While on a road trip from Florida to Ontario, we planned to revisit Niagara-on-the-Lake. In particular, we wanted to stay at the Prince of Wales Hotel where we honeymooned 30 years ago. Because we were unsure of our time of arrival, we waited until the last minute to try and secure a reservation at the hotel. A quick check hotel reservation websites revealed that "there was no room at the inn." Undeterred, we called the hotel directly, explained our situation. We can't tell you how deighted we were to learn there was one room left!
We arrived at The Prince of Wales Hotel the next day. From the outside, the hotel was even more beautiful than we remembered. Its hotel gardens and window boxes were resplendent with beautiful flowers.
Our check-in was a breeze. The gentleman at the desk even noticed my husband uses a cane and wondered aloud whether he could find us another room that took into account his disabilty. Alas, he discovered what we already knew, no other rooms were available. Nonetheless, we sincerely appreciated his observation and sensitivity - an indication of the level of service guests can expect from The Prince of Wales Hotel.
When we opened the door to our room, we were overwhelmed. A silver ice bucket with a bottle of champagne and two glasses greeted us. And, if that wasnt enough, we discovered a room decorated in a way that would impress any prince or princess. My husband loved the comfort of the sofa. I loved the four poster bed and the fireplace although, on a warm June night, we had no need of it.
We decided to enjoy dinner in the Churchill Lounge. The atmosphere is energetic and the food is outstanding. The portions are large, no make that huge. My husband was delighted with his choices. I was too except, instead of an a-la-carte sized ceasar salad, I should have ordered a side casar salad only so I could have had the satisfaction of finishing it. The list of beers, wines and cocktails was extensive and reasonably priced. With respect to wines, the list featured many local wines which were unknown to me. Happily, our server offered several suggestions. Together we narrowed my choices to two. To help me decide, she brought samples of both for me to try - it was a blind taste test. As it turned out, I selected the one she thought I would most enjoy. I wasn't disappoined and ordered a second glass.
Our table in the Churchill Lounge overlooked the street where we noticed horse and carriage rides on offer just ourside the door. No one was more surprsied than me when my husband suggested we take a ride around town after we finished dinner. It was wonderful.
After our carriage ride, we went back to our room, we discovered that additonal pods of decaffineited coffee for the Nespresso machine had already been delivered to our room. And, when we turned toward the bed, found a pink rose perched against the pillow. Perfect!
As to the bed itself, it's pure comfort. The firmness of bed was just right and the pillows were large and must have been filled with down. They were luxurious. We both slept like babies.
The bathroom was large and contained all the amenities you would exect from a first class hotel.
The next day, we ate breakfast in The Noble Room. It was beautifully appointed and the menu offered items to meet any guest's needs. My husband chose the waffle which he said it was the best he had tasted. I chose a half-order of eggs benedict - delicious!
Our overnight stay at the Prince of Wales Hotel was a special treat. We began our marriage there and our recent stay capped off thirty great years. We promise not to let another thrity years to go by before we return. And, we promise to make a reservation well in advance.

Another amazing short getaway at The Prince of Wales Hotel in Niagara on The Lake . This is my second review of the Hotel and I am just as impressed this second time as I was the first . We arrived quite late at 11pm , however we were still greeted promptly and our room was ready and waiting for us . We were pleasantly surprised by the generous gift from the Hotel with a welcome back Bottle of sparkling beverage on ice in our room . After a very comfortable sleep on a very plush king size bed we enjoyed a very hearty cooked to order breakfast . We drank our morning coffee and tea by the restaurant window overlooking the park and Picton st. We spent the day enjoying the surrounding areas and later in the day had a few drinks in The Churchill lounge . Unfortunately due to covid, the lounge menu was not being offered, so I unfortunately could not have my favourite meal of fish and chips. The Hotel was very diligent with regards to covid protocol and we felt very comfortable while inside the common areas .

A quick shoutout to Hazel at the front desk who always treats us like family . It was great to see you again and take our yearly photo for our memory book. See you soon

This hotel may be in the very best location for exploring the main strip. At this time recommend bringing a mask in case for some of the stores, which might also run at reduced hours. Upgraded room was great and the bottle of wine and note were excellent touches. Room was fantastic. Breakfast room service was brought in a big paper bag, which I understand given the circumstances however seemed a bit too much like simple take out; the food itself was great. Also we were late for our dinner reservation and the hostess seemed over emphatic to let us know out seating time would be shortened despite not too many people and the service taking us to past closing time. Patio dinner was very good however, had to deal with the usual al fresco dining challenges, wine pairings were not offered by default and a sommelier was not around. Thought having the horse and carriage always parked out front was classy. Everything very chill and quiet right now, you feel transported to a completely other place in another time, very charming spot.

We stayed three nights at the hotel this week in one of their suites and were greatly disappointed. Our room, 160 on the south wing was a suite and it looked directly on to the parking lot (cars feet away from window). We were told there were no other rooms available. The room and furniture looked tired and worn. The only ventilation was via air conditioning in the windows that ran at high rates with noise that made sleeping difficult. Attention to detail in the room such as cleaning the kettle, shower not working at 100% percent just left the feeling not value for money. Staff were friendly and engaging and the dinner/experience at the Noble Restaurant was nice. Overall, the hotel has a nice appearance from the exterior but he premium room that we were provided was very much a disappointment. Niagara on the Lake is a lovely town.

