Although the location is excellent, this tired little resort is in desperate need of renovation and repair. Also, upon arrival, the power was off and no one available at front desk (it was closed) to offer any explanation or timelines. Wi-Fi is available, but so slow that you are better off using cellular data (Wi-Fi - Ping 47, download 0.7mBs, upload 1.1mBs) - was told by staff when reserving that they were able to Zoom call on wi-fi which was virtually impossible. Their text system is not monitored for the most part, and one of our inquiries was placed at 5:00 PM and answered at 10 AM the next day. This text was about whether we could bring a pet, which was OK with them, but a charge of $25 was levied per night. I think this is perfectly acceptable as pets would ostensibly cause additional wear and tear on the place. However, there was evidence of pets having been there before - and previous pet levies were never used to repair anything. So, why the charge? Not an fully inclusive list of updates/maintenance/repairs needed, but here it goes. Front deck is sloping and hasn't been painted in years, grass has likely not been mowed or trimmed this year, front door has animal scratches and light can be seen through the door, glass on the fake wood stove has not been cleaned, hand prints all over the front window, arm rests on couch were stained black and the cushions had bleach stains, sign on fireplace says "push on" referring to a light switch above it??, outlet cover in the bathroom didn't completely cover the outlet box, there was no toilet paper on the holder upon arrival - and you can see your hand through what was offered, the cupboards are stained and likely were installed when the cabins were built, the furniture is chewed up and marred, the pull out couch sags so much it is uncomfortable to sit on, the beds are very small and although there is room for a queen bed, they are only doubles, the dishwasher works, but missing wheels on the racks. All this for $750 per night!

Our last night of our trip was spend at Castle Mountain where we had very high expectations (specially when you are paying almost 500$ a night) but we had the worst experience. Found two pieces of underwear in the room, dishes were dirty, squirrels in the roof, spider web inside, worst shower head you’ll ever see in your life, hole in the ground under the table (missing a cover) front burner of the stove not working. Ended up getting a full refund for our night but we would of prefer paying it and having a wonderful experience.

We booked for 2 nights. You can hear everything from adjoining suites, people talking in normal voices carries thru to your living area, kids playing normally in suite beside you sound like they are in adjoining room as the noise comes to you, doors closing from suite (upstairs & downstairs, can be felt/heard. ) On upper level , you hear people dragging suitcases & talking outside your bedroom window ( at 5:30 am in our case) , You WILL definitely hear trains, as they blast their horn 3 times whenever they go by but it doesn’t last. Only mention this as for some people it would certainly wake them up. The bed & pillows are quite comfortable . Kitchen area would meet your needs. Furniture is dated but couch was comfortable. There is a Small table & bench stools. All said, if coming to this area it’s not to spend time indoors so consider booking a cabin as they would be better. The location of course is beautiful and it’s easy to locate. Just don’t book a suite

Great location. Convenient to Banff and Lake Louise. We cooked all our own meals. The grills worked well and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes. If you can't sleep with trains going by about 100 feet from your window, this is NOT the place for you.

Honestly it's what you would expect in Banff. A beautiful location with amazing views but terribly overpriced and average accommodation. Lots of little items like matches for the wood-burning fireplace, the tv remote and a way to keep the shower curtain closed in the bathroom, were missing from our chalet. It was rustic and cute and you cannot beat the view but would I pay that much to stay there again? Absolutely not. I'd honestly rather camp if I wanted to stay in a more remote location than right in town. You can find cheaper accommodation in Banff/Lake Louise/Canmore and just drive out to see Castle Mountain and the attractions on the Parkway. They do have a little general store but don't expect a lot of groceries. Get what you need in town. They don't have marshmallows (which is funny because there is a great firepit for guest use) but they do have an entire aisle of wine/beer/spirits.

Had a wonderful experience staying here in our own cabin in the woods. Nothing fancy, but exactly what we wanted. Close to the hiking trails with multiple waterfalls and a store onsite for essentials. Having a kitchen made it easy to fix eggs in the morning and get on with our day. Staff was great and accommodated all our needs. The fire pit located in the center of the cabins was our go to place each night.

