Stayed here for one night on the evening of storm Arwen. A falling tree took out the power cable to hotel just as we were ordering dinner. The staff put candles on the table and carried on serving, with a real "in it together spirit" rather than trying to leave work early and go home .They could only give us what was already prepared or was cold had pate, lamb and cheesecake which were all delicious. They made sandwiches for other guests. Manager came round to each table to update us which was a nice touch. The staff all went above and beyond what was needed to make sure all their guest were looked after including keeping the lovely log fire going in the entrance hall as we gathered around it. The hotel exit and entrance was blocked by the fallen tree and some of the the hotel team and manager assisted the clearing of it, gaining the help of locals with machinery. Still had an enjoyable stay and would definitely return knowing nothing will phase the team here. Hotel set in beautiful surroundings. Luckily prior to the power failing managed to have a drink in the bar served by a very friendly bar tender and used the spa facilities earlier in the day, which we really enjoyed. Stayed In room 1 which had a four poster bed, lovely modern bathroom and beautiful views. Cannot wait for our next visit.…
First impressions- Just wow. The hotel is situated in a beautiful environment of Green, pure fresh air and lovely wildlife. A car is a must as it is quite far away from places to visit to get out and about. If staying on site, they do have a Pool,Sauna, steam room and restaurant/bar. If you want peace.. this is 100% the place for you. Inside you are welcomed with beautiful just recently added Christmas decor and a open wooden fire. Complimented with furniture and just a very homely feel to it. I could of just sat in front of the fire all day and night- too cosy. The staff are very welcoming and very helpful. The room was exactly what anyone would expect. Clean and comfortable- with a stunning view out of the window. Breakfast and Tea was offered but when it came to breakfast.. we couldn't get out of bed.. the bed was too cosy. For tea- there was a set menu and a great selection of drinks which we both thoroughly enjoyed.Bar staff was very pleasant too. Was lovely meeting you all. We miss the place already. Would I come again? 100% YES! Having a car was a bonus as it is situated quite out the way of places to go but this just added to how tranquil here was. Thank you…
We stayed as two couples, one in a four poster and one in the new build in a family room. the four poster room was large and traditional and while a little dated had a wonderful new bathroom. For being above the main entrance, car park and stairs very quiet for a Saturday night and we slept until after 8am. We stayed one night and had dinner here. Exceptional food and prices with a very good and reasonable wine selctions (cracking pinot noir for £20 a bottle). Small but good cocktail menus and log fires on all day long. The service at the reception, bar and breakfast was outstanding. The staff deserve the tips they really make up for some of the tired decor but to be honest adds to the surroundings and for that reason I will return and recommend! On a separate note, we walked to the hare and hounds from the hotel and its just over 1,5 miles away on the road which is fine through the day but not at night. You can book a taxi from Bowness which is set fair of £20 as they come from the village so charge you both ways, but worth it on those dark roads if walking back (we went for lunch through the day and highly recommend the lunch food!)…
My wife and I spent a lovely 3 nights in this gorgeous gem of a hotel with its roaring log fire. The gardens were very picturesque with a small ornamental lake with ducks.and the bedroom overlooked sheep grazing in the fields. The staff were very friendly and nothing was to much for them.
Hotel was clean and tidy, Stayed in four poster bed room (Room 1) and although could do with some modernising with features and some minor decoration around the hotel it was lovely, food was amazing in the restaurant, staff are kind and courteous and nothing is too much trouble. Pool are and jacuzzi are lovely and well maintained. Only negative was at breakfast we were served and then not spoken to again to order some more coffees. Will be back :)
