The Chelsea Hotel Toronto offers a central location favored by guests for exploring the city, though some have raised concerns about noise and safety in the vicinity. A number of travelers commend the hotel for its amenities, including a pool, yet the rooms often receive criticism for being outdated and not well-maintained.
While opinions on service vary from friendly to disappointing, especially in terms of room service and maintenance, guests are divided on the hotel's value, noting reasonable rates on one hand but costly parking and food on the other.

I stayed in a Studio Kitchenette room for 2 nights.
Positives: Excellent location; very easy to get to from the Gardiner. Staff were all very friendly and courteous, from front desk to restaurant staff to cleaning staff. Good on-site restaurant selections; decent breakfast buffet and dinner options at the Market for a reasonable price. Convenient 24 hour underground parking with unlimited in/out privileges; bonus that parking lasted until 2pm on my last day. Room and balcony were clean and spacious. Kitchenette was well stocked with dishes, utensils, glassware, cookware. There was a full size fridge/freezer, countertop stove, microwave and kettle. Blackout curtains were effective in blocking out light. Plenty of drawer and closet space. Mattress and pillows were comfortable.
Negatives: No coffee machine in room. The complimentary instant coffee was bad quality and very little creamer was supplied. Fridge door was ajar upon arrival. Air conditioning took almost a full day to cool down the room, so it was stuffy the first night. No room service option to deliver dinner, and no answer at the Market when I tried to call and place an order for pickup. No cushions on the couch other than seat cushions, and the arms were not comfortable to lean on. Balcony door was very difficult to lock and would not stay closed when unlocked. No USB port on any outlets for charging. Towels and facecloths were worn and rough. Overall: Given the price, I was surprised to find so many amenities low quality or lacking altogether. I would likely return but book a smaller, lower cost room for the sake of the great location and parking package.

This is a very large hotel with four entrances. This can be confusing as the Niagara bus tours pick up from different entrances (rear/front) so beware of this. The are also different coloured lifts/elevators that go to different floors so get the correct one! There was a long queue/line for reception/check in when we arrived and appeared to be present everytime we were in the lobby. Our room was on the 8th floor and we could clearly hear traffic all the time (maybe pack earplugs?). The hotel is located in an urban area not far from a main shopping mall, metro and restaurants. You need to get the metro to CN tower, etc. We had a twin room of two queen size beds that were comfortable. The bathroom was rather basic with a shower curtain. Breakfast was crowded and seemed expensive, but we soon learnt that everything in Canada is expensive! Room rate was also expensive, in my view, adertised on the back of the room door as $589 for two persons for our room. The hotel has a pool on the 27th floor and a viewing gallery that gives a good view of the surrounding city. Overall was adequate but I have stayed at much better for a similar cost.

Our travel agent booked us into this hotel on our first night. We requested a walk in shower as my wife has mobility / balance issues and uses crutches. Our son was travelling with us and we also requested rooms nearby. The room we were assigned was a very long way from the lift which was very difficult after a long flight, and my son was assigned a room 2 floors up and on the opposite end of the hotel. Our room was very poor. The shower was dirty and very tired and the window glazing was blown. The sound proofing was non existent and the road noise was very apparent late into the night. Our son’s room was better as it had been refurbished which is why we gave 3 stars We passed on breakfast as it was $33 We didn’t like Toronto and will probably not return. We only stayed for a trip to Niagara

Water slide is only open at intermittent times (which are not posted when they are open so you can never know) and there are also height restrictions so shorter or smaller children cannot experience it, which we found out the ONE TIME we went during our 5 day stay it was open that our 7 year old could not go down. Rooms were outdated and old, pillows were lumpy and ugly. No additional duvets available just the small scratchy fleece blankets. Bathroom was extremely small (your knees could almost touch the door from the toilet and happened with my husband who is over 6 feet) and had loose faucets and towel holder that kept falling off. Kitchenette was also very small (smaller than bathroom with just one small wall with cupboards and appliances and a 3 foot walkway in front) with a mini fridge and countertop stove with no oven. Concierge was very helpful with helping us plan events however and housekeeping were sweethearts. There are multiple entrances so you don’t need to walk around the block to enter hotel if you go out to explore (except after 10pm-6am when they lock some doors) location is alright and fairly close to subway stations and shopping center as well as the Yonge-Dundas square. All were a short walk away.

You would think they would give you a clean room, the bathrooms are always disgusting when that should be the main area of focus. Then you add on the ignorant housekeeper that doesn’t listen to you and you find out that your wants and needs don’t matter because housekeeping decides to kick you out of your room you’ve paid $1000 for a weekend for. She cleaned my room and left all my dirty diapers on the balcony.

