Excelent Resort with small villas with kitchen, living room, terrace and spacious room. Food was great, service 10/10 Everything was clean and new. Fast internet and satellite tv. There are dedicated pools for kids/families and only adults. The hotel is in front of the beach but it's not recommended to enter into the sea as waves are very strong. Hotel is 30 mins away from Puerto Escondido's airport and the last 15 mins feel like you are lost as you need to drive off road a little bit. But once you arrive you will have everything you need there. It's recommended to bring groceries / drinks as the rooms have full kitchen and washing machine set.

The nicest resort in Puerto Escondido area! We always stay here when we go to P.E. as it is in a very quiet part of P.E. We love it!!! Stayed Nov 11th to 19th 2022
This time we stayed in property #131 and it was a wonderful 3 bedroom, 2 bath property with a great view of the pool, the beach and the pacific ocean. The waves can put you to sleep! My wife's favorite part of staying in this property #131 This property was very clean, updated with air conditioning in all bedrooms and living areas.
The restaurant was great with fast service and wonderful servers!! We loved Blanka and Flora and Oscar and who can forget Socretes!!! They are all very kind and very hard working. Time to get our meal was much faster than the last time we were at Vivo in June.
We participated in the baby turtle release and all we can say is, you must do it at least once!! So great!! We also saw some grey whales past just on the other side of the breaking waves!

We just returned and spent a week. Being it was our first time traveling in almost 16 months we are not sure what we should expect. We found the resort to be going above and beyond following health protocols to help protect all staff and patrons.
The food and service was exceptional in Ernestos. Although the one pool bar was closed the resort was fairly quiet and it was expected.
We arrived late and Carlos was able to arrange to have room service waiting four our arrival which was perfect.
Great place to relax and get away highly recomended.

We made the mistake of making a non-refundable reservation for April 2020. When hotels shut down because of the Covid pandemic, Vivo Resorts refused to refund the price we had paid or offer us alternative post-pandemic dates. Of course our reservation was "non-refundable," but under the circumstances of the pandemic, they should have at least offered us future accommodation for the price we had already paid. These people are dishonest as hell.

Vivo resort is first class but you could be at one of the big hotels on Miami Beach. the Hotel is located about
10 miles from the center of Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca. Northwest of the town of Chila a very Mexican little town Which goes to sleep at dark. A trip from the hotel into the city of Puerto is a major event getting one of the hotel buses or a cab. It is a winding narrow two lane road— one best not to drive at night. Everything is provide for at vivo— swimming pools. Restaurants; but it is very much a tourist hotel with many full time residents who have purchased a condo. Not much of the Oaxaca Mexican culture at the hotel. the fun and interesting Mexican town of Puerto Escondido is a gem with lots of great places to eat— a couple super Mercados— local artifacts for sale If you want to experience old Mexico go to Puerto. vivo is a great place to relax by the pool being served your favorite drink.

Hello thanks for your comments, The main feature of live is that it is an oasis in the middle of nowhere, a place to rest. Oaxaca and Mexican culture are throughout the hotel, in the decorations of the condominiums and restaurants, we have a stand in the store with Oaxacan artisans and different items (Mezcal, food, clothing and accessories). If you want to go out to visit the city of Puerto Escondio, we have the low cost transportation service that has departures at 10:30 am and 1 pm. Returning 4 pm and 7 pm. As well as different tours of all the surroundings of Puerto Escondido. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you and your family, we hope to see you again.

The room that we are staying in is beautiful. Top floor overlooking the ocean and the pools. However, major problem that would prevent us from ever coming back here… Absolutely no Internet service in the rooms at all. The resort “says” they have Internet and they provide a password for Wi-Fi but it’s completely useless and there’s absolutely no signal whatsoever. It sounds charming to say that you can disconnect however the reality is the world is connected these days and you have to access reliable Wi-Fi when you travel. Also the resort is very remote and located 25 minutes from town so it requires a $25 cab ride each way if you want to leave the resort. I read online that they have a hotel car to drive us but due to Covid they no longer transport guests. Lack of Internet and no transportation should absolutely be disclosed to potential guests in advance. 😡

