Detailed Reviews
Lovely setting convenient to town and hiking trails. Appreciated the fully-equipped kitchen with coffeemaker and tea kettle. Two bedroom condo needs some polish. Bedrooms are tiny and lack closets. Paint was peeling on the woodwork, and there wasn’t enough coffee for our entire stay. Sunday brunch was grossly overpriced, so we opted to eat in town.
More troubling was the pool and hot tub: the outdoor hot tub was filthy, so we used the indoor hot tub. Whatever they used to treat the water ruined our swimsuits by bleaching them. The women’s locker room had no towels, the hot water for the shower didn’t work and neither did the hand dryer in the women’s locker room.

We stayed in the two bedroom wolf condo (king and queen bed). We had two medium dogs and my mother in tow and had a great stay. I was a bit concerned about my reservation after reading the not so favourable reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. We were going to travel with 5 adults and 3 dogs initially, and this condo was spacious enough to accommodate everyone. With three adults and two medium dogs (30 lbs), two bedrooms and two bathrooms, it was the perfect size for our comfort level. Our rooms and bathrooms were clean and our full kitchen had everything we needed including a dishwasher and microwave. The only reason I gave our stay 4 stars, is because the rooms could be updated for the price of the stay($$). We also had supper and breakfast at their restaurant which taste great. They provided a water dish for our dogs where the patio is pet friendly as well. At check in, they provided pamphlets for pet friendly information which was awesome and even gave us complimentary dog beds to use. They do provide treats and dog dishes if needed. The resort is very close to downtown Banff and all amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the staff were great!

I was put off by previous reviews but my 2 BR was a nice surprise (unit 2706). No dirty areas, no mold. My room must have been recently renovated.
The wifi was weak and went in and out. The master bed (king) creaked near the window, otherwise perfect. Coffee filters were available at the front desk. Pickleball equipment was available.. Hot tub outside needs some love and should be renovated. It was more like a warm pool, jets are not too strong.
Staff was great. The location is right off of the highway enabling easy trips to Yoho, Canmore and Lake Louise. The location is not downtown which worked for us. The shuttle was a true benefit as parking is difficult downtown.

About the only thing good here was that they were pet friendly.
It is so run down and literally the only thing that looks upgraded ever, is the faucets and some lights.
Definitely not worth 200.00 +/night plus 100.00 pet deposit. Maybe 50.00/night
They’ve definitely sunk money into their pics on their website cause they definitely havent sunk any into the buildings.
Stucco falling off everywhere, stains on the walls and ceilings. Our room smelled like an old trappers cabin.
The baseboard heaters look like they’re from the 60’s/70’s. The toilets as well. The rooms are small. The TV worked but if you’re looking to plug in a dongle for online streaming, don’t bother, the remotes have basic functions only and you can’t change the inputs even on the TV itself.
The pool was gross as were the hot tubs both inside and outside. The tiles look like they are the original from first construction and have never been updated or replaced. There was a lively film on too of the water with many different “floaties” from hair to gawd knows what. The water was also lukewarm. There were used/dirty napkins or something around the edges.
My wife called the restaurant to ask for some ketchup and mayo for our breakfast, was told to just come over and get it and all is good. I went to get it and the restaurant was completely empty, no surprise, and there was a cup of ketchup packets, the waiter sauntered out and i asked for the mayo as well and he said “ we don’t have mayo” lol….. What???
Anyway, long story short, we will never stay here again. We could’ve gotten way more bang for our buck somewhere else. Sadly my wife was fooled by the online website.
Never agin and we will not be recommending this place to anyone.

Extremely disappointing! Arrived early evening after a long drive to Banff. As we drove up the whole hotel it looked washed out and overdue a refresh. Checked in paid and then proceeded to room. Instantly concerned as door to room was loose and lock felt like it was about to drop out of door. Walked into the room which smelt damp, multiple flies and mosquitoes flying around the kitchen area. Overall the room wasn’t inviting and looked like it needed a serious deep clean and revamp. Huge disappointment to arrive to a room in this condition.
The blocks of rooms in the car park give off motel feel and we couldn’t face a 5 night stay in this property.
We didn’t unpack, went straight back to the reception to ask for refund and cancel booking. We were not the only guest that evening that expressed the disappointment with the rooms and hotel.
Guest services didn’t question our decision and told me they refunded us in full. I later received email to say due to cancellation policy they would be taking payment for 1st night stay. Understand the policy but again very disappointed as the room and hotel felt very poor vs images and marketing online.
Would recommend avoiding this hotel
And spending a little extra to find hotel in central Banff

