Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was sincerely impressed by The Westlake. Amazing facility and superior guest services. Andy checked in several times and was readily available. I've stayed on 2 different occasions in the last 2 weeks and will definitely return again! It's just outside of Toronto where the city is easily accessible by car or subway. Love this place. :)

I read the reviews below and it is likely one person who had a bad experience, then got friends to also write a review. I have stayed at this hotel many times and every single time andy has been professional and polite at all times. He accommodated me when I needed an early check in without hesitation. I always recommend this place to friends and family, if you’re looking for privacy, cleanliness, professionalism, unique style & affordable then this is your place! I look forward to returning at the end of the month for a long over due vacation

Far exceeded my expectations. Owner was prompt and courteous with answering my questions. I had no trouble entering the building or the suite with the codes he provided. The Andy Suite is fantastic. Very clean, spacious, sleek and modern. It certainly felt more like a home than a hotel. Location is great! 15 min ride from the airport. 15 minute ride to Eaton Center. Plenty of conveniences right outside the door. The Lake is a 5 minute walk and was beautiful even in the dead of winter. Would definitely stay again! And we plan on it.

The decor was pretty but totally not functional-
1) not a single closet and the hanging and
The hanging there was was way over my head ( I’m 5’2”)
2) There was not a single chair in the place
( not one )
3) They refused to do any cleaning AT ALL
The entire 5 days we were there
4) They did not even give us new toilet paper ! We had to buy our own !
5) They would come in to take out the garbage but not replace towels or toilet paper ???
Pick a lane!!! If it was a hotel we would get cleaning and toilet paper every day .
If it was an air b & b there would be a supply of toilet paper and we would not have to buy our own!!
So- pick a lane ! Decide !
Be a hotel or an air b & b

Also:
The lock on the door fell off !
thank goodness my boyfriend is handy or we would have been locked out with nobody to call. It took an hour to reach them and
They gave us a key.

An interesting neighborhood.
Nice to be near the lake .
Covid is not an excuse for bad service.
On the contrary you should be bending over backwards to keep the customers you have.

The bathroom was beautifully designed but who cares if you don’t have t p ?!

We stayed here back in September in the Bye Felicia Suite. There were automated emails for booking and checking in - but no one ever responds to texts, emails, or voicemails. Cool decor - but there were hairs on wet plates / dishes when we arrived. The floors also made our socks super dirty. Andy is always unresponsive... my friend booked the place nearly a month in advance and never once has the hotel responded to questions via any sort of communication. There was also garbage in the garbage bag upon arrival....

One of the bedrooms even had stains on the sheets that looked like self tanner stains?

If you don't mind cleanliness and hygiene/ lack of customer service / terrible communication then we would recommend this spot for a cool location to stay at.

Look at their Airbnb reviews - Google Westlake Hotel Airbnb or Bad and Boujee Airbnb to check further reviews ..... 😬

Take time to read all the 1 star reviews they all match and is accurate, make you think that all the others are fake? …horrible service, we check-in around 4:00 and we only had 1 towel after multiple request to have more since we were 4 (same as our reservation) I had actually had to be rude to get some as it was 9:00… take a look at the pictures it self explanatory… it was the only time we sleep with our cloths on with socks because it was disgusting. We will NEVER return. This is NOT a boutique hotel.. so many other choices around… and this hotel is on top of a weed shop and a night club… so yes the rooms smells like weed and not quiet at night.

If you're seeing this review. Please, don't waste your money in this pit.

Where to even start...
Booked a room for three people on March 26th 2023 for a suite with two queen beds for Sept 19-20 through Hotels.com. Got in today.. September 19th 2023. Received a one bed room. Not a suite, a very small room. I called the contact number provided and the woman who answered was very rude. Seemed extremely annoyed I was calling, told me management would be in touch I asked when and she said "when they get in touch"

20 minutes later the manager calls and basically says "that sucks" but I booked through a 3rd party and it's not there issue but then told me if I couldn't make the room work I was welcome to leave because I was getting money back anyway. Now I'm in a city I'm not familiar with, one bed, three grown adults

The room was filthy. Stains on the blankets and the rug hadn't been cleaned or even vacuumed in ages.
There was hair all over the bathroom and it smelled very strongly of smoke. There were cigarette burns all across the curtains. The fridge smelled and was sticky.

Got a hold of Hotels.com. They tried to reach out to the manager of the hotel and they were hung up on multiple times.

Needless to say we left.

Please be careful before considering this hellhole.

I would NOT recommend staying here, until they have their rooms exterminated. We did a pre-Valentines stay at this hotel this past weekend. We had stayed at the Westlake previously, and we were very impressed.
This time, however, was a different story. The hotel has started to break down. There were numerous minor issues, the shower leaks into the hallway, the was no coffee maker in the room, the towel rack had broken off in the bathroom...
We didn't mind any of these things, as we understand that this happens over time.
We slept, and had no complaints. There was no noise, the bed was comfortable, the pillows are fine.
Unfortunately, when my girlfriend woke up, she had numerous locations of small bites on her. The bites are on her forearm, legs, chest, butt, side... essentially all over her.
I have twice messaged the manager, Andy, and received no response.

Our first impression was good. The room looked nice, with a beautiful bathroom and a few thoughtful touches. But the bed was domed in the middle, spilling both of us off to the sides. And then, shortly after we went to bed, the NOISE began. Our room was directly over an adult entertainment establishment, and very loud music of a certain genre was blasted at us for a few hours.

Our stay was in January of 2019 (not 2021, but that was the best choice offered). If the noisy business neighbour went under during the pandemic, this might be a nice place to stay.

If there were less than one stars to give, this hotel would receive this from me! We booked a room to stay in the city for a small New Year's eve gathering about a month ago, before the omicron variant. Unfortunately my husband was not feeling well and we decided not to travel. I tried and tried to get a hold of Andy, the hotel manager numerous times in the week leading up to the date, without any response. He took our money and never even called back to discuss the cancellation. STAY AWAY from this awful place!
