Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Brookstreet Hotel boasts a pleasant atmosphere with live jazz music adding to the ambiance, although noise levels and the jazz lounge receive mixed reviews. While the rooms are clean and updated, some guests suggest there's room for improvement in decor and amenities. Its location is well-regarded for events, despite occasional directional confusion. Cleanliness stands out with efficient maintenance and air purification systems.
Opinions on value vary, with praise for shuttle services but criticism for pricey food and unforeseen charges. Service is generally applauded for being friendly, with a few hiccups noted in room service and check-in. Amenities, including dining and entertainment, are appreciated, even though some upkeep issues have been mentioned.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed in a King room, which was spacious with huge windows that also had great drapes to black out the room at night. The bathroom was also large with plenty of counter space, and an excellently designed added shelf at the foot of the bathtub, where you could place your shampoo, etc., within easy reach. Note, to use the mini fridge in the room, you need to get a key, which must be returned at the end of your stay. There is no charge to use the fridge (just the contents they put in there). If you want ice, they will bring it to your room. There was no microwave in the room, but the restaurants were very good. The Perspectives restaurant had a wide selection at Saturday brunch, with the most French tasting pain au chocolate that I have had in a long time. It also included typical hot breakfast items (eggs, sausages, bacon, waffles), cereal, yogurt and toppings such as granola and berry compote, juices, as well as bagels and cream cheese, salmon and capers and onions and lemon wedges. Sunday brunch is an even wider selection, but at a higher price. Brunch in the Jazz Lounge was okay, but not quite as good as Perspectives was - only one juice option, smaller pastries and bagels, no hard boiled eggs. Dinner was also good at Perspectives. It is a bit pricy, but the service is good.
The hotel staff in general were all friendly and helpful, which always improves any trip. It was much appreciated. Alex at the front desk was very kind to us.
The hotel layout is good, the common areas are very nice and comfortable, the ambient temperature was perfect. The food servers for our event party were great at refilling empty food trays and clearing used plates quickly. Brook street should really pride themselves on the great team they have assembled.
The cleaning staff were not obtrusive, and we got to sleep in undisturbed. The hotel is quiet. I only heard the vacuum cleaner in the hall in the afternoon.
A friend of ours used the indoor pool and said it was lovely, with a jacuzzi and sauna in the change room.
If you park at the hotel, keep a room key after you check out, as you will need it to get your car, and there is a key drop box in the garage.

For my daughter's 10th birthday, I brought her and two friends to Brookstreet. I purchased the Winter Family package which included a $25 credit to three of their onsite restaurants/lounges.
Backpack with fun items for each child
An in room movie
Secured underground parking
Access to the indoor/outdoor pools
This package was absolutely a great value. The kids had a blast and were never bored. I would like to say a special thank you to Yves, he was our very first impression and we was so kind and funny. He set the tone for our experience.
A very special thank you to Megan, from guest services. She went above and beyond to make my daughter's birthday extra special. Megan, and her thoughtfulness, was the highlight of her stay.
Thank you Brookstreet, we will definitely return.

I had very high expectations for this hotel since It was recommended and I had heard good things in the past about it. From the outside and the lobby, it looked clean and a little high maintenance. I arrived late at night so I didn’t notice the negatives until the next day. The rooms were clean enough I suppose but not the best. They are kind of run down and after the first day I noticed that our beds/sheets didn’t smell good. I went to the front desk to state this issue and the lady said she would give me new sheets for my bed. To me this was unacceptable, I don’t want to change my own sheets on vacation in a room I’m paying for which should include these services. I politely asked if she could just find me a new room instead which she did thankfully. The second room was better but still not completely up to the standards this hotel should have. After moving rooms at 12:30am we received a knock on our door to say we had a noise complaint, at that point I had to explain myself to a staff member that we had just moved to this room with all our luggage. We had tried our best to do so as quietly as possible but still it was a quiet night past midnight. I’m not sure why the front desk lady who had just moved us to this room didn’t inform anyone that this was probably the noise.
We also had some snacks delivered to our room which weren’t covered or even refrigerated. They were just left out on the desk for hours. The crackers were stale and some were damp and kind of soggy. Although they were on the house I was expecting them to be at least covered and not be sitting out in the open for hours while we were gone. There was no coffee machine in the room which I guess is normal for this time but this was my last stop on a 16 day vacation and this seemed to be the only hotel with no in room coffee machine or in room coffee service. If you want a morning coffee then you have to get dressed and go downstairs to the cafe, wait in line for a while then go back upstairs - not very convenient or relaxing. I stayed 5 nights here and although we did get a credit for one night and also $50 credit, it was still a very disappointing experience. The only thing that saved the trip a little bit was the Front Desk Manager (Shawnee). She was absolutely lovely and very understanding. I also saw her numerous times throughout my stay walking around the hotel and being attentive to guests which is always great to see.

