The Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel by Wyndham by the Falls receives mixed reviews on its value, with some guests finding it reasonably priced and others frustrated by unexpected fees. Cleanliness is generally commendable, although infrequent housekeeping has been a point of contention. Service quality varies, with reports of both friendly and inattentive staff. The rooms are clean but may appear outdated, with some lacking proper ventilation. The hotel's atmosphere and amenities are seen as adequate but not without need for modernization. Its prime location is frequently praised, offering convenient access to nearby attractions while being quieter than more central areas.

The Hojo by the Falls is our go-to hotel for the last 15+ years. We just stayed for a week and had an amazing experience (with our 2 year old at that)! The staff is so friendly, and make check-in and check-out a breeze. The newly renovated rooms are lovely, clean, and stocked. Housekeeping staff was amazing with giving us extra toiletries, towels, etc. Our favourite amenity is the indoor/outdoor pool and we absolutely love the location! We walked 99% of the time to all attractions on Victoria and Clifton Hill, and like that the Denny's is right next door for some tasty breakfast. We highly recommend this hotel and cannot wait to book our next trip!

Nice and clean hotel . Check in was smooth , hand sanitizer , plexiglas installed and constant signage saying 6 feet apart were in place for covid. Room was great , we had the family suite which had three queen beds . Two queen beds and a tv in one part and then a separate door led to another queen bed and tv. Excellent choice for us As we travelled with 2, 10 year-olds.
Fast forward to the pool. We had to take an elevator down which also had a sign saying one family at a time due to Covid. We get to the pool which is not very big by any means and it is packed. I mean wall to wall people on the deck of the pool as well as in the pool. Our kids Could literally jump in the water and stay in one spot no room to swim, go underwater, or even play. Hubby and I counted no less than 70 people crammed in there. Mind you this is even with all the social distancing signs everywhere.
After three or four minutes we pulled the kids out and said we’d come back later and check out the pool and see if it was empty. I went to the front desk and asked the lady what the pool capacity legally was . She did not know what I meant. I said a fire inspector or city inspector would tell you the capacity of the pool. She was clueless . She went to get the manager who basically told me that they do not monitor the amount of people in the pool and there is no capacity . I stated that with covid procedures in place a better system should of been thought of . Why have plexiglass at front desk, why limit the amount of people in the elevator or have signage about social distancing when you allow people to cram themselves into the pool with no measures in place She agreed but said there was nothing she could do.
With that in mind I would probably not return. This was part of a long family trip which involved stays at other hotels, all of which had procedures in place for the pool, time limits, closures every two hours for disinfecting, limit of people etc....
I realize my choice to be surrounded by 70 people and we chose to leave the pool area.

Karey and Kevin. OMG kudos to them! Front desk and manager, were above and beyond expectation. I forgot my phone charger and Kevin lent me his own, which was unexpected and very kind. I ended up unintentionally causing Karey a headache regarding billing but she was very patient and gracious and quickly resolved the issue. They were both wonderful. Such personalized service from the housekeeping staff to management, I highly recommend staying here!

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted pleasantly and also pleasantly told that there was a $15-per-night charge for parking. We accept that this was in the small print of the website but it wasn't enough for us to be aware before we arrived.

The charge would have been acceptable except that it was a challenge to find parking at any time of the day and we ended up reluctant to use our own car.

The room was comfortable and clean, with a microwave, fridge, hair dryer, and working A/C.

At check-in, we were advised that housekeeping would not be visiting every day, but could, if we wanted them to, check in on the third day. Any more than that would cost $25 per day.

Breakfast was also not included.

There is no doubt that the COVID issue has taught the hospitality industry that it is acceptable to offer the customers less for more money.

The internet connection upon which we as a family heavily rely was poor and intermittent. The only thing that we could count on was that several times a day it would go out for sometimes more than an hour. We questioned the front desk and were repeatedly told that they were "working on it".

As mention earlier, the room was comfortable, the staff were also pleasant and the hotel location was central and convenient, but the sketchy internet alone would be reason enough to look elsewhere as it left us frustrated on a regular basis.

I have stayed at this hotel every year (sometimes twice yearly) for many years, but never again!
This was by far, the worst stay I have ever had in a hotel. I had to actually walk through a cloud of smoke to get to my room, and when I got there, the smell was so strong and sickening it made me nauseous. I don't judge people for smoking weed, but the smell was in my room as well and it was very strong. I called front desk and told the woman who had checked us in, and her exact words were "There's nothing we can do about it". I was shocked and asked why. She said "We have to catch them smoking to be able to do anything about it". My sister (who was staying in a room at the other end of the hall, and could also smell it) and the housekeeper were also both shocked by her response as well.
I asked if I could move to another room in that case, because the smell was overwhelming and she very snidely said "We don't have any other rooms available right now!" Again, I was shocked but not surprised, as she was the same person who was rude to me on my last visit there for no reason.
I booked a room in a NON SMOKING HOTEL. Had I known that I'd have to literally walk through smoke to get to my room for two days, I would not have booked there. I wanted to leave as soon as she said that to me, but my sister told me to just stay in her room, because she had twin beds. It was her 65th birthday, and she liked it there because it was close to everything. I didn't want to spoil our trip or her birthday as we hadn't seen one another in almost a year.

