Nestled in a picturesque setting, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise impresses guests with its enchanting atmosphere and stunning lake view rooms, though some find the rooms small or dated. While the amenities receive mixed reviews, with the Gold Floor privileges standing out, the pool and additional fees leave some guests wanting.
The hotel's cleanliness and high-quality service are frequently commended, with special mentions of the professional staff. However, construction noise and concerns over value for money have been noted by travelers.

Ok, this isn't a newsflash. This is everything, people say or think it is, and then some. We had an updated 2-bedroom suite.... the room was absolutely gorgeous. We also had breakfast included, and everything from the pancakes to the eggs benedict was so tasty. The lobby has a bunch of shops, and 5 different restaurants. If you can't find it in the lobby, you probably can't find it in Canada. The concierge team was great, as was as the bell service folks. Our favorite place was the Lake View Lounge for yummy hot chocolate and Mulled wine. The bartenders were so friendly, interacted with guests, made it fun to sit at the bar and look at the beautiful lake and mountains. A must stay, visit. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

We started our Fairmont Lake Louise adventure with the guided canoe tour with my family of seven. Darcy was our guide and he was a great storyteller. We enjoyed his energy and enthusiasm for the lake and his job. It was physically tough as we rowed to the far end of the lake and back. There were no waves and minimum wind, so it required a lot of people power. The tour was 1.5 hrs with at least an hour of rowing workout. The hard labor is worth it as you'll have a wonderful perspective of the lake and the chateau.
We stayed in two rooms on the first floor for three nights: a LakeView Junior Suite and a Deluxe LakeView room. The Junior Suite could do with remodeling since the Deluxe room had newer beds with more plugs including USB. In general, the power outlets were sparse in the Jr Suite. For example, there was an office/desk area, but there werent any open power plugs within 5meters. The Junior Suite overall was spacious (with a pull-out sleeper/sofa, tub, and 2nd TV) and nearly centered along the mid-point of the lake. It had 2 windows to view the breath-taking lake (although the Deluxe had one very large one) but the space and old furniture was not worth the price it (compared to the Deluxe). I would have given it 5 stars if the Jr Suite was more updated.
There are many restaurants at the Fairmont. While I recommend Louiza for their brunch, the dinner dining was mediocre. Note: I have a party of 7 including a senior citizen and we typically try drinks, appetizers, and meat and seafood main dishes (so we select a good portion of the menu).
On our last night, we were able to get an early dinner reservation at the Fairvew Restaurant. The service (thank you Rex) and food was top notch. Prices are higher, but the food was exquisite (it also has a better view). This is a must try.
There is construction going on till next Summer, but we stayed at the other end of the hotel and weren't really bothered during the day. Overall, this is a bucket list destination that nearly hits the bullseye.

From the moment you come around the bend and see the iconic hotel then the famous views to the moment you leave the staff were amazing and willing to help and proud of where they walk. Our room was a great size with a view of the lake. Canoeing on the lake to walks are great options. Breakfast was awesome only comment was the dinner, Very expensive (location does impact that) and tone honest could have been smaller portions.

The location is the main positive. The hotel itself is a little dated. There is building work underway that also detract from the look and peace. The rooms do need an update. It's really not 5 star. No turndown service. Very few staff about though the ones we did meet were lovely. The pool and sauna are very poor and underwhelming, small and grimy, like a council pool but worse. Changing room was tiny. The shower in the room had low water pressure. The worst thing was the masses on non resident tourists walking about the place. It's chaos and like a motorway through the hotel. On arrival at breakfast the host tried to show us to a table right by the coffee prep place and kitchen door, insanely busy spot. I asked for a table with a view if possible and she led us through to the main area with windows a fab view and lots of free tables. I can't understand why they do that. Our waitress was a wonderful Irish girl. It's really not worth the money. With hindsight I wish we hadn't booked to stay there. There's also nothing else nearby so you are kind of trapped to spend huge amounts on their restaurants.

On our trip to Banff, we went to the Fairmont Lake Louise to skate on the lake. Skating on Lake Louise seemed like such a good idea... until we got here.
First, everywhere you turn you are hit with a sign "No public restrooms", "Restrooms for Hotel Guest Only".
Let's be real. Many people come to visit this hotel, NOT GUESTS, to check out the shops, enjoy a meal, walk around the grounds and see the lake. During our visit it the ICE MAGIC event.
Guests are told the only bathroom they can use is the one in the visitors parking lot, which, by the way, is always packed and usually had a line. Really, you want visitors to spend money here on a visit but don't offer more than one facility.
Then there is the ice skating. Skate rental, not cheap. The ice is horrible. I get it, it's natural ice but this ice was only swept of snow. It's not treated with any type of zamboni equipment. This fact creates an ice that is choppy and bumpy. Several people, including us, complained about the ice conditions and how poor it was. Also, even though we rented skates and wanted to use a restroom before getting out onto the ice, we were told we had to go back to the visitors parking lot and use that bathroom. Really, you are OK with us spending money at your facility but after that, we offer you no facilities.
Next time in the area, I'll stay in Banff.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your visit to Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. We sincerely regret to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, particularly during the Ice Magic Festival, and we apologize for any inconvenience you encountered. We recognize the challenges regarding restroom accessibility for destination visitors during major events such as Ice Magic. Lake Louise attracts thousands of visitors, and unfortunately, Chateau Lake Louise's facilities are not equipped to handle the high volume of guests seeking access to restrooms inside the hotel. We continually evaluate our facilities and services to better accommodate everyone who comes to enjoy the beauty of Lake Louise and make all those visiting the Chateau feel welcome - we appreciate your feedback in this regard. Regarding the ice conditions, maintaining the natural ice on Lake Louise presents challenges, particularly during periods of extreme cold as was the case during Ice Magic this year. We strive to inspect and maintain the rink daily to ensure the best possible conditions. We hope that you will consider visiting us again, and we would welcome the opportunity to better serve you in the future, ensuring a more positive and enjoyable experience. ~ Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

This review is more for those who are visiting the hotel as part of a day trip to Lake Louise, rather than staying at the hotel.
Firstly, the hotel is very clean and very quiet. Stunning surroundings as to be expected. I grabbed something for breakfast and a coffee as I had arrived on the early shuttle bus. You do pay more for this than you would otherwise, but actually with the view and relaxing, it was well worth it. There is also a gift shop, some information areas and very clean toilets.
For those who are staying guests, the areas where "non residents" couldn't go were very clearly defined, which I think is very fair at the prices paid.

