If you like to walk the beach there are lots of rocky sections. As has been mentioned there are 2 beaches with the pier jutting out in between. The sand under the palms where the chairs are by the Beach/Caribe is good but the other area by the Palace/Topical is rock with about 1” of sand on it. For swimming we avoided the Beach section because the water was stirred up and you could see the bottom and you couldn’t see what you were stepping on. The Tropical section is clear so you can see where you step and there are 2 large sandy areas to walk out/swim. The water is deep at both beaches. We’re beach people too and we spend all day there. The snorkeling and seeing all the fish as you walk in for us made up for the lesser beach. If you’re all about sand sand sand maybe not the beach for you.

The resort has five different sections each with their own lobby. Palace guests have run of the whole resort but the other four now seem to be on the same price plan. We stayed in the Beach part this year and these rooms look as though they have been recently refurbished. We have been on five occasions now and have enjoyed every one of our visits.
