Located "behind" Pearson International Airport, Brampton has a number of affordable hotels.

But in the summer the Davis Campus of Sheridan College offers on-campus student rooms at even a cheaper rate. What you get for this low amount is a sort of suite with two separate bedrooms (each with a queen-size bed), a bathroom and a kitchen area. High ceilings. So it's a lot of space for your money.

This awkwardly named residence is a lot like a hotel. The bathroom is fine. You get fresh towels and soap. Hot high pressure shower. The kitchen has a table, sink, microwave and large fridge. Everything works fine. The bed is comfortable enough and the bedding is like what you would find in an inexpensive hotel.

The free wifi works well. If you bring a cable you can also connect your laptop to the phone. The TV (one for each bedroom) has a range of stations.

There is a small cheery breakfast room with a simple motel-like breakfast, complete with coffee machine. Nice variety of carby breakfast items like bagels, bread, croissants, muffins, jam, butter, OJ, cereal and oranges. No protein but there are several Canadian-style breakfast places nearby, where you can get a huge amazing breakfast if you want it.

Noise was not an issue. Nor was privacy.

From what I can see, there is only one thing missing from the room that a hotel would have: bedside tables with lamps.

This place has the worn look of a well-used student residence. You can imagine that the college does not spend a fortune every year to re-paint the walls and replace the rugs. The rugs are worn in places. Some walls in the bedroom need paint.

The room does not seem to get cleaned every day. Sometimes housekeeping misses a few things. And they should definitely focus more intensively on the toilet after a previous guest leaves. However, my general impression is that the place is clean.

I suppose the other issue is that the place is institutional in feel. The staff are friendly and efficient, but they are not hotel staff. It looks and feels like what it is: the residence of a suburban college campus. If this bothers you, consider staying at one of the more expensive hotels nearby.

One unusual and slightly annoying aspect is that they ask you to ring up a separate C$100 deposit from your credit card when you arrive.

It is also annoying that guests do not have access to the athletic facility right next door.

I see a bus coming onto the campus, but this is really a place where you would want to have a car. (Brampton is like that in general.) Parking is free at the residence.

The centre is located near the corner of Steeles Ave and McLaughlin. If you stay here you will be in the heart of North American suburban car-and-mall culture. Many chain restaurants. Enormous malls, not all of them upscale. Many people residing in this suburb seem to be from the Indian subcontinent, but it is a real mix of ethnicities.

It is much cheaper to stay in Brampton than in Toronto itself. Getting to downtown Toronto is a simple matter by public transit if you prefer that. You could also drive there in about 30 minutes but realise that downtown Toronto is a traffic nightmare that offers absolutely no free parking anywhere. Parking in downtown Toronto will cost you something like 5 euros an hour (but there are bargains if you know where to find them).

Some people may be bothered by the fact that for a few dollars more they could be staying in one of the proper motels or hotels in the area. Indeed, perhaps this place should be even a little cheaper than it already is. However, you do get a huge suite and free parking. Hard to beat the feeling of luxurious space.

I would definitely stay here again (and probably will next year). It's hard to rate an alternative accommodation like this. Because I'm quite happy with it, and love the cost-benefit ratio, I'd give it a 4/5. But NB it is not a four-star hotel at all even if the room is much bigger than what you would get at a four-star.

We stayed here for 7 nights during our Toronto vacation and loved it. Very courteous staff, well laid-out rooms. We really appreciated having the 2 separate bedrooms, although sometimes I missed having a "living room", which meant watching TV on the bed (hate that!). But in fairness, if I really wanted to watch TV, there was the main floor lounge with a big-screen (seldom used while we were there) and the theatre room on the 5th floor.

The boy loved the pool table, ping-pong, and foosball table. We loved the complimentary breakfast (cereal, toast, muffins, frozen waffles/pancakes). They also have a BBQ available as well as a range/oven on every floor. The only quibbles I had were that for rooms with a "kitchenette" (microwave, sink, fridge) and cooking facilities available, it would've been nice to have had dishes and utensils provided/available. But this is splitting hairs - it's a residence after all, not a hotel.

Comfy beds/pillows, nice BIG bathroom, lots of hot water in the shower. A/C worked very well most days (brutally hot and humid that week). The room was kept nicely clean - daily housekeeping was a plus that we didn't expect from a student residence.

Great value, especially for family groups - I was on my own, but still cheaper than other local hotels. Quiet location, within easy reach of downtown Toronto and the airport, and convenient for the wilds of the Niagara Escarpment. Microwave is useful (though lack of untensils irritating - I guess the local stores do good business as each visitor buys the basics) and daily housekeeping thorough. Friendly staff, very welcoming. Free breakfast is relaxed and much better than a lot of the 'continental breakfasts' offered by more well-known establishments. Free internet access in the lobby.