Have to agree with the majority of these negative reviews. Banff Rocky Mountain Resort represents the poorest value - accomodation/service/facilities of every single hotel I have ever stayed in - from the lowliest hostel to the top five star Asian palace.
We knew rates would be high in Banff during the Calgary Stampede but for nearly CAD400 per night, we were shocked at the state of this establishment? Our room was shabby, in dire need of refurbishment and not at all clean. The staff were thin on the ground and not fully informed on pretty much everything. The very young servers in the 'restaurant' were at least pleasant and willing but the food was very poor - again at this price point.
The 'resort' might suit larger families, with pets in tow. However, it is way out of the main Banff town area and you can be completely dependent on the slightly irregular shuttle service.
Our own suite smelled very musty - as reported elsewhere - but reception staff seemed unconcerned by our complaints. Overall, a very lax management style?
Even given that this was a peak period pricing week, Banff Rocky Mountain Resort represented incredibly poor value for what we paid.
We cannot recommend this establishment at all. Avoid at all costs - dig a little deeper and book yourselves into one of the more upmarket hotels in town. You will not regret your investment.

The resort is extremely dated and tired, in much need of a renovation. The staff are rude, misleading, aggressive and disinterested. We were in a group of families and informed on our first night the pool was unavailable to children after 9pm, despite 10pm being printed on all literature that was given to us at check in.
This policy resulted in farcical scenes one night where all the families were kicked out of the pool - leaving... quite literally nobody..
The restaurant is small, inadequate and overly priced, but don't worry they will refuse to serve you to sell food if you are looking to order for a larger group. This loss of revenue for the resort is more than made up for in the exorbitant fees they charge for a tired, dirty room. Do not stay here, other hotels on Banff high street offer vastly superior value, service, cleanliness and overall facilities. For the price - it's an embarrassment; by far my worst hotel experience in Canada.

7 night 6 day ski trip arrived at midnight with my wife and another couple to find that they had mysteriously cancelled our reservation. The highlight of our stay was the front desk clerk that checked us in. We were a bit cranky after a long day of flights from Boston to Calgary. She was polite, patient with my grumpiness and found us a room. She handled us very well.
The room:
Dirty - empty bottles under the bed, trash on the bedroom shelves and dust everywhere. The fireplace hearth was missing stones, the floors looked like they were used for a hockey rink.
Staff and amenities:
The outdoor hot tub was out of order, the fitness room hadn’t been updated since the 70’s. Other than the women that checked us in, the staff was unfriendly and seemed annoyed with our presence.
The shuttle:
The resort advertises free shuttle to Sunshine and encourages a car free vacation. The shuttle no longer runs when asked for suggestions I was told that most people rent a car

Not too good. During my recent stay at the hotel, I encountered several issues that significantly impacted my experience. Firstly, the room was not properly cleaned upon arrival; there were visible stains on the bedding and towels, suggesting a lack of attention to cleanliness. Additionally, the room itself was in poor condition, with outdated furniture and a musty odor that made it uncomfortable to spend time in.
Furthermore, the hotel staff were unresponsive and unhelpful when I raised these concerns.

Staying at this resort for four days and just glad it isn't longer. Its probably the most depressing accommodation we have stayed in a long time. As a family group of four (three of whom are senior citizens) we were assigned a condo at the back of the resort. We had to climb one flight of stairs to enter the accommodation and anothrr flight to access the sleeping area, carrying four heavy suitcases and four bags of considerable weight. On entering we found we found it to be dark, dingy, and uninviting. The living area is dated. Dirty carpet and a old worn out suite which looks like it has never been cleaned. On removing a cushion we found various sweets, bracelet and spoon, obviously left by previous guests.. We were so disgusted we refrained from looking under the sofa cushions! The bedrooms are tiny and dark and we lived out of our suitcases for the duration of our stay. We had hot weather and with no air conditioning it was pretty uncomfortable. Fans were provided but only circulated the already warm air. We only discovered, when
reading other reviews on this site that some of the other accommodation available had been upgraded. We had obviously been allocated one of the older, dated condos at the back of the property and had we known we would have requested that we be moved to somewhere more suitable if possible! So disappointed at the quality and for the price we paid we could have stayed in the centre of Banff in a quality hotel. So please, if you are considering a stay here, and you like a good, clean, bright, modern style accommodation then this place isn't for you!

At the resort we have a free shuttle that takes you to the Banff Ptarmigan Inn (downtown area) from there you can take a different shuttle to the Banff Gondola.
If you are looking for something more direct you may want to contact the Banff Gondola direct to see if they have anything that would pick up from the hotels in Banff.
