Hotel's Favourite
My family and I left Toronto on August 28 2023 and arrived in PEI on the 29th having pre-booked a cottage in Tracadie for 2 weeks. The only thing I will say about the cottage is that it was inhabitable.
We decided to drive to Charlottetown, find a hotel for one night and return to Toronto.
Having stayed at a number of Quality Inns driving to and from Florida, for many years finding a Quality Inn for one night in downtown Charlottetown was a breath of fresh air and what a find!
The kindness, warmth and compassion shown to us by Tanya Bevin General Manager and the young lady at reception touched our hearts. Tanya was able to secure two suites for us for one night, one at the Sutherland House and the other at Holland Grove House two separate buildings outside the main hotel. A read on the history of the ‘Inn on the Hill’ and the two buildings is a must. The Inn is within walking distance of virtually everything.
The two suites were unbelievably clean with a four poster king size bed, armchairs, desks, A/C, TV, fireplace, bay windows, wood floors and a kitchenette equipped with a full fridge, microwave, table and chairs. The bathroom had a shower etc. and outside the bathroom was a tub with a privacy screen. We had more towels than we would ever use. All the comforts of home, plus. Exactly what we needed for a good night’s rest after a horrific start to our PEI holiday.
Tanya, excellent job in selecting, training and mentoring all members of your team. This is what sincere and warm hospitality ought to be. You, Francie, Jenn, Cathy, Sanjeedah, cleaning staff and Mayra in the dining room have shown us just that. Your team has commitment, superior people skills, attention to detail, teamwork, enthusiasm and a great attitude. You and your entire team bring your A-game every day and night and always with a smile. Thank you.
.
Needless to say, we decided to stay for another week.
There is so much to do and see that a week is not long enough.
From the quaint villages, red sand and cliffs, lighthouses, beaches, seafood restaurants and bars, some with live music, The Farmer’s Market on Sundays, numerous historical buildings, shopping on Victoria Row, the waterfront, the Anne of Green Gables shop, farms, fishermen bringing in their day’s catch at the North Shore, hiking trails, places of worship and so on. Let’s not forget the gentleness of the Islanders.
As Charlottetown has been the birthplace of Confederation since 1864 every street walked, every building and every corner passed envelops you with history. Living in downtown Toronto, I was in awe.
So many adventures and more history is waiting for us. We are already planning a return trip to PEI next year.

This was the seventh stop on our road trip to the maritimes. We stayed at the Inverness House, it’s not connected to the main building but it’s less than a minute walk away. There’s lots of parking right out front of the building. It was a very large suite with a full sized fridge and freezer, a microwave, sink, basic dishes, cutlery, tea towel and dish soap. The air conditioner was a bit noisy but it worked well, there was also a nice fireplace. The hot water and internet were good, there were lots of usb outlets and plugs around the room. The breakfast was really good, they give you four choices of a la carte. There was a scrambled egg breakfast, a breakfast sandwich, a waffle and fruit, or a muffin, fruit, cereal, and yogurt. The location was great, we were a short 10 minute walk to the boardwalk and trails and there were a lot of restaurants on our street. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in Charlottetown!

My daughter and I stayed here 4 nights last week as part of a road trip and this hotel was truly the highlight of our trip.
We booked towards the end of June and the only room available was a deluxe king suite with a jacuzzi and kitchenette. It was a little over what I was looking to spend initially but I figured it being so close to everything downtown would probably be worth it.
The check in was great and we even got homemade cookies as a welcome treat. Our room was in the adjacent heritage building, a beautifully restored house. The hallways and carpet looked beautiful and clean. We opened the door to our room and wow it was huge and felt like our own grandiose apartment. I’d estimate it at about 400 sf with 4 large windows, high ceilings, original wood floors, king size bed, huge 2 person jacuzzi tub and bathroom with a walk in shower. It also had a kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave, plates and cutlery, AND a fireplace.
A sit down breakfast with waiters serving food was complimentary ( we still tipped but most didn’t seem to), there were 4 choices and we could never finish our plates.
Location is very walkable and we didn’t use our car the whole time we were there.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we added an extra night to our 3 night stay.
We saw some of the other rooms while housekeepers were preparing them for future guests and they looked just the same but on a much smaller scale.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I’m thé type of person that prefers don’t write anything before write a bad review for a business because I do understanding how hard can be for business to build and keep a good reputation but I’m writing to prevent others clients about this.
Yesterday after 4 hours driving, we arrived to this hotel after 9:00 pm and the guy in the reception (Mike) told sus that Booking.com cancelled our reservation (3 nights) and that unfortunately they just have one room for one night, that btw was $50.00 more expensive that the price we booked.
The guy mentioned that doesn’t worth call Booking.com because recently they do not answer the phone during the weekends and that all those companies like Booking.com recently were offering bad service: cancelling reservations, not answering the phones, over selling rooms etc ( I want to clarify that my experience with Booking.com was great)
So instead take the only room that Mike offered me, I decided call other places around.
In the app the Booking.com almost everything look sold out because is a long weekend.
I call directly the comfort inn hotel and they did have one room available, so I decided to go in person to the Comfort Inn, that I think is the same business franchise (choice privilege consortium) we made our reservation, just preventing that I loose the few options of disposability around.
Once I was in my room, we decided to call Booking.com to find out what was the problem and the lady from Booking.com was very friendly and said that will call to the quality inn hotel because Booking.com never cancelled my reservation, she called me back to said that my reservation still available that maybe was a miss understanding but confirmed that we were in the right hotel that we booked because there are two quality inn hotels in Charlottetown,
Anyways at that time we were already installed in the comfort inn and we’re tired we decided to don’t go back to the quality inn.
By the way, at the reception at comfort inn that we are now said that during these days we won’t have housekeeping so we need to make our bed and keep clean the room but the charges us as if they offering the cleaning service, something it’s not right with these hotel franchises.
So if you experienced something like this please call Booking.com , Expedia or whatever other website that you use to book your rooms, they will clarifying and solve the issue.
I guess being a long weekend, the quality inn planned to sell our room in a higher price and that’s why they were trying to not provided me my original reservation. I found that Mime was very pushy trying to sell me one night only in a higher price with only one bed.
My apologies that my English is not perfect, English is my second language.