The facilities are quite nice and the location is, of course, spectacular but the cost is disproportionate to the accommodations & service provided. Two queen beds for 2 nights with no meals and just a bottle of water in each room will cost you approx. $7,000!!! Yes, that's right. Unreal. Because of the remote location, you'll have to consume most of the meals on sight and the cost is also quite high. Great location but again, at a very high cost. Each room will accomodate a max of 5 people so squeeze in if you can.

After a rocky start (no pun intended), our stay here improved dramatically. Our room, in the "new" wing had barely functioning air conditioning and was stifling hot. Thanks to Atharv (guest services manager), things were rectified quickly and he provided concessions and support throughout the rest of our stay, and turned thing around for us. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The paradox is its beauty which makes it both iconic and one of the major tourist attractions in the area. That, combined with ongoing construction both at the hotel and on the roadway leading thereto, means having to allow plenty of time and patience going to/from the hotel, along with the visiting throngs. Frankly, I would wait and come here after all that construction is completed. To its credit, Fairmont has "hotel guests only" signs at every entrance to keep away those unwilling or unable to pay the exorbitant daily rate. Besides the location/view, there is little to justify the high price. The indoor pool/spa area looks and smells like your local YMCA. Busloads of tours unload at the front door and stop to take selfies and line the hallway of the "grab and go". The strength of the place is actually its food service and personnel, especially the restaurant wait staff; everyone we dealt with was helpful with a smile. Dinners at the restaurants, especially the extra special Walliser Stube, were five star and the only thing worthy of the price. But the resort generally, especially when they add in the GST/provincial/tourism taxes, "resort experience" fees, and self-parking or valet charges, comes at too high a price for a less than 5-star experience.

A four-day trip to Lake Louise Chateau was amazing. My boyfriend was attending a conference and my dog and I came along for a vacation. Lots to do around the Chateau with my dog, many walks and hikes to take, many beautiful viewpoints and our favorite -- the pet sitter. We wanted to attend the Walliser Stube restaurant and were able to enjoy an evening with a pet sitter for a couple of hours AMAZING SERVICE. We also were so impressed with the accomodations they make for people travelling with dogs. Our room had our own plush dog bed, 2 dog bowls (for food & water) a tag to attach in case our dog was lost to let people know we were at the Fairmont and a number to call, as well as vegan pup treats and poop baggies. Loved it! We were able to purchase a Fairmont toy bone for our dog at one of the shops off the main entrance. The room service was fantastic, the staff delivering the food was fantastic, loved the whole experience! By the way, the dinner at WS was amazing and reminded us of our trip to Switzerland. Decadent fondue, truly had us reminiscing.

We stayed for 2 nights and had the very best view of Lake Louise from our room. This view would take something special to beat it in our opinion. 10-10 Check in simple and the receptionist was excellent. Our room was small which was disappointing considering the rate that the Fairmont charge especially when there are major construction works taking place from 7am to 6pm which was annoying as all we could hear was the banging and beep beep sounds from the machinery. The room was clean and nicely presented but it is showing its age as it has scuff marks and looks very worn in places. The shower curtain is very old fashioned and in a hotel of this stature there should be a walk-in shower. Breakfast was extra and overall I would rate this as 7-10. It is missing an Egg Station as it takes too long to order and arrive at the table. The food was ok but was not fully replenished meaning more visits than was necessary to the buffet area. The pancakes we ordered were dry and not really edible. It would be a nice touch of fresh bottled water was in the room every day.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but it could have been better if the hotel had a facelift in our opinion.

I stayed there last week. The building work is extensive and probably a quarter of the grounds between the hotel and the lake and that section is a fenced off building site. They have heavy duty machinery running from 9-5 and it is very loud all day. If you are at the rear of the hotel you will hear this work and it is very loud, the rooms seem well sound proofed but likely depends how close to the works you are. In the gold lounge drilling was incredibly loud, getting breakfast at 9am it was loud, constant and unpleasant, the hotel are making an active effort to room people away from the works but during my stay they were extensive and noisy.
My reply is a bit past your trip.. but we stayed in sept and had a lake front room and the construction didnt take away. Even down there on teh grounds it didnt bother us. They sure need that new pool so handicapped people can access the new pool.
That high in the mountains, you will likely have similar winter conditions in October to what you might encounter in November. Lake Louise is beautiful any month of the year. In the summer months, the lake is turquoise and reflects the backdrop of the mountains. In winter, it is frozen over with a covering of snow. When it is foggy, you are not able to see the mountains behind the lake, so the view on a sunny day is much more spectacular. The weather, of course, is variable, so what exactly it will be like when you go is unpredictable.

There are options for locations on Breakfast depending on your tariff/package booked.
It also depends on what season and whether weekend/weekday stay.
It is a wonderful hotel and you are best placed to ask when arranging your choice/tariff.
