We had a 2 night stay booked at the end of a 3 week road trip and from the minute we checked in at reception, we had first class treatment right through our stay.
We were even reminded that we stayed at the hotel exactly 7 years ago the exact same time!
We had 2 breakfasts booked and 1 night dinner reservation for the last night of our stay and the food and service was outstanding.
We had a lovely room at the front of the hotel overlooking the main road but with such comfortable beds, we had the best 2 nights sleep!
We were so happy to come back and stay at this lovely hotel and would always recommend to anybody wanting a stay in Vancouver.

First ever stay at this property. Arrived around 8 PM and was conveniently a very short walk (~ 5 minutes) from the Vancouver City Centre Canada Line station.

Sylvain was incredibly gracious / courteous in welcoming us and checking us in quickly and efficiently. We also received a complimentary room upgrade as well as 2x complimentary vouchers for the buffet breakfast valued @ $23 each - a pleasant surprise!

The room itself was immaculate and comfortable with a tremendously comfortable bed, good quality TV, large bathroom, and other nice touches like a Nespresso machine.

Throughout our stay all staff members were very friendly and accommodating. One came around in the evening to provide additional bottles of water, ice, and even some Lindt chocolates.

The pool and hot tub were refreshing and quite good.

We have always done weekend getaways to Vancouver (we live in white rock on the beach so sometimes need our fix of city). Sometimes we have our son and sometimes just the two of us. We have always stayed at the Four Seasons but it is now closed. We have been searching for a replacement and LHermitage is for sure it.
They have a year round heated outdoor pool which is brilliant for kids. You can get a room with a kitchenette. Some rooms have patios.

The service is impeccable. I highly recommend taking breakfast next door at Cafe Medina (a Vancouver breakfast mecca for locals).

They are totally on point with Covid. Presenting us with a PPE package, and the hair dryer and face clothes and robes were all in sanitized packages. They eliminated reusable cups/mugs in favour of sanitized and plastic wrapped one time use cups. Toiletries were in a one use sanitized bag. And to reduce people in the lounge for breakfast they offer complimentary breakfast in your room.

The service staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable.

The location is 5 mins walk to gastown and yaletown. And 15 min walk to science centre/false reek and 10 min walk to the sails and along to coal harbour. And set right next to shopping district along Robson.

Family of four Stayed at Hotel for three nights just after Christmas.
Positives:
Large room with xtra space for bags etc, washing machine / dryer, large kitchen with everything you need.
Great pool and Gym area
Onsite Resturant served a reasonable breakfast,
Great Location for shopping
They do offer excellent service while you are there and prior to check in
Negatives:
Hotel charges you total room price on check in ( which isn't really the issue ) as some hotels will do this and reverse it on check out, usually its only one night stay. The issue was we checked out and paid again this time the right amount ( Bill ) and the lovely service attendant informs us it could take up to 30days for that orignal creditcard hold from check-in to be reversed! two days later after a long flight home we checked our credit card and to our horror they had charged us again so we had three seperate charges held on this card totalling over 6K for a 2K stay. IT took many emails and calls to this hotel to try and sort this out and the whole time they seemed to beleive this was normal and it would all reverse itself in time.
To top this off my daughter and husband left their new smart watches inside the room on the chargers, I emailed guest services straight away once we knew and explained.
It took another email days later to get answer - all I got was Sorry they weren't found.
Interesting as they couldn't be missed on the bedside table by housekeeping.
To make matters worse my young daughters watch is linked to my phone so we were able to track it via a timeline that had us at that hotel . So we are now 100 % sure they were left in the room we stayed in. Who knows If your lucky and check down the side of beds you might find them :)

