Nestled deep in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Tekarra Lodge enjoys an enviable location within Jasper National Park, the largest of the national mountain parks in Canada, 4200 square miles in area. Jasper became a National Park in 1907 and the town site's first buildings were constructed in 1911, then Jasper was known as the town of Fitzhugh. Tekarra Lodge is located across the river from the base of its namesake, Tekarra Mountain. Tekarra Mountain, towering 2635 meters above us is named for the Iroquois guide and hunter who accompanied Sir James Hector on his expedition through the Rocky Mountains during the mid-1850s. The skill and devotion of the guide Tekarra saved the lives of the members of that expedition. He sustained and fed them during the grim and bitter winter with caribou that he hunted on the mountain. It was because of this devotion that Sir James named the mountain Tekarra. The lodge grounds form the banks of the confluence of the Athabasca and Miette rivers. This land is maintained in its natural state, and offers a wonderful study for nature lovers. Tekarra's marked nature walk, and the Indian totem poles give pleasure to all ages. The area and history in and around the property is a fascinating one. One of the first settlements of Jasper called Henry House may have been located adjacent to the lodge on the south side of the river. Even today, there is still indication of an old homestead and some outbuildings. Tekarra Lodge was built circa 1947 and initially consisted of only a few cabins, some of which are standing today.

We stayed for 3 nights. Check in was easy and all COVID-19 protocols were explained and reasonable (in our opinion).
The cabin was attached via one shared wall to another cabin; however we couldn’t really hear anyone other than the shower in the mornings. Most cabins i think are standalone though.
The cabin was quaint, small but still room enough for us and our little dog. It had a nice sized deck, kitchenette, and was appointed with soap, sponge, dishes, pans, etc.
Amenities in the room were all great and appliances in working order. The rocky mountain soap company products were a great touch as well! The Bed was comfortable and clean. There could have been a couple more electrical outlets but not a big deal (Just bring an extension cord). If we needed anything like towels, coffee, soap, etc. We just texted the office and the items were delivered in a timely manner. We even asked for a little table for the deck and they brought us a nice wooden one. Perfect!
It was our anniversary and they had left us a bottle of prosecco and chocolates on the dining table...a very nice touch.
We ate at the tekarra restaurant once on our first night. The restaurant was nice, rustic, food was good, presentation was nice, but slightly overpriced. My wife got the sirloin steak and i got the elk steak.
Location for the property was amazing. Close and connected to various trails. The property is right on the corner of a river bend and two minutes to Jasper. It was nice to be able to sot on the chairs around the property and watch the river and wildlife.
We felt the price for the cabin was perhaps a little steep given the shared wall for our specific cabin and the Restaurant value was average; thus the 4/5 score.
We would not hesitate to stay with Tekarra Lodge again. Too bad they aren’t open in the winter months!

We stayed at Tekerra Lodge for a wedding and found their rates to be more reasonable than the venue where the wedding was taking place. The location is terrific, just on the outskirts of Jasper and no worries about the train blocking the roadways as there is alternate routes with underpasses. This is one of the few locations that you can have an actual wood burning fireplace in your room. We will defiantly stay again.

Lovely!
There were a surprising amount of steep fees you have to agree to when checking in (late checkout, early departure), so make sure you’re organized and prompt.
We stayed in a Miette (small) cabin. It was indeed, very small, but it had everything we needed and more! I loved the older, rustic feel and the fireplace was perfect (but keep your window open more than a crack or the whole room fills with smoke….)! As a bonus, the Rocky Mountain Soap products in the bathroom were great smelling and luxurious feeling (although the pump for our shampoo did it work).
The interpretive nature talk in the evening, along with the fire and s’mores were a great touch!
A walk around the well maintained property with its beautiful views, was the perfect way to complete our stay.
We will definitely return and stay longer (just maybe in a bigger cabin)!

I was SUPER excited for this cabin experience. Unfortunately the cabin was much smaller than expected. Bed too small for two adults to sleep comfortably, but a larger bed would not have fit in the cabin. Fireplace caused cabin to reek of smoke, causing my husband to have a headache. It's a duplex cabin set up and we were unable to sleep, as walls were too thin. We could hear adjoining cabin's doors opening and closing and water turning off and on. The cabin had excellent water pressure but when in use it sounded like pressure washing next door. However, I can NOT overstate the incredible environment and views from this property! The setting is incredible. I recommend booking a cabin without a fireplace and confirming it is not adjoining another cabin.

Thank you for taking the time to review the property. We appreciate your honest feedback and agree that a larger cabin probably would have suited you better. We offer larger units with queen and king beds and stand alone units as well. These are known as the Athabasca cabins and are more spacious. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Jasper.

We normally camp every year in Jasper, but with the COVID-19 restrictions, we opted for a self-contained cabin. We also travel with our dog and needed accommodation with a kitchen, that would accept her. Tekarra Lodge in Jasper was great. It is close enough to town to access services there, but just far enough out to be quiet and peaceful. It has easy access to numerous hiking trails, and wildlife is often seen in the vicinity. A few days before arrival, the staff at Tekarra contacted us to find out exactly what we were going to need in the cabin. On arrival, things were just the way we requested them. They also provided us with a "pet sheet" to cover furniture that our dog may jump on. Since we cover some of our furniture at home in a similar manner, we really appreciated this. Due to COVID-19, our direct interactions with staff were minimal, but they communicated with us daily via text, which was appreciated.
It was a very enjoyable staff in a lovely little cabin, and we felt quite safe and comfortable with the cleaning protocols.

