Detailed Reviews

Banff High Country Inn is a great place to stay with a perfect location just a few blocks from the pedestrian road, shops, restaurants and the bridge over the Bow River. The staff was very kind, friendly and helpful, the room was immaculately clean and freshly maintained and had plenty of space. Having a balcony was a nice way to enjoy some more fresh air while catching our breath at the end of an active day. Parking is at a premium in Banff but was always available under or behind the hotel building. We highly recommend the Banff High Country Inn!

What courteous and amazing staff - Always a smile and polite welcome greeting. There was ongoing construction which we were aware of and other than walking around on the street there was no issue. We were on the first floor facing the main street and there was no sound disturbance at all from outside. The room had two queen beds, a fridge, and desk and ample TV counter area along with a side table and chairs close to the patio door. The bathroom sink is in a separate area outside of the toilet/bathtub area which can be helpful. The room had plenty of outlets to plug in and charge multiple gadgets. The furniture was a bit chipped on edges and showed wear and tear. The property is a close walk into the "town" and a pleasant stroll. Unfortunately, due to the construction the parking was challenging since spaces in the back were few (the underground parking garage was available). Also, breakfast was not available and instead a discount was offered at a nearby restaurant. We just went to eateries in town to enjoy options. Highly recommend this property for a stay in the Banff area.

The High Country Inn is a wonderful hotel in an excellent location. You can easily walk down Banff Ave to explore the shops and restaurants, and quickly retreat from the noise and crowds when the day comes to an end. The hotel is getting a refresh, but I never heard a single hammer or power tool during my stay so kudos to management for ensuring that guests were unaffected. The room was quiet and peaceful, the AC worked perfectly, and the wi-fi was solid. It was also nice to have laundry on-site to wash clothes after accumulating a load of dirty hiking clothes. The underground garage was convenient, albeit snug. People with full-size trucks and SUVs should use caution to make sure it's not too tall or long. They do have a few surface parking spots for larger vehicles. I did notice one minor quirk...the electrical outlets are very slow to charge. The staff was friendly and attentive, and even provided loaner bear spray for hikes. I would definitely stay here again.

Was at the High Country Inn for a conference. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The underground parking is pretty tight and stalls are narrow and only 6 feet of clearance. There is parking behind the building. The rooms are quite large with a nice sitting area and large balconies. The washroom is quite small and the sink is right there as you enter the room.
The pool is large and there are two hot tubs...however the chlorine is quite strong.
The hotel was able to recommend a caterer for our event which drove up from High River (2 hours away) to cater our suppers at a good cost. The meeting room was quite spacious and staff made sure our coffee supply was always stocked.
It is only a few minutes walk from the main part of main street which is nice for those afternoon breaks.

The High Country Inn is a great place to stay in Banff without breaking the budget whilst still getting amazing views of the mountains and also getting extremely good service and amenities throughout. The staff were extremely helpful and willing to do anything to help you out. The location is along the main street in Banff with a 5-minute walk to all the shops and restaurants Banff has to offer. Will definitely be staying here again without a doubt

We stayed at High Country Inn for four nights, and are so glad we chose it as the last hotel of our trip. The location is great, right near to shops and restaurants but not too close to the busiest parts of Banff Ave.
Service was very good - we arrived early to ask if we could borrow some bear spray prior to checking in. This wasn't an issue and we were told our room was already ready - this was at 10am, really impressive!
We had a one-bed suite which was great, a really spacious top floor corner room with excellent (quiet!) air con, two comfortable beds, two TVs, fridge, microwave, table and chairs and a bathroom with powerful shower. We slept really well here.
We used the indoor pool/jacuzzi area which was really nice although maybe feeling a tiny bit dated. We did find the hot tubs a little too hot!
There's indoor and outdoor parking, however we did have a couple of times where we struggled to find a space.
There's some maintenance happening at the hotel and I believe it's shutting completely for a few months. We thought it was great as it was (our room didn't feel dated at all), so we'll definitely return next time we're in Banff (hopefully soon)!

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a hard time getting our room cleaned once. We have a dog and took her out for 3 hours in the morning and asked for our room to be cleaned at this time, the front desk staff Cameron said he would have someone clean it but when we returned this wasn’t done. I went back to the front to request it to be cleaned and my husband took our dog out again- I sat and waited for over 15minutes and no one came to clean it. When I went back to the front and talked to Cameron to request again about it being cleaned he gave me a ton of attitude and said they were busy and had a lot of rooms to clean- by this point it’s 1pm and still no progress to get clean towels or bedding. When I asked to speak to the manager he said they weren’t there and basically gave me the impression he had no desire to help anymore. I stood in the lobby for another 10 minutes and then saw the cleaning staff come by. Meanwhile I am 6 months pregnant waiting in the lobby while my husband is outside in very cold temperatures trying to occupy our dog while we wait.
This could have been handled much better, we weren’t asking for much, just some towels bedding and garbages changed.
We are truly disappointed in this hotel as we came here to enjoy a romantic baby moon before our little one arrives and felt like we were such a nuisance to the staff at the front desk for simply asking for a room changeover.
The other front desk staff have been lovely and it’s a shame that this young man Cameron lacks in the customer service department as he is the face of the hotel when management and the owners aren’t around. Please try better as this type of experience can really effect a guests stay in a negative way.
Other than that, the pool was great with the two small hot tubs and easy access from our room on the first floor. Great location to all major amenities, good price for what you get! Just need to work on the staff at the front and prioritizing customer satisfaction, we aren’t fussy people at all, so this was a bit of a shock, my first negative review.. but felt something had to be said.

Great location, balcony with chairs and view of the mountains, a table and chairs in room so we could eat a take-out meal. 10% discount at two excellent restaurants right next door, and free parking. (This is important as there is no free parking anywhere in the downtown area.) Friendly desk receptionist gave us good suggestions for nearby hiking. This was the nicest room we stayed in during a 9-night trip to Glacier National Park in Montana and Banff, Jasper, and Lake Louise in Canada, and it was also the cheapest! Wish we could have stayed there more than one night.

Free underground parking was too low for our vehicle, but we were able to find a parking spot in the back lot.
We were greeted quickly at checkin and had no issues.
Our room was clean, comfortable, and in a good location for us to tour Banff by bicycle. We used the ski room in the parkade to lock up our bicycles and liked that it could only be accessed by a room key. Bike storage was a handy feature.
We basically only used the room to sleep as we spent most of our time touring Banff and area attractions. We used the pool and hot tub area and there was no-one else there so it was nice and quiet.
There is a restaurant connected but we did not visit it.
This hotel is nothing fancy but it is convenient and friendly. Would stay here again.

6 incredible days during 2 different stays in 3 different rooms! The staff at High Country inn was so accommodating after our group of 22 were rerouted to Banff due to the unfortunate Jasper fires. All the rooms were clean, well set up, and very comfortable. Loved the hot tubs and the pool which have large windows offering mountain views. El, Jessica, & Ignacio, went above and beyond to be sure we were happy. All 22 of our group were delighted with the staff, location, rooms, lobby, coffee, snacks, and resources available in the lobby. The hotel is decorated beautifully with very nice touches. When I return to Banff the High Country Inn is the only place I will stay!

The pool was open but not the whirlpool. You should check again.
The Italian/Swiss restaurant next door, will be closed. Recommend Melissas's for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There are many more nearby.
HI Karen,
The High Country Inn has an onsite Laundry. Hope this helps and hope you enjoy you stay as much as we did.
Cheers, Michelle