Definitely recommended.

I had the unfortunate circumstance to have to stay at this place for 3 months while my new house was being finished.
I will say one thing...the staff is very friendly.
That is where the good part ends...sub standard maid service- often parts left unclean, like the sink & floors...often broken elevators...a/c would only work sometimes...and very uncomfortable beds.
On top of that...they demanded a $400 'damage deposit'...promised me it would be refunded upon check-in...and then refused to refund it to me- even though they said there is no damage. But they think they miscalculated my rent! (even though I paid every 2 weeks up front...at whatever price they told me it would be)

This is not a "family oriented" hotel by any means. This is a student residence on a college campus. While each unit has a kitchen with a microwave and fridge, there are no utensils or cookware. The bedrooms do not have an alarm clock. There is a small tv in each bedroom.

The units are suitable for a short term stopover but be prepared for basic accommodation.

The cleaning staff do a reasonable job in keeping things clean, but my unit needed a thorough vacuuming as there were plastic bottle caps, candy wrappers and candies on the floor.

This place is located in the heart of Brampton, Great place for families or people looking for extended stay or for a short trip. Price is great and the units are spacious equipped with full size microwave and refrigerator. I would suggest dealing with Tracy in sales she is outstanding and will bend over backwards to get you the best deal possible. There above and beyond customer service at the front of the house is amazing. Nicole one of the front desk agents and Christiana both possess great customer service and exceptional problem solving skills Nicole on several occasions took the initiative to solve issues immediately and Christiana always know what to say to make u happy. Carlina is another agent that has been amazing with her great service attitude. Jodi in housekeeping for always smiling no matter what. All in all this place makes you feel like family. Thank you Tracy, Nicole, Christiana, Carlina, Jodi for everything and making it feel at home. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place.

Stayed a number of months during a transition. Worked out perfect for my family. Rates for long-term residents (30-days at a time) are outstanding with all taxes included. Beats a rental contract. Understand, these are college dorms - but way better than I ever had in college. Units have two separate bedrooms each with full-sized, comfortable beds, (not your typical odd-shaped college single beds, bthrm with shower, small kitchen with full-sized fridge, sink, and micro wave. Common kitchen on each floor for more serious cooking. Brms apprx 10x15 with desk, shelves, basic cable tv and internet. Long-term cleaning service is weekly and the cleaning staff are thorough. Front desk staff are very friendly, helpful, and well-trained. Management is responsive and professional. Long-term residents are generally separated from college students. It's not a party school so even when students are resident it is generally quiet. Area is great. Tim Hortons a ten minute walk. Brampton Library branch just around the corner. Indoor shopping mall, large grocery store, and major bus terminal all within a 15-20 minute walk. Parking is free. Highly recommend for long-term stay for professionals looking to save money, families in transition without little kids (not alot for youngsters to do), and singles looking for a safe, quiet place on a nice campus.

Stayed at the residence while visiting with my daughter so we could tour the college. We had trouble with our toilet not flushing very well, a staff member made a few attempts to fix the problem. The next day we were promptly moved to another room. A voucher for an extra nights stay was given for our trouble. On our last day, check out time was 11:00 a.m., however I was feeling very sick and our flight wasn't till 11:00 p.m. My daughter went to the desk and asked to use our voucher but was told to keep the voucher and feel free to stay the extra night if we needed.
Breakfast was fine as a continental, busses on the campus to go to shops, mall ect.
Rooms were clean, housekeeping came by each day, refrigerators are a bit noisy, at least in the 2 rooms we stayed at.
I would stay there again, clean and comfortable, no frills.

I recently stayed at the Sheridan Residence and Conference centre because I had an early certification exam really in the morning and figured I would be up most of the night studying and instead of driving in from afar, staying right close to campus would be great. The place was good. Staff were really friendly and for a single person I ended up with a two bedroom suite. It's a bit outdated but for a simple stay it is great. The bathrooms were clean, and so was the kitchenette area that had a fridge and microwave. There were no alarm clocks in the room, so considering I had to get up early I brought one anyhow. The beds were comfy and the continental breakfast was good, cereals, breads, butters, coffee, juice and fruit. Good value for the money

Stayed on three separate nights. We needed a wheelchair accessible room but none were available. Nicole was one of the front desk agents who went out of her way to make sure that we were moved to the appropriate room as she had said she would try to do if one became available. She is a true beauty inside and out. Our stay was only perfect because of her ability to step up beyond the means of customer service. Thank you Nicole, you are truly beautiful. 😍