My wife and I wanted to get away for a couple of days, so we took advantage of some of the specials Tekarra Lodge was offering. Check-in was efficient and painless. We were updated twice, once before we arrived, about the precautions they were taking with respect to the pandemic, so there were no surprises. Room is small, but cozy. With the surroundings available out your front door, there is no reason to have a bigger room based on two adults occupying it. Property is located in a great spot with numerous trails to explore with great access to Jasper townsite and highway 93. A huge high-five to the “normal size” coffee pot. And to top it off, premium coffee to percolate in it. Perfect accessory to enjoy the deck on a cool mountain morning. There is no T.V. in these rooms. If you need to have one, you’re in the wrong place to begin with. There wasn’t much going on in the way of activities, but given the current situation, it is totally understandable. The fireplace was a huge hit until we set off the smoke alarm…. My bad. But, was very enjoyable for the time we used it. Chalk it up to inexperience on our part.
To sum it up…. If you’re looking for bling, Netflix, and fancy toiletries, this is not for you. However, if you want to “unclick” off the grid for awhile, in a cozy cabin near some great sights and sounds, this is the place to be.
Tekarra Lodge…. We hope to see you soon this summer.

This is an incredibly beautiful resort, unmatched in location with a breathtaking view point from where one can see the strong currents of the Athabasca river - flowing down from the glacier.. And as well serviced by the friendliest and capable team you would ever wish for. I don't want to make this review too gushing but this staycation went beyond what we had hoped for - providing a calm retreat away from the madding crowd. There were well thought out activities in the resort on the two evenings that we stayed. The cottage itself had a kitchenette which is very convenient for the late morning breakfasts. All in all a rejuvenating experience for the whole family - my 8 year old now wants to make it a "tradition' to repeat every year. We will be back !

The cabins are a bit pricey, but all other aspects of the stay is worth the price. The location is beautiful and quiet. There was a wood burning fireplace and a kitchenette with kitchen supplies in case we wanted to cook for ourselves. The Miette Double Cabin is a cabin split into two rooms. So the cabin half is small, but perfectly adequate for a couple. The bathroom was very neat and clean. The bed was a bit small (double) but again very cute and good enough for a few nights' stay. Dinner at the restaurant was DELICIOUS. Breakfast wasn't as good, but that's in comparison to the wonderful dinner we had, so we had a bit of a bias. We saw a cow elk right outside our cabin in the evening. The rivers below the cliffs were a beautiful scene to sit by. I would definitely recommend the lodge to my friends and family.

We stayed at Tekarra Lodge for 2 nights for a family get away to the mountains. This was our first stay and we were very happy we made the choice to stay here.
The location being right out side of Jasper was very convenient. As soon as we arrived we felt tucked away into the wilderness. The Lodge called us the day before to review Covid-19 protocols and a checklist of items we would need for our stay. Check in was a breeze. We settled up payment checking in, to minimize exposures by having to come back in and pay when leaving.
The Cabin was ready for us and we settled in and went exploring the property. The resort is situated at the meeting of the Athabasca and Miette Rivers, upon discovering this, we went walking along the many paths to get closer to the river and see the beauty of the two rivers coming together.
We had a brief rain that first evening and settled in for the night. Day two took us around the lakes and trails in the vicinity and that evening the fire pit was going with smores.
We loved the quaintness and quietness of the property, the location was perfect and the staff were all very welcoming. Highly recommend staying for a few days here to enjoy the entire experience.

The thing that we loved most about Tekarra Lodge was the location. Located just a short walk out of town, it takes you away from the busy main road that most of the hotels in a similar price range are located along. The surroundings are so beautiful, from the outlook over the rivers meeting, to the trails surrounding the accomodation. It was extremely peaceful, and although it was fully booked at the time of our stay, there was a very tranquil feeling.
The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a BBQ package which was super tasty and easy to cook. We had relatives staying in another cabin, and my brother staying in a Lodge Room, so to all be able to eat outside around the BBQ was a much appreciated.
We had a couple of activities organised during our stay - a private guided hike and a motorbike and sidecar tour. Both were great fun, and both of the tour providers commented on how Tekarra Lodge was one of their favourite locations to pick up guests frm in Jasper.
The cabins were maybe slightly dated, and weren't quite as spacious as we had anticipated. However, they were very comfortable and clean so we were still very satisfied. Everything else about our stay was so good that I have no hesitation in recommending this as an amazing place to stay. We loved it!!!

Hello,
Sorry for any confusion. The site has a 3D option so you can scroll through the room or cabin as if you were walking around the room. I will try and give you tips on how to navigate the site.
When you click on the "Explore Room" scroll to the bottom of the page. You will see a window with a photo of the front office. If you click on the arrows in the photo it will move around. Above this photo are two tabs listed as: 1. Photos 2. Floor Plan
Also, in the bottom right hand corner you will see a small floor plan. At the bottom of this floor plan there are small titles of rooms, cabins, or areas on property.
If you double click on these small titles the cabin 3D tour will open and you can walk through the cabin by clicking on the small arrows on the photos.
What rooms were you looking at reserving? If you are still having issues I can send you some information via email.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Steph Sophocleous