Good morning, I am very sorry for the misunderstanding. We did not have a reservation under your name. When you book online by a travel agent or booking site it is the policy to call them when you have an issue. As they are getting paid a commission by your booking. Your reservation was booked under a completely different name never given to us. There are 4 hotels on Prince Edward Island under Choice Hotels Canada. With bookings made online by guests reservations are made at different properties in error daily. I am glad our front desk agent was able to find you another room as most hotels were sold out with it being a long weekend. Once again I am sorry for the inconvenience. Tanya

We recently booked with the Inn on the Hill for their Girls Night Wine package.
From start to finish the experience was excellent. Since my last stay this property the hotel has undergone updates including modernizing the lobby and restaurant to a classy- elegant feel! Upon check in the agent was friendly and helpful as our room was ready and she allowed us to arrive early:) We were four to a room with lots of space and found the beds were very comfortable.
We ordered apps/supper from the restaurant which was delicious and then ate from the restaurant again before checking out in the morning. Our watiress was friendly and attentive and breakfast was tasty and filling ( great sized potions and the added bonus was it was included with our package!)
All 8 of us enjoyed our stay so much so we are already planning another Girls Night at the Inn!

Booked via choicehotels.com for 143$ per night for 2 nights. Early check in was friendly and efficient, and was provided a few cookies.
Room was located in the Sutherland House behind the hotel. on second floor. Very nice building but if you need an elevator, stay in the main building.
Room had a king bed, LCD TV with decent channel selection, wifi, good view, modern yet cosy feel, good bathroom.
Breakfast is included. You get a choice of 4 breakfast prepared by the restaurant. I had the eggs, sausage, bacon and homefries, very generous. It comes with scrambled but you may ask for over easy (only 1 egg, extra for additonal eggs). Gluten free bread is an option (1 slice).
No gym or pool but they provide day passes to the university facilites (you will need a car).
One warning, if you are returning to YYG by cab, add an extra 30 minutes wait given there is not much cabbies in town.

We had to book a last-minute room through a central booking site for Comfort Inn in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Fiona. If I had been hunting for a week, I couldn’t have found a better room than the Quality Inn and Suites in Charlottetown. When we went to register, we were told that we were in the “heritage section” of the hotel, which was otherwise a mid-rise building in the heart of downtown. This transpired to be two heritage homes that had been purchased by Quality Inn and turned into suites that maintained the original floors and woodwork with modern plumbing.
Gorgeous – what a brilliant corporate gesture to maintain the streetscape in a heritage area. It was charming and comfortable with furniture appropriate for the period. We had a small issue with a heating vent and the manager came over within minutes to fix it. The stay also included a to-order breakfast (pretty impressive, considering they were coming out of a blackout), which was excellent, served by one of the sunniest waitresses we encountered all trip. We would definitely visit again.

I didn't realize when I booked the room, that I booked a room in one of the Historical Houses beside the Main Hotel. An amazing suprise, for sure!
It was a beautiful suite, with a large kitchenette (full size fridge, and stocked dinning and silverware). The beds were super comfortable, and the bedroom and sitting areas were large, and well appointed.
Super close the the downtown area, which is an added bonus!
The front desk staff were friendly!
The breakfast was very good, and again, the staff working in the dinning room were alos so friendly. It was nice to have an sit down breakfast, rather than a buffet style.

We chose to stay here for a night after having car trouble on a road trip to PEI. The front desk staff were so helpful and friendly, including storing our luggage while our car was being repaired. The location is great, as without a car we were able to walk everywhere. There are so many great shops and restaurants plus the waterfront nearby. The room was clean and comfortable and the included breakfast was a choice of four hot and cold choices that you ordered in the hotel's restaurant. Another good stay at a Quality Inn.

First visit to PEI in 25+ years and I stayed here for two nights. Very impressed with the hotel. First remember to book either hotel direct or thru Choice Hotels because if you are a CP member, as a thank you they give you a gift of cookies to say thank you for being a choice privilege member.
My room was in immaculate condition and just was I needed to have a weekends getaway. However if you have mobility issues the suites are not in the main building but in the two adjacent converted homes, so no elevator.
Breakfast is included and was a great options due to covid. They gave you coupons and you just hand them to the server and place your order.
Will definitely stay again next time I go to the island.