Frankly I am beyond disappointed. This was a special trip to celebrate my birthday with my family as I had no treated myself to anything since before covid, and had experienced a year from h$#@. I was so excited for this past weekend and left in tears from disappointment after disappointment with the Chelsea Hotel.
Working with billing just to get them to update my credit information was a several day process of inefficient communication. Tried calling and was met by rude reception, and then billing didn't want to even help me. Now upon looking at my credit card, I will have to deal with them all over again as it looks like I was charged far too much.
When we got there, we realized both of the two rooms I booked were significantly smaller than advertised, missing several amenities listed on the website, no room service options, abhorrently overpriced food in the grab and go that tasted like... well.. no taste.
The rooms did not actually have a proper coffee machine.. but rather an electric kettle and horrible instant coffee. So if you wanted brewed coffee you needed to go and pay absurdly for it downstairs.
Family pool never had towels, teenage lifeguards had miserable attitudes, parking cost an arm and a leg, and frankly the entire experience was just so below sub-par.
I get this is a cheap hotel for downtown Toronto but it really wasn't worth it. I cannot recommend this to anyone without making sure they know what they are getting into. This is going to give you roadside motel with some extra sparkle to throw your senses off.

Just come back from 9 day stay at the Chelsea hotel and we were so impressed from the minute we stepped into the hotel to the day we checked out. The staff are wonderful could always help with anything and were great with kids, we were given a room on the the 15th floor which is high up and I was abit warey if going on the balcony as you were very high up so would recommend a low floor for kids or balcony with netting like our family had in her room. The beds were so comfortable and the room was quite spacious and had loads of room for us. The cleaners/housekeeping were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurants we found a it pricey so we only had drinks in the hotel but you are minutes walk from Yonge Dundas Square and the Eaton Centre and the subway to take you all over the city. Great stay would defo come back to the Chelsea Hotel when next in Canada. Defo would recommend a trip to Niagara Falls whilst in Toronto, they are magical in real life!

We chose this hotel based on it being the largest in Toronto and the “friendliest hotel in Toronto,” as well as its claims that it was newly renovated. It was, indeed, a massive hotel, and our room had a beautiful city view from the 15th floor, but be aware that not all rooms are renovated, and they will add an upcharge for a renovated room. We were advised at check-in that it would cost an additional $80/night for a renovated room. The rooms that have not been renovated show it—they’re dated, drab, and have carpet that looks like it hasn’t been updated in decades. Additionally, and most importantly, a mouse ran across the floor while my family was eating in one of the restaurants during dinner. We even took a video while waiting for a manager. Once we spoke with the manager, she asked for our room number and if we wanted gelato (?), but nothing else came from it. Even when we checked out, the desk agent said there were no notes on our room mentioning anything. We have yet to receive a meaningful apology from the hotel despite paying nearly $1200 to stay there and spending more than $100 in the restaurants. While we LOVED Toronto and this hotel’s proximity to what the city has to offer, we will not be staying at this hotel again.

My husband and I stayed here this past week for 2 nights. Sauna was out, room was too hot and thermostat did not work. Had to keep waking up to open/close the balcony door to cool it down. Shower had someone's razor and hair in it from the previous guest. No complimentary toiletries or bottles of water in the room. Fridge was (I'm sure) as old as I am as well as the in-room wet bar. Don't buy the breakfast in the cafeteria, it's overpriced at $35 a person and the same quality food as complimentary breakfasts from other hotels. (my advice don't eat the breakfast sausages lol). This used to be our go-to hotel for downtown Toronto but not anymore.

Well where shall I start. Arrived at the hotel at 2215 after flying in from the UK. Went to check in and the receptionist was very friendly but seemed shocked we had booked an executive room and said he needed to pop out the back to check something. He came back a few minutes later and said that there were no clean executive rooms available. I found this hard to believe, considering check out is 11am, so over 11 hours before our arrival. He advised that he would give us a standard room rather than keep us waiting and would give us complimentary breakfast and we could check back in the morning. Not the start to our stay we wanted. We then went to the room. The room was extremely dated and had a musty/dusty smell to it. The sink unit in the bathroom had a massive crack running the full length and wasn’t secured to the wall properly so any weight put on it, it felt like it would fall off completely. And the vent by the bath was thick of grime and dust. The next morning I went down to reception and asked to be moved to the executive room that we had booked and paid for. This request was denied as “there are no executive rooms available”. Which again shouldn’t have been the case because I had booked an executive rooms. The receptionist (different one from the previous evening) then stated that the room we’ve got is a standard room that is the same as an executive room, the only difference being that the executive room has a coffee machine rather than a kettle. I suspect as it was thanksgiving weekend the hotel sold my booked room off for a higher price, I mean what other explanation could there be for my booked room not being available, bearing in mind I booked this trip 11 months prior? Not happy with this I contacted my tour operator who was very apologetic and refunded me the additional paid for the executive upgrade. Nothing was offered from the hotel other than complimentary breakfast vouchers which we wouldn’t use. All in all I will not be recommending this hotel and will not stay here again.