Vivo is a great resort with wonderful pools, beaches, activities and location. The condos are owned by people who feel the need to scrutinize others. We booked privately via an owner who didn’t have a contract for us. We were told we would have no cleaning services and that was fine but what we were not told is that they were not a part of the rental pool so you have no access to anyone to clean or to do any maintenance. We rented for 6 weeks and there was only a broom left for cleaning. No cleaning supplies, no garbage bags, no soap, nothing. The closest town is a 500 peso cab ride. When we requested cleaning the resort had none and neither did the owners. In the mean time the dishwasher, ice machine, dryer and main air conditioning unit did not work… for the entire 6 weeks. We actually hired a family friend to clean for us on week two but she had to go get her own cleaning supplies as there were none in the condo for her to use as well as no dryer to dry sheets and towels.
We made due and didn’t complain as we should have but we are on vacation. On our last day we reminded the owner that there was no dryer and since we were washing our cloths and hanging them to dry we would not be able to do that with the towels and sheets we used that day. She said her cleaners would be in at noon to clean. We stripped the beds, put the towels in a pile by the laundry , swept the floors, did the dishes by hand and put them away and washed all countertops. We did leave the condiments and food in the fridge as we have done so before in other places we stayed with no concern. Two days later we get an email from the owner saying that her cleaner told her the condo was so dirty she had to pay her more. So the owner decides to cancel our reservation for January 2025 which we already paid for next year!
When I asked what was so dirty she has no idea, but her cleaner said so and so she said she would return our money so we could find another unit. This is the same cleaner who was not able clean for us for 6 weeks.
So buyer be ware! Book your stay directly with Vivo so you get the service and facilities as they want people to be satisfied with their properties. Those who chose not to rent via the rental pool have no access to cleaning or maintenance and really don’t care . If I am able to I will attach the pictures of our “dirty condo” and you be the judge!
With a “twisted mind” I will never recommend renting direct from this owner who was to cheap to provide cleaning services or supplies or an understanding of cleaning expectations.

If you're an owner here, I would seriously suggest you check on your investment. Every owner I talked to in the 3 days we stayed here was upset about the management staff or lack thereof. We booked a 3 bedroom penthouse and paid mote than $400 per night. When we arrived on Sat night they had 1 person working the front desk that spoke limited English. They put us in a different room (4 bedroom condo) and said that the 3 bedroom penthouse we booked was not available because of a "broken stairway". We later found out this was a blatant lie, it was overbooked because of a wedding party. Over the next 2 days there were many other lies and avoidance altogether. Avoid this property if at all possible, the management is horrible, the service is nonexistent, the food is sub par for a purported 4-5 star property, and they have zero hospitality training. If you do stay here prepare for major disappointment! Also, hope you don't need to use wi-fi, because it's slower than dial up. Cell service is also spotty because you're 5-6 miles down a dirt road from Puerto Escondido. You've been warned! Read the other reviews. The good ones are all from owners trying to keep their rental values up. I feel sorry for them.

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, 30 minutes away from the beach life. Is probably good for couples looking for a secluded nest, make sure to clarify first what you are looking for in your trip.
Wifi connection is very bad, and personally had a bad experience at check in: check in time was 3PM, it's 6.15PM and they are cleaning my room now...
For the price they charge (which is high compared to what Puerto Escondido has to offer) is not worth it.

The property is not a resort. Let’s start with that. It’s a bunch of private condominiums that are managed as a resort. If you’re planning on using WiFi at any point in your trip - RUN AWAY. The internet here is practically not existent. At <3mbps you’ll be lucky if a few of your emails loads. Most areas outside of the lobby have no WiFi and no cel signal.
There is also a tremendous amount of deferred maintenance at the property. You can see this from the flaking mirrors, yellow/stained towels, etc. We stayed at a penthouse suite and the problems were all over the place. The view is nice but the rooms are not well cared for. All in all, for the price I’d look somewhere else like Hotel Escondido. Bottom line, stay away.
If you’re a property owner here. I highly suggest you come take a look at how most of the properties are being ran to the ground. Most of the guests we spoke with were having the exact same issues. Most of the reviews here complaint about the same things. Sad no one is doing anything about is this could be an awesome place to stay.

Need to reserve one day ahead of time for 9 departure time with 4 people minimum and only has a return at 6pm. Not very flexible or convenient. Drop off and pick up is city center not at the beach area/tourist spot. I would check with the property to see if anything has changed.
There are more places to choose from in the Puerto Escondido area.