Came here to celebrate our first year wedding anniversary considering we can't fly anywhere this year. The hotel is absolutely beautiful with many paintings and the Victorian decor, it feels like you've stepped back in time. From the minute we walked in we felt so welcomed! All staff are friendly and wearing masks. Hand sanitizers were readily available. Food was delicious! Frank was an excellent server! They even cover the utensils on the table with a cloth to ensure it stays clean and they remove it once you are seated. In our room they gave us complementary wine and a special card. They gave us the superior suite which was spacious and beautiful with a fireplace and jacuzzi. I loved the music they played throughout the hotel, classical and jazz music. I will return again and recommend to others looking for a relaxing getaway!

Our stay was a delight overall at this historic property. We wanted to enjoy staying at a Victorian hotel, so the Prince of Wales was the perfect choice. While it is an older hotel, it featured high end features and amenities.

We stayed in two rooms, one for the first two days and one more to extend our stay as one of us was unwell (busted 🦵 leg) Our first room was good but had a too tall a bed so it was hard to climb in and out of it. So I fell twice while climbing and scraped my leg really bad on the wood frame. Our first room was also on the basement level, so the window looked straight to sidewalk-not the coziest for privacy. We made do with curtains. Can't complain but...Second room we were given was amazing 😍 it had a fireplace, shorter bed (I guess some ppl are shorter than others so it worked better for me) Black bruise knee to ankle on one leg 😔sad. Absolutely loved second room* it was cozy, quaint, very Victorian if someone is looking to experience history 👌Not to take away from the hotel in anyway. Not trying to complain at all. Overall the decor was unique to the era with elaborate walls, art, parquet, paintings, lighting, and everything you want from a Victorian historical place. Definitely a jewel to see 💎

Both restaurants on site were excellent 👌 tasty food, good service, prices are little bit on high end, but it Is expected. So we were ok with that. The hotel sent us menues ahead of time so we chose to lunch and dine on site. Those who budget less for dine out are welcome to try other local restaurants. We found on site restaurants very atmosphere appropriate 🏆the food was cooked to perfection. Meat, fish, we even bought desert tho we usually don't buy desert. Good wine, beer 🍺 and cocktail selection.

Amenities on site: lobby smelled really good when we first entered. It had fresh roses 🌹 throughout creating a pleasant atmosphere of cleanliness and freshness. Sorry hotel ppl 🙏but pool was badly ventilated creating mold on walls and hot tub was not cleaned recently. It has a dirt ring above waterline. While lovely decorated, the pool room is dirty. Please talk to your cleaning provider. I work in cleaning business, all other areas and amenities were clean ✨ 🧹 Impressed with wall moldings, vents and other odd places thoroughly cleaned so good job 👍 Again not trying to complain. Hopefully it is taken as positive constructive feedback.

Stayed here with my wife for two nights to celebrate my birthday but we were both disappointed with this hotel. It certainly scores high marks for its heritage appearance but it’s long overdue for a basic makeover. The carpeting is worn out in places, the wallpaper is peeling in most rooms, the lighting needs cleaning/replacing, and the walls are crying out for a fresh coat of paint. It wouldn’t take a lot of TLC to spruce things up again but in it’s current condition, it simply isn’t living up to its royal reputation and/or premium rates. As you might expect, the exterior still looks quite charming and the location is fabulous but that’s about all it has going for it. We went to the spa one day and it was ok but nothing special. We also ordered room service for breakfast one morning and the food was average but missing some basic condiments (cream and sugar) and some utensils (spoons) which seems pretty obvious when you’re getting a carafe of coffee but maybe we were expecting too much. After we were done eating, we placed our used dishes/tray in the corridor right outride our room, which is precisely where it remained for the next 2 days - not what we expected in a 5-star hotel. I could go on but I think that you get the general idea. There’s lots of other hotels in the vicinity so I wouldn’t recommend this one unfortunately.

This was our third visit to the Prince of Wales Hotel as their impeccable high quality service never ceases to impress us. Our recent stay felt like our first and the staff truly demonstrate care and make every effort to ensure we are well served and comfortable. The hotel is a perfect blend of old world charm with modern amenities and its location is convenient to visit local shops on foot and there are numerous wineries and other attractions a short drive away, we plan to return again and again.

You have survived COVID waves, 1, 2, and 3- You have earned the right to be pampered and the Prince of Wales hotel takes pampering to the next level.

Coronavirus protocols are strictly adhered to if not exceeded. No worries from that front. Your only concern is what fabulous entree you will enjoy in the fabulous Noble Restaurant.

Checking-in is fast, and friendly, and checking out is even quicker.

The room was spotless, with anti-covid practices evident, including sterile wipes for the TV remote.
The bed was big and comfy with plenty of pillows and contained all the amenities you would expect in a 5 star property.
If you are planning a trip to NOTL, this is the place to stay!

Beautiful hotel with friendly, warm and helpful staff. The robes were extra soft and cozy. My husband and I had a wonderful 2 night stay. Shuttle to Tiara was helpful and convenient and the night was lovely so the walk back to hotel was perfect. Delicious dinners at Noble and Tiara and breakfast at Noble was great- highly recommend getting breakfast deal. Omelette and home-fries were very yummy.
The spa was wonderful and loved my massage. We will definitely be returning to NOTL and Vintage hotels soon. Highly recommend for a winter getaway.