Responded 29 Jan 2020
Dear 866, Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your review and for choosing L’Hermitage Hotel on your recent visit to Vancouver. We appreciate your positive comments about the property, the service and the location. We certainly started off in the right direction. Please allow me to clarify some of your comments regarding your stay with us. I thank you for sharing your frustration with Mary Ann, our Front Office Manager, regarding your credit card pre-authorization. Like most of hotels around the world, a credit card is pre-authorized for a reasonable amount of funds, beyond the rate of the room, to cover potential room & tax and incidental charges. After investigation, it seems that the hotel was not at fault, followed procedures and only pre-authorized your card for a total amount of $1744.80 to cover your stay & incidentals. You are absolutely right about the hold on a credit card. This procedure is only authorized by banks and not hotels and it usually gets released by banks within 5 to 7 days upon departure. While Mary Ann kindly mentioned it in multiple & very detailed emails with you, I am sorry you felt disappointed with the service, our correspondence and common hotel procedures & policies. As per your comment about items left in your room, any guest belongings found in the hotel is immediately reported and handed to our Housekeeping office for proper recording and storing purposes. We pride ourselves on keeping our teams equipped with the knowledge, training, and tools necessary to identify and address any issues related to a guest stay. Please kindly note that all our rooms are checked by Management before being released in our system. Should we have been at fault or found your lost items, it would have been our responsibility to address the situation immediately and to take the necessary actions. Despite your assertive comments regarding the professionalism of our housekeeping team, I can assure you that nothing was found in your room following your departure. I do hope you appreciate the efforts we have taken to be as transparent and honest as possible in regards to this situation. While, I always encourage our guests to share online their honest opinion; we, as a business, have the option to respond to reviews, share our side of the story and clarify any comments that might be slightly biased. Whether it is before, during, or after a stay, we value all feedback we receive from our guests. Kind regards, Jean-Michel Tanguy General Manager L’Hermitage Hotel Vancouver

Some hotels profess to offer a classy experience despite a lack of class, and others say they’re comfortable and peaceful when they’re most definitely not. L’Hermitage Hotel is classy, peaceful and comfortable, so all major boxes are ticked for us!

Upon checking in, we were greeted by the most wonderful, enthusiastic person. It was straightforward and pleasant, and a few minutes after settling into our room, we received a phone call to ask if everything was to our liking. A knock on the door … a box of chocolates! What service! On top of this personal attention, we were always greeted as we entered the hotel again and again.

The L’Orangerie lounge, located on the fifth floor (I think) is really nice, and a great place to relax, play chess, read, enjoy coffee and so on. It’s where the hotel serves breakfast, which was the only negative for us. It wasn’t a great breakfast at all, especially compared to other hotels at this rating, but it was complimentary (the hotel gave us vouchers to enjoy a free brekkie during our stay).

Our suite was spacious, and the fireplace is a great touch. Felt like a home from home. Each night, we would find Lindt chocolates on our bed, as well as fresh bottles of water.

There was a strange smell in our room that dissipated over time, and may be down to the fact that we had a kitchen. Nothing to ruin our stay, and we didn’t feel it necessary to mention. Overall, this is a fine hotel, and we would stay here again.

Felt very safe, hand sanitizer everywhere and staff was accommodating while social distancing. Reduced number of people allowed in common areas. Common areas were quiet and clean, room was spotless. Bed was comfortable and the marble bathroom was beautiful. The shower had a nice rainfall shower head but the shower stall was on the small side. Breakfast was included and could be delivered to your room. All staff members were so friendly. The pool and hot tub area was my favorite, so beautiful. It is on the 5th floor and away from the street front so is very quiet.