Thanks Brookstreet for great service.
The staff went above and beyond to make my stay a good one after I had a negative experience at another Ottawa hotel.
I had a partial view of the golf course from the king-sized room and was so happy that I was able to bring my cat along to a pet-friendly room.
I was nervous to be staying at a hotel during the pandemic – but I felt safe once I was there: the room / lobby / elevators were clean, there was an air purifier at the elevator waiting area on my floor, social distancing and mask wearing were in place, and the toiletries that came with the room included hand sanitizer. Housekeeping came by request only (which I preferred because of COVID) – and when I did need anything (i.e. microwave) – they brought it up promptly and politely.
I left feeling so much more relaxed than when I arrived. Can wait to go back again soon.

Over the past 7 years I have had the pleasure to stay at the Brookstreet for over 220 nights and have come to know it almost as a home away from home. In reflection of my visits and review of the hotel they have been excellent. I use the Au natural spa, fitness center, and sauna for my health and wellness needs. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained year round with fun things to explore, walking paths to go walking or running on and a complete outside pool area. You can even use available bicycles to go for a ride. The restaurants serve fantastic food, I am able to park my vehicle securely and easily underground, and there are shuttle services. Once the day is over The marshes golf courses is next door if you want to play a round or simply relax at the Options Jazz lounge listening to live music.
What truly makes the Brookstreet great however is the people who work inside. They seem to genuinely enjoy their job’s and that is reflected in the service they have provided me during my stays. They promptly bring extra water or ice to my room, they help with my luggage and room arrangements. The kitchen even accommodates storing a cooler bag for me in their freezer. Over the years I have come to know some of the staff and am on first name basis with some at the front desk, the fitness center and the doormen. They are great people.
I can honestly say it is more of a resort feeling then a hotel and the atmosphere with all the events and weddings constantly going on feels special!
I cannot recommend the Brookstreet enough, and would give them five out of five stars all day long. So go ahead and see for yourself! Visit the Brookstreet while you work, play or getaway!
Thank you Brookstreet
Jeff S

Overall very disappointed in this hotel especially in light of the cost and it's reputation. Booked several suites for an offsite wedding 6 weeks in advance. At the time of booking we requested rooms to be on the same floor to facilitate photographs of bridal party. We were assured this would be the case. When we checked in, rooms were on multiple floors with no reason why we weren't accommodated as requested. Also booked a room for 2 nights with new guests arriving on the second night and stated that housekeeping was required after the first night to change sheets and towels. This request was made no less than 3 times and this still wasn't done. The new guests returned late from the wedding to dirty linens. Overall the lighting in the rooms was terrible, especially the bathrooms. The most aggravating part of the stay was the key card system that never worked to get into or out of the parking garage. The only way to get in or out was to push the intercom button and wait 5 minutes for someone to respond. This was brought up to reception with little regard for the frustration caused. Certainly got the impression they have no intention of fixing this.

As said, in survey, the bathroom was not ideal for the pricing, a shower that didn't work was not ideal. Also no drainage in the bathroom in case of huge spills was problematic.

Beware, you will get charged for parking, in addition for room! I wasn't told about all the extra fees until I was checking out, a week later! Next, the WiFi is not really free. Yes, there is a "complimentary" WiFi with dialup speeds, but if you want something approaching a reasonable connection, i.e "up to" 20 MB/s, you'll have to pay up. But wait, the nickeling and diming does not stop there. Should you use the room phone to place local calls, that too will cost you. Finally, the food served by the on-site restaurant is utterly mediocre and ridiculously overpriced. Aside from these practices, there is absolutely nothing to distinguish this hotel from any run of the mill 3-star outfit.

We had a great time at Brookstreet hotel! We booked the “magic of light” package which included passes to the light show nearby and $30 dollars daily voucher toward beverages and food. We enjoyed the pools and jacuzzi with the children, fantastic food at the Jazz Lounge (although the menu was limited because of how busy the hotel was), great view, confortable accommodations and helpful staff. We will be back for sure!

Brookstreet allows a maximum of 2 pets per room in the hotel. Upon check-in, you will be required to sign a Pet Policy Waiver, and we require a $250 refundable deposit for each pet in the room. A $25 per pet per night non-refundable fee is charged directly to your room. Please note that pets cannot be left unattended at any time and you may be asked to check-out early if your dog is barking excessively.
Hello and thank you for your enquiry. The hours of operation differ from day to day, however, to obtain the most accurate timings, I would recommend contacting our Flex Studios, although, most days they close at 10PM. Thank you!
There is a nice path from the hotel to the golf course clubhouse. Beyond that I am not sure but there are plenty of quieter areas as it is in an industrial park.