After we started to put our things away,, we noticed that both of our rooms were quite dirty. There was so much dust on everything, and the bathroom floors looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in a while. There were two EMPTY boxes of tissue in my room and half a roll of toilet paper (for a three night stay)
We cleaned everything ourselves and I actually had to go out and buy a can of Lysol to spray the hallway and my room.
When I went to the front desk to ask for tissues, she rolled her eyes at me as if I was bothering her.
I have never been treated so disrespectful anywhere in my entre life, and will not stay at this hotel again.
It's been going downhill for a long time and the customer service along with it.
Last year I was going to surprise my sister on her birthday, and booked a room here because my niece was bringing her to Niagara for her birthday. When they were checking in, they told my sister that I had also booked a room here and ruined the surprise.
My niece called me when I was on my way and told me. I asked them why they told my sister this when I was checking in, as I thought they were not supposed to give information like this to people (they didn't know we were even related) and this exact same woman was extremely rude towards me and said "You didn't tell us we couldn't tell anybody you were staying here". I just said "I didn't know that I had to", and I believe this is why she was rude to me on this visit, as I am always polite and treat everyone with respect.
There are much nicer and cleaner hotels in the area for the same price point. I would rather pay more to stay somewhere that is clean, the staff are not rude and they actually stick to the[policies they advertise.
This is only a non smoking hotel if they "catch you smoking". They should say this on their web site.
My entire family and my friends wouldn't stay here again if it were free.

A glorified motel at hotel cost because of where it is located. Staff did nothing to enhance your experience the motel was duty and the room smelt of smoke. There were people smoking everywhere you went in front of the hotel and they broke into someone’s car while we were there . They charge for parking and the person was told there was no security camera where he was parked. I had to call front desk at 3:00am to have the guests next door observe the quiet rule which should have started at 11:00pm The most horrible experience ever. Do not rent the room with the jacuzzi it is literally a bedroom with the most hideous red bathtub in it. You get off the bed turn the lights on or you may fall in the jacuzzi. It is literally beside the bed. They took a bed out of the already too small room and replaced it with a tub. Cheap motel feel at hotel cost.

My husband and I stayed one night at this Hojo and it was so clean and COVID practices were spot on. Room was spotless, we were away from others and every guest we met was wearing a mask. We used the pool and the deck had just been washed. There were plenty of clean towels and shower was great. The location is great... we walked to the Falls and back one morning. The Christmas light display at night was spectacular! We are looking forward to coming back to this hotel soon! Thank you Hojo!!

The location is great walking distance from Clifton hill which is where all the attractions are. There is always alot of families with children which is nice. The hotel is nice and clean has sanitizer for you to use on the main floor, my only reason why I give 4 stars is because they will only clean the rooms change sheets and remove garbage every 3rd day from your stay and if you have children well that's not enough. The internet is not unlimited they only give you 5mp per day which I thought would have been unlimited like other places have. I have stayed at this hotel plenty of times before covid years ago because it's not far from everything and that's why I went there again this time. When I arrived this time they told me the changed to green now and this is why they only clean every 3rd day it was disappointing to hear, most of the staff are great especially Kevin always willing to help. Overall it's a nice place

Very nice hotel rooms. Stayed over the valentines day weekend, so for this reason the rooms were obviously more expensive, especially since it was the family day long weekend. We stayed in the king room with the jet tub and fireplace.

The room was beautiful. Everything was perfect (especially the above bed mirror), except the bed was so uncomfortable to sleep in! Me and the bf woke up each night feeling like we aged 30 years. Not sure if this is how anyone else felt, maybe we just aren't used to sleeping in the types of beds they have.

Whats great about this hotel is that its walking distance to main attractions in Niagara Falls. Clifton Hill right beside and plenty of restaurants to choose from. Unfortunately, TGIF was closed for some reason throughout our stay which we were looking forward to. Also walking distance to go see the falls which was very nice. I recommend going to the Skylon Tower for lunch or dinner. VERY FKN EXPENSIVE, but the food and service is definitely worth the money. We also went to the fallsview casino, lost some money, won some, then lost again....some lady won 3k in front of us though so cheers to her

Lastly, we were unable to go to the pool in the hotel, but other customers were telling us it was really nice, they also have a hot tub and sauna I believe. Apparently go early in the morning or late before they close if you want to avoid a bunch of children

Thank you for choosing Howard Johnson by Wyndham. Family Day weekend is a very busy time for us and we are happy to hear that you visit with us was a positive experience. Thank you for the compliments of the facilities as the rooms have all been recently updated including new beds. I am sorry that you had an issue with the beds as we do receive numerous positive comments about the pillow-top mattresses in the suites and how comfortable they are, even some guests asking where to get the beds. We hope that the rest of your visit was a positive experience and we would be seeing you on your next visit to Niagara. Thank you for making Howard Johnson by Wyndham your choice for accommodations during your visit to Niagara Falls.
