We stayed 3 nights. Hotel reception staff were friendly and helpful (allowed us to rent bear spray from them instead of having to buy). Car parking was good. Hotel room was a very god size, a little dated perhaps, but no real issues with that. Lovely products used in the bathroom. Breakfast was simple, but they had an omlette station, which was a nice touch. Easy walk down the street to the main restaurants/bars area.
Hello, we booked this hotel stay through travelhub.airmiles.ca (via AirMiles) and in the description, AirMiles never mentions that this property does not have an AC in the hotel nor in the rooms. When we arrived at the hotel on July 25, inside the room was already 27C. We tried using the AC thermostat but never turn on. We called the reception and they stated that the hotel nor the rooms have AC. We were horrified. They provided a 2nd fan but to no avail. We opened the interior balcony door facing the dinning room and the mosquitos were welcomed in our room. We had to close the door again as we were eaten alive. Finally, we ended up not sleeping in a room with mosquitos and 27.5C. Just horrible, imbereable. We spoke to the manager Katy Lister and showed her the AirMiles Webpage where we booked our room and it never states that there is no AC in the rooms. They state other things not available in the hotel/room but never mentions about not having AC. We just could not sleep. If we have known that there was no AC in the room, we would have booked a different hotel. Therefore, Please do not be deceived by the nice pictures We asked for a refund from AirMiles and the Hotel both of them denied a refund. They would not care about our disconfort, they just want your money!!!! WARNING, NO AC in this hotel. Watch out, you will hot! :-( It was almost 600$ for 1 single night and we could not sleep at all.... JUST HORRIBLE AND TOO EXPENSIVE!!!! Plus extra taxes and booking fees!…
We stayed 6 nights here and we were satisfied with our stay. The employees were friendly and the room was clean. We got into town early and our room would not be ready til 4pm but the front desk gladly stored our luggage while we explored town. There is free breakfast in the morning. We only had it once but it was good. They have 2 floors of free underground parking, which is very convenient. It's on a space available basis. Only one night we had to park on the street but it's because we got back late. Only thing I wish could be improved is the lighting. The room is a little dark for my liking and my wife had a little difficult time doing her makeup. But no big deal. Would stay here again, especially since the location is very ideal. It's walking distance to everything and the main shuttle stop and grocery store is across the street. …
Stayed here for 3 nights on our tour of Alberta and BC. Fantastic staff, particularly the front desk team (who helped us with some lost items), and a very clean and comfortable triple room. Lovely interior, decorated in a more rustic style than other hotels we stayed in - which we loved. Bathroom spotless and modern. Fantastic location on Banff Avenue, just a 5 min walk into Downtown for some excellent shops and restaurants. Quiet too. We had breakfast included which was delicious. Also included was a free pass for the Roam transit system - use it!! It’s so useful to get to the Gondola and the Hot Springs. Overall, a lovely hotel and a great base to explore Banff, the beautiful lakes and the Rockies. Thank you!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay here. no view but it is close to everything anywhere you want to go to. We had our breakfasts in the hotel's restaurant. it is a short walk away from restaurants, a mall and sightseeings.
Great location to walk around Banff or catch the transportation to take you where ever you might want to sightsee. Our room was comfortable and clean. Great bathroom and shower. The spa area in the basement needs a good clean with some updating. The breakfast area was comfortable with a decent selection for a hot meal. However, we are vegetarians and don't eat eggs so for us the selection was a bit limited. We did not use the in house restaurant because the hostess just seemed a bit irritated all the time and Banff has such good food within walking distance we chose to try local eateries.
We stayed in here for one night and had a great sleep for sure. We entered the pasta restaurant and were told they were open by one wait staff and then told after we had drinks that it would take 45 mins for the kitchen to open. When we arrived we got in early enough to snag a great parking spot in the underground parkade but they did not tell us that there was a lot of construction going on inside the hotel for rooms as well as there only being one working elevator out of two. A little jammed but clean rooms. No view from the balcony other than the building next to the room.
Stayed overnight for 2 nights. Hotel originally built in 1972 but refurbished around 1996. The updates were very nicely done and still look great. Bed super comfortable, bathroom very clean. Rooms are smaller than what I have seen in newer hotels. Don't let this stop you from staying here. Restaurant onsite provides a FULL buffet breakfast, fantastic! Staff are courteous, professional. The only downfall is that the 2 original hot tubs were not updated in 1996. The jets were hardly functional, more a warm bath than anything. However, I didn't go to this hotel solely for the hot tub. Location is great, right downtown so that walking here and there is so handy. Price per room is pricy but it is Banff, it is what it is. Recommend you stay here.
We had a 3 night stay at the Ptarmigan as part of a Rocky Mountaineer trip which was extended another 10 days when we contracted Covid. During our isolation the staff went above and beyond what could have been expected of them, showing real care and concern for our well being. 10 days isolation in a hotel room is no fun but the staff at the Ptarmigan made it as comfortable as it could be. Can’t praise them enough. Without us asking the Ptarmigan dropped the room rate for our isolation stay to a more than reasonable level - I did not expect this, but, again, it was very much appreciated. After a ruined holiday (Rocky Mountaineer trip cancelled as was our Holland America inside passage cruise) their care and concern gave us a boost during a difficult period. A comfortable hotel in a great position near the centre of Banff. Excellent breakfast with omelettes made to order and a good selection of other breakfast choices. Thanks again to all at the Ptarmigan…
The hotel is situated in a good position in Banff , near shops snd restaurants surrounded by lovely views. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the beds of good quality and very comfortable. That is the good points. The bad points are the rooms, the hotel does not have air conditioning only heating. A small vent has air coming in but as reception told us if it’s hot it will be hot air and if it is cold it would be cold air. It was hot while we were there and we were put in a room with no outside windows, there was glass and a door that opened onto a balcony overlooking a meeting room! there was a meeting going on when we walked out. Some rooms have a balcony overlooking the lobby, also with a balcony. So with no window to open the heat at night was awful. Blinds covered the glass so we had no idea when it was morning or whether it was raining or sunny. I have stayed in many hotel rooms but this was the worst. It had a tiny bathroom without a mirror or basin. The basin was situated on a little unit next to the small hanging space. We moved rooms for our last night which had a proper bathroom and windows that looked straight on to another building and the windows didn’t open. Compared to other hotels we had stayed at during our time in Canada, all the others had a microwave, an iron and ironing board a shaving mirror, this hotel had none only a microwave down in the lobby for all to use .The hotel included breakfast but it was very poor compared to what other hotels offer. Such a shame as in general it was a nice hotel with a bar and pizza restaurant but the important comfort that is needed in a bedroom was missing.…
