What a beautiful meal we had, so hard to choose which dishes to have, they all sounded so lovely on paper but that's not uncommon is it? when the starters came, wow they looked like something you'd be served at the ritz, same with mains and deserts which have a great twist on what you'd expect. They are as colourful as they are tasty.
Anthony the chef is an absolute gem, his attention to detail wow, food was hot and fresh, not only looked appetising but definitely the tastiest. pictures don't do them justice but trust me you wouldn't be served food this good at the Chard!
The pub is homely, comfortable and has a really nice vibe, the staff are very attentive, friendly and feel full of happiness while being very professional, they know the menu and are happy to advise and they don't keep bothering you while you eat but are available if you need them.
Connor the owner is so lovely, he has a great pub, outstanding food and absolutely amazing staff. Give it a go you won't be disappointed especially for a special occasion.
Well done Connor, Anthony and team for an outstanding fantastic evening. I've already recommended to friends and family

We have stayed here before and certainly weren't disappointed. The room was comfortable with an excellent shower. There was an impressive dinner menu for a fairly small pub. I had a delicious home made soup-red pepper, squash and goat's cheese and my husband had the spoonettes-3 different types (see photo). I then had pork loin with asparagus , potato fondant and gravy and my husband had the beef Welleington-both excellent. We finished with Afogato and ice-cream. My Eggs Benedict for breakfast was also delicious. The pub is on a busy road, so there is some traffic noise, but overall strongly recommended

This was a perfect stop off on our way home from visiting family in Shropshire. Ideal location just off the M4 with a lovely warm welcome. The service and environment was exceptional and just what you need from a country stay on a dreary autumn afternoon. Very happy with accommodation which was excellent value for money.

I should be currently travelling to this accommodation for a 2 night stay my son booked for me on 04/11 as a birthday gift but due to a complete mess up, I am not!
This stay was booked and paid in full at the time of booking, through Booking.com
My son alerted us to a missed call on 09th and subsequent voice message on 11th from the Old House at Home.
As a result, my husband called on the 11th to check what the missed calls were about.
He was told that Booking.com had messed up and they did not have the availability that we'd paid for.
They could still let us have the Friday night (tonight) and suggestions / alternatives were offered to the effect, we could have the Thursday instead of Saturday, move the whole booking to a later date, or just keep the Friday night.
My husband asked if they needed to know what our preference was by a certain date and was told no, as long as before the date of stay.
We looked at booking a Saturday night elsewhere in the area and other options but eventually decided, we'd stick to the 1 night on the Friday 29/11 and just make the best of it.
We called back on 25/11 and my husband was then told, they no longer had availability on the Friday, our room had been sold to someone else!!!??
I contacted the Old House at Home and was told they'd called twice and left a voice message but because they'd not gotten hold of us, they had asked Booking to take over communication and rearrange accommodations elsewhere as it had been them that messed up in the first place!
We never heard a anything from Booking.com and my son checked (I made sure to also look at his missed call history) no missed calls with voice messages from the Old House at Home so not sure who they called but it wasn't us??
When asked why they didn't email us, they said they didn't have our email but having booked through Booking.com on numerous occasions, contact from the accommodation is something I often receive so unsure why this wasn't a facility used on this occasion!?
So we'd not requested cancellation or a refund.
We'd paid in full and they still had our funds and yet they had resold our reservation!
The first issue we were disappointed about but, these things happen.
The fact they decided it was acceptable to sell a room again that had already been sold, I find an absolute disgrace!
The response from the hotel was they could recommend other venues in the area or possibly accommodate us on the Friday in their sister hotel approx 23 miles away.
I decided I'd rather have nothing more to do with a business that acts this way and have a day trip out instead of what should have been a nice breakaway!
Good points: Apologetic email reply and swift refund of payment once requested.

My wife had bought a lunch deal voucher for the OHH. It’s been a couple of years since we ate there and we were both looking forward to it. My wife had the warm goats cheese on crostini with salsa verde to start, which she said was delicious. I had the crab and mozzarella balls, which unfortunately were both stodgy and tasteless. For mains we had the duck breast (which was a little over cooked) and I had the steak, which was lovely and pink but charred on the outside. The char made it taste a little bitter. The service was slow but to be fair there was only one barman/waiter on duty. Overall, it was disappointing but we will give them another go in the future

Just returned from an excellent weekend stay. My husband had stayed here a few years ago for work and was keen to return. We thought the standard of the rooms was very high: well-furnished, lovely walk-in shower, impeccably clean and plenty of tea and coffee options. Good breakfasts and we also booked for an evening meal. The warm welcome and friendliness of all the staff made our stay very relaxed and enjoyable.

Stayed for 2 nights in October for my Birthday treat.
We had booked a superior room and was happily surprised when we arrived to find we had been upgraded to the apartment ☺️
Everything was spotlessly clean, and the facilities were fantastic.
We slept brilliantly even though the mattress on the bed was a little soft for our liking. But that didn't spoil our stay one bit.
The Pub/Restaurant area again was spotlessly clean and very well furnished and decorated and had a lovely ambience.
We had Breakfast and evening Meals there on both days, and the food was all cooked to perfection and presented beautifully.
The only tiny negative was, my Husband likes his Ales and there was only 2 of them on draught, both were Amber Ales and were very similar, he would have liked to have seen a lighter Golden Ale on for more choice! Just personal preference.
All the staff there were amazing and friendly and very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
We would highly recommend this place and will definitely stay again when we are next in that area.
Thank you to All Staff at The Old House at Home. You're all doing an awesome job.
Oh and Thank You for the free Birthday Prosecco 🥂

We have eaten here many times over the years and it's always been good but this time it was absolutely outstanding and on another level. Newish Headchef - all 4 of us were extremely impressed and would highly recommend this restaurant. We had beef, pheasant, fish and desserts all of which were delicious

Have been dining here for some 10 yrs when we visit Badminton Horse Trials. The food has been wholesome and the service friendly and efficient, despite being so busy because of the Trials. How presently surprised we were today to discover the food has become excellent . Apparently the OHH has been sold out of a group and is now individually owned. A new head chef has joined bringing top quality, creativity and a wonderful menu. Staff still friendly and obliging. Wished we didn’t live 100mls away, but would be well worth the journey.
