The Moraine Lake Lodge has everything needed to be a really great small hotel- lovely rooms, an exclusive location and nice amenities. But , for us, it just didn't measure up to its $1000+ per night tariff.
Reception was friendly, but afterwards you kind of feel on your own. We asked about arranging private transportation to get to Lake Louise just down the road and were told the name of a company. They said we could look up their number and come down to use their "emergency" phone to phone them. A hotel at this price range should be a bit more accommodating.
Our room was great, with a view of Lake Moraine and a fireplace that worked beautifully. Unfortunately we were anxious to try our steam shower which we had never experienced. It was broken- a detail that had not been pointed out to us. So I got to experience standing naked in the shower trying to figure out how to get the darn thing to work. The room could also be a bit noisy with all the day visitors lined up outside for the cafe and guests in the library below our room. So it wasn't a good place for a nap, but that is a small complaint.
The high price tag did come with some perks. Breakfast was good and complimentary. There were free cold meat and cheese sandwiches around lunchtime and tea and cookies in the afternoon. Canoes were also free to guests of the hotel- not a small advantage since down the road at the Fairmont they were over $100 an hour. The hotel also had nice walks and hikes to take up your day.
Perhaps the biggest disappointment was the dinners. We ate there both evenings (quite inconvenient to go anywhere else). The food was good enough but not great. Dishes lacked any depth of flavors or uniqueness to make them stand out in your memory. I asked about how my venison should be cooked and was told the chef always recommended medium rare. I said let's do that. It came medium and was a bit tough. Just not as good as we expected.
I wanted to really, really like this hotel. But in the end, I can't say it was that memorable, save for being situated on Lake Moraine which is pretty spectacular.

Location, Location, Location. Says it all. A breathtaking location, and staying at the lodge the best way to access the Lake and the incredible views. Deluxe King cabin was great, all facilities and a fabulous view. BUT, the lodge itself does not come up to expectations in trying to be a "Luxury " experience. The food was very mediocre, breakfasts particularly, and very expensive for the standard you received. The lodge area is swamped with tourists arriving by bus transfer from early morning to late evening, always crowded, always aware of their presence. The gift shop & cafe for visiting tourists are physically linked to the lodge, so you are always aware of their presence. We tried to access the gift shop before it opened to tourists, but even as guests we were not allowed in - one of the thoughtful things that would have elevated the experience. A light lunch is provided, but when we asked for coffee to accompany the meal, we were told to go to the cafe and get our own, and wait in the considerable queue. Wouldn't have missed the experience of staying at Moraine lake, but could be so much better for the prices charged.

OMG what a location and view. It was our 2nd trip from Australia and we had previously stayed at the Fairmont at Lake Louise. Moraine Lake Lodge has everything and more, it is also a lot quieter (I do know others have stated it is really busy here too, but what can you expect from a location like this). The staff from booking to arrival were very helpful, informative and accommodating. The rooms are beautiful - we did not stay in the lodge but had a room seperate. The room itself was luxurious and the sunken seating area with a log fire was always nice to come back too! The resort offers a lot of complimentary items including breakfast, lunch (soup/sandwiches), afternoon tea, guided hikes (on set days), free canoe rides and nature talks. There are no laundry facilities provided on site and the room does not have a fridge or tv (items we did not miss, especially with the view from the room ). I loved that at any point of our 2 night stay we had the ability to walk down and around the lake, visit the rockpile at anytime or just sit and take in those amazing views. The restaurant is open for dinner but we did not eat there. It is expensive (still cheaper than the Fairmont), but well worth it for the accommodation, amenities and of cause those bucket lists views.

This is a beautiful lodge in an incredible location with great access to fantastic hiking trails right on the properly. The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. However, it is also very expensive and so, when they told me at the time of my reservation that they would cater to my dietary restrictions (due to an intestinal disease), I believed them. Unfortunately, they did nothing to help me out and I inadvertently ate dairy (which does not agree with me) on multiple occasions because I didn't realize it was a part of the dish. On other occasions when I requested non-dairy alternatives to the offerings I was told there weren't any. And on each day's packed lunch, I sadly had to peel off the cheese they had added.
Other issues - we stayed in one of the king cabins, the most expensive room they offer. The mattress quality was not good. On the last night, I threw the sofa cushion on the floor and slept much better there than I had on the bed.
Also - when one hikes all day, a space to stretch would be very helpful. The room did not have enough floor space to throw down a towel or mat to stretch and there was no place to stretch in the main lodge. This would be a simple addition to their facility.
I wish I could say that I will return. I'd love to, but only if I were to receive convincing reassurances that my dietary issues would be handled better in the future (but this seems unlikely given that management did not answer my email describing what happened to me).