This is the perfect location halfway between Banff and Lake Louise, and right on the highway to Yoho. You can either hop on Highway 1, or take the Bow Valley Parkway. And it's literally at the beginning of Hwy 93 to Yoho. My 1 BR cabin was perfect - the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was large and even had a jetted tub. The kitchen was stocked with all the basic supplies, and the sitting room had a real fireplace, with kindling and logs ready to light. It was very clean and totally comfortable. I enjoyed having my dinner out on the front porch after a long day of hiking - only a few mosquitos. Having a gas pump and the small convenience store right there was also very handy. The only reason I gave service a 4 is that the office closes at 5:30 M-F, which I didn't realize - I barely got there at 5:15 to check in after a long day making my way down from Jasper. I would definitely stay there again!

I stayed in a Classic Cedar Chalet for three nights in mid-June. Unfortunately it wasn’t what I expected and I wouldn’t stay here again. I have stayed in a similar type of accommodation in Jasper and it is both less expensive and the quality is way better so I was disappointed. Pros -great location. Right off the highway for easy access to everything, but also on the bow valley so close to places like Johnston canyon. -the cabin itself I thought was quite large. I have stayed in smaller ones so appreciated the space. It’s a bit older and more rustic, but has everything you need. -aside from the train (see below) the area was quiet at night Cons -my cabin faced the parking lot, store and super scenic bear proof garbage can. The place is quite busy with many people stopping in to use the store, get gas and eat at the picnic tables. This meant that if my blinds were open people were literally staring right at me. I felt very uncomfortable and generally kept the blinds closed as a result, which really put a damper on the stay for me as it was dark and I felt closed in. -there was no mountain view from the cabin or the front door even though the website says all have a mountain view. I would have to walk to a different part of the property to see that. -the train is LOUD. I knew this was a possibility going in so this is really my own fault. I brought my ear plugs and my white noise app and I had a cabin farther away from the tracks. I figured I’d be okay. I was not. Many people commented on the horn of the train, but what I found loudest and unable to drown out even with my app at full volume was the actual vibration and sound of the train itself which woke me up constantly (every 30-60 minutes) the first night. The next two nights I had gotten a bit used to it, but it was still a big problem for me. I am a light sleeper so I guess now I know I can’t stay near a train. -the staff that checked me in were pretty ambivalent. They weren’t rude, but I definitely didn’t feel welcome like other places I’ve stayed. No information was given to me about the cabin or the area other than where mine was located. -there was no information in the cabin about the cabin (eg. how to use the fireplace), the amenities (eg. communal laundry, bbq) or tips for the area which I usually find helpful to read. I didn’t receive any information about check-out and the office wasn’t open when I went to check-out so I had to just explore and find a key drop on my own. -it smelled super smoky in the cabin. I assume from the fireplace and maybe people enjoy that smell, but I did not. -there is no patio or chairs provided for this specific type of cabin. This was okay since it was pretty chilly when I was there, but in nicer weather it would be nice to be able to sit outside your cabin. -no plug ins near the bed. This was annoying since my phone had to be plugged in to user the white noise app and also my phone is my alarm. Not a major con, but an inconvenience to have to get up and cross the room to turn the alarm off. -also not a major con, but inconvenience is that there are no bedside tables or shelves so you have to just put your glasses and other nighttime things on the floor. I don’t think it would be too hard to put in a tiny table or some shelves? Other comments -while it’s a pro to have the store and gas station right there, make sure you check the hours. When I was there the gas station didn’t open until after I’d be gone for the day (930) and was closed by the time I got back (530). Same with the store. Overall, the lack of view and overall atmosphere as well as the train were the two main reasons I would not stay here again. The rest were things that would not stop me from staying again if those two were not a factor. While the view could be improved with a different cabin, there is nothing to do about the train.

We stayed here 5 nights and loved it! We wanted to enjoy everything Banff had to offer but not necessarily be downtown Banff. This is exactly what we needed. Peace and quiet. I recommend picking up groceries and bring them with you. There is a little store on site incase you forget anything. Everything you need to cook is provided. There are also bbqs. The cabin was tiny but had everything we needed. We wish the shower didn't have a slanted ceiling. It made half the shower unusable. The wood stove was perfect for those chilly nights. We definitely left feeling refreshed and look forward to coming back.

Covered sitting area out front. Nice kitchen and dining area. Daily firewood provided for the fireplace. Had a shower and a soaker tub with plenty of water pressure and hot water. The only issue we had was the bed. It was small queen that was well used. There is a train track right by the cabins. We liked it but bring ear plugs for a more restful sleep.
