kitchenette had all the facilities but no microwave or hob for heating or cooking food. There were though many, many different restaurants all around within walking distance to suit even a well travelled and jaded palate such as ours! Carpet and chairs in the room were in need of a clean. Reception staff were helpful though not hugely communicative and tended to ignore you once you had checked in. Underground parking out of the 28C sun was a bonus. Breakfast was in Maina restaurant which was nothing short of fabulous. The place was busy (8.10am) but once we had ordered at the counter and got to our table, things started arriving quickly. This was our best breakfast in NZ in 5 weeks!

I like "new", Porters Boutique Hotel in Havelock North met with our approval.
Lovely & clean, smart furnishing, great towels etc....
The location is outstanding for visiting the local Boutiques around the village of Havelock North.
Check in was smooth, clear & concise instructions about parking & accessing the building.
We extended our stay by one night, gave us the opportunity to travel to Napier.
So much to see & do around the Hawkes Bay area.
Will return.... support local NZ!!

Stayed here for 3 nights over the New Year Holiday. Great hotel, friendly and helpful staff mate for a quick effortless checkin. Room was luxurious and spacious. Nice little deck for a drink, bathroom was clean and modern. Good parking underneath hotel.
Right in town, so an easy walk to bars and restaurants. The on-site restaurant called Malo was good, a bit pricey but don’t mind paying for good food and cocktails.
Would definitely stay here again next time In Town