Situated on the side of Moraine Lake, it consists of a number of chalets on the hillside running up from the lakeshore as well as the main building housing the reception, a number of bedrooms, library come snack area, gift shop and restaurant. We were in a chalet with a decent view down to the lake, the chalet itself being very comfortable. On entering, the well equipped bathroom was to the left with the bedroom area being next as you moved in, this being equipped with a tea and coffee making option. There was also an outside seating area overlooking the lake on the same level. Then there was a step down to the seating area equipped with a sofa, armchair and small table and a lovely fireplace. The whole interior had a real comfy feel to it enhanced further when the fire was lit with all the wood being included as part of the deal. Complimentary breakfast is included, the choice and quality being good while sandwiches and beverages are also complimentary at lunch time in the library area. We ate in the restaurant both nights - reviewed separately - the dining room being pleasant with the staff being friendly and efficient. You are also given the complimentary option of going canoeing on the lake which we did and which we really enjoyed. It should also be noted that there are several walks starting close by ranging from easy to hard so offering a choice to all levels of walkers. The staff, throughout our stay, were very friendly and helpful and really made you feel welcomed. The biggest compliment I can make for the lodge is that if we ever visited the area again, this is where we would stay!

Our stay at Moraine Lake Lodge was quite disappointing. We stayed in a king-size cabin, which was okay and came with firewood, adding a nice touch. However, the water level in the lake was too low for canoeing, which was a letdown as we were looking forward to this activity.
The morning breakfast was included in our stay, but the experience was far from satisfactory. The stove was not working, so no hot breakfast was provided. Moreover, the fruit served included watermelon that had gone bad. This was unacceptable, as it was not just a matter of the fruit being less than fresh—the watermelon was visibly rotten, yet it was still served to guests.
For a lodge that charges around $2000 CAD per night, we expected much higher standards. The issues we encountered significantly detracted from what should have been a premium experience. We hope the lodge addresses these problems to ensure future guests do not face the same disappointments.

Stayed for one night with friends . Our double room was lovely but dated and very cold. The man on reception clearly didn’t want to engage with guests and kept his head down on our arrival and the lady the showed us to our room was very robotic and generally not what you would expect when patting $1300 a night. The staff kept saying the breakfast was complementary but actually it’s not when you consider what you pay a night. We had a great time hiking and the lake is beautiful but I would not stay here again as it’s over priced for what it is and overrated as a lodge. We have stayed in far better for a fraction of the cost

Moraine Lake Lodge is situated in one of the most beautiful locations on earth. Set beside a pristine turquoise lake surrounded by towering mountains, it’s a feast for the eyes. Yes, it’s expensive and a splurge, but you are paying for the locale as much as the room. The lake views from our second story room in the main building were outstanding. The price tag includes a full breakfast, light lunch, and afternoon tea. Dinner is extra, and while the service was a bit slow, the food was delicious. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary during our one night stay and were greeted with champagne on ice. It was a nice touch. The library, where lunch and tea are served, is cozy and welcoming. There are naturalist talks three nights weekly, one hour use of a canoe for those more adventurous, and daily docent led nature hikes of varying degrees of difficulty — all complimentary. Because the lake is incredibly popular, the government has curtailed the use of private vehicles into the area except for lodge guests. However, tourists still arrive by the busload and the hiking trails, cafe, and gift shop are beyond crowded during the day. However, the Lodge is set up so that it is entirely private for guests’ use only, and it’s wonderful to sit quietly on the balcony watching the world go by below. This is definitely a special occasion experience and one I would highly recommend.

The value for money at this lodge does not match in any way. For such a high overnight rate you expect a room with all amenities. This was not true at all, as the room was much too small (no room for 2 large suitcases to open), no refrigerator, no water in the room and the light protection (interior gates) was also broken, you could not lower. We have travelled a lot around the world and paid the same or less for a suite or executive room in 5 star hotels. All I can say is it's completely overpriced. For half or 1/3 of the price you could consider staying there.

We loved our stay at Maligne lake Lodge, particularly as we saw our 1st grizzly bear there. Just a couple of niggles, which is why I haven’t given 5 stars. We stayed in a king size cabin and thought the accommodation was really special. Cosy mountain lodge style (much nicer than Emerald Lake Lodge where we also stayed) with a view of the lake, sadly because of snow (in June!) we didn’t get to use the seats on the balcony or the Adirondack chairs on the deck. My criticism would be with the catering, from other reviews I was expecting a really good breakfast buffet. This has now been replaced by a sit down meal, admittedly what you choose is freshly cooked but it’s all a bit grudging. We were not offered orange juice or toast, just happened to spot it on someone else’s table so asked for it. It’s definitely not a hearty hikers breakfast. Dinner was ridiculously expensive, 60 - 90 dollars for a main course! Irritating when (as we had not driven to the lodge) there is nowhere else to go. Also as coffee addicts it was frustrating how difficult this was to get hold of - there are a small amount of pods for the nespresso machine (wish we had brought our own!) and coffee is served between 3 and 5 pm in the library, but outside of these times you have to go to the cafe on the ground floor which is open to the public and has massive queues. Surely for these prices there could be a coffee machine in the library for guests to use?

Look into all the properties that were once owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway.
We stayed in some smaller properties. Like Emerald Lake Lodge great views; gorgeous lake and setting; excellent food.
We also stayed at the Post Hotel , near Lake Louise. Chalet accommodations. R
Hi. It’s better to book a table because the dining room is not so huge. But i guess we did it only 1-2 weeks before by email to be sure to have one at our arrival. Everything was nice (food, service, room....) dont hesitate to ask a table « next to the window ». Have fun