With covid restrictions lifted, it was time for us to visit our family in Vancouver. For our 2 families, we booked 2 rooms for 6 nights. This hotel is exceptional! Although covid restrictions were lifted just a couple of weeks prior to our stay, they remained committed to their health and safety protocols. Even before entering our hotel room, there was a sticker at the door indicating that the room had been cleaned and sanitized. In the rooms, almost everything has been bagged or is new. For example, the remote control, hair dryer, sugar packs, are all it's own sealed bag. The dishes are left in the dishwasher and you can tell that a load was just ran as the dishes were still warm. The paper towel, toilet paper are all brand new packages, not leftover from a previous guest. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, cutlery and a few pots and pans. Anything that we needed such as towels or a less poofy pillow was promptly responded to. Having a washer and dryer was so convenient as we were travelling with young kids. The parkade spots are a bit tight for our 2 minivans but they were kind enough to offer us 3 spots for our 2 cars! The parkade is also very secure, gated for hotel guests. The location is so convenient, close to restaurants, and shopping! An IGA is connected to the hotel, we were able to grab a few groceries the next morning. The best part of our stay was the pool and hottub. The kids loved it so much, they eagerly looked forward to pool time everyday. Because the hotel is so small, it was usually just our 2 families at the pool. The only disappointment was that one of the rooms that I booked was a one bedroom plus den which I purposely booked for the additonal daybed. Unfortunately our room didn't come with one and we were supposed to request it if we wanted it. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much! The hotel/rooms were very clean, safe, and the customer service was wonderful! We would highly recommend for a family with young kids!

I can first say like many others that the communication and staff are first and foremost the reason this place is so highly rated. Every conversation, and service opportunity gave it their time to shine during our stay. We had requested a nintendo switch for the room, and my son couldn't be happier that he had one available for the trip.

Given the time of COVID, this place also did a great job to keep things clean and spaced in the common areas, and personally saw them cleaning the areas around the hotel that would have higher traffic.

With some changes that were needed to be made with my original reservation room being unavailable i was provided complementary parking and breakfast. We used the kitchen and laundry in our rooms and was really happy with how everything was working.

We used the fitness facility and pool and both were relatively quiet during our stay.

The only note for visitors is the beds are a softer than I've had at other hotels, so it is challenging if you do have back problems and require a stiffer bed.

Loved that Jinya was across the street for ramen, and an IGA at the end of the block. Again, can't say enough good things about the people at this hotel.

This excellent hotel offer superb value for money, with spacious & luxurious city centre rooms, at a much more competitive prices than some of its more well-known competitors. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, the breakfast was tasty and filling, the gym was well-equipped if you don't fancy a run round Stanley Park, and the rooms were spacious, well-furnished and comfortable. It has a great location very close to the centre of the city & I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone visiting central Vancouver.

First of all, we have stayed at a few chain hotels during covid and this is by far the best at covid cleaning protocols. No other hotel bags the remote controller, hair dryer and face clothes after sanitizing. I liked that alot because it let's guests know they're clean, but also if they're still in the bags, cleaning staff doesn't need to waste time re cleaning in used items. They can just re sanitize the bag. Also once the room has been cleaned, there is a sticker on the door and door frame to let you know no one has been in since it's been sanitized.

I booked a one night stay in a one bedroom boutique suite for my wife's 40th birthday this weekend. Diana at the front desk is so amazing that if my stay wasn't great I still would give it 5 stars . She is absolutely the best! Diana called shortly after we got into our room to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. We left for lunch and dinner and both times she greeted us and wished my wife a happy birthday. The rest of the staff was top notch also.

Our room was very nice.(571) Large outdoor patio. Extremely nice spa like bathroom with separate tub and shower. Very classy decor. Found the bed to be comfortable but the pillows are very thick. We didn't check the pillows provided in the closet or ask the front desk for thinner pillows so that might be an option. The outdoor pool is great. We basically spent all of our time at the pool while at the hotel. Lots of sun. We didn't get a chance to eat at the in house restaurant unfortunately but it looked very nice. Our daughter would love going for high tea.

We cannot wait to go back and bring our very jealous children. We had so many people message us asking where we were from our Facebook and Instagram stories. My wife even shared our experience on a very large moms Facebook group.

All in all this place has a resort vibe with all the amenities needed to stay on site. Honestly perfect spot for a romantic getaway or family staycation. Stop searching for a hotel and book this one. You won't regret it.

Well it was certainly open a few weeks ago and I saw two people in so suspected it was heated BUT I would suggest you check with the hotel who were most helpful with all our questions. We think it is an excellent hotel and last month it was our second visit.
