Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The friendliest, scenic, idyllic & totally affordable campground you will find. Stunning views of the iconic Haruru Falls, swimming pool & free kayaks to explore the estuary up to Waitangi, cycle ride to Waitangi, fish, explore & relax & enjoy. We stayed here 40yrs ago, on our honeymoon camping holiday, & the campground has stayed true to the gorgeous surroundings. Michael & Campbell who own the complex are unbelievably accomodating, friendly & downright lovely guys...( thanks so much guys for your help & conversations). You will not regret staying here I can absolutely guarentee.

It felt like paradise. A cute little and quiet campground with a view at the Haruru falls, just awesome, particularly when it was dark. The sanitary facilities and kitchen were spot clean. The owner Michael is a superb host. Each morning and evening inquiring whether everything was to my satisfaction. As a result one night became three! This little gem is highly recommended.

A must stay destination. Don't be fooled by what appears to be an older style motel. The facilities are great, the owner/management totally helpful, and knowledgable about the local area, and the location is absolutely stunning - one of the best we have encountered on our many trips around the Motu/NZ. If you are hikers or bikers this is a fabulous location for easy access to a range of stunning tracks taking you around coastlines and to experience the stunning native forest of Northland. A must stop off for all to access Waitangi and spend time in that beautiful place to appreciate our cultural heritage and understand our NZ history and the importance of Te Tiriti - especially important at this time.

We have stayed many times here in the past and always been nice but with new owners it’s even nicer! Magic spot right by the falls, quiet and the falls are lit up at night. I saw some reviews said ablution block needed replacing but it’s nice and clean, been repainted and works perfectly. Love it here. Michael made us very welcome. Sites are well painted out so you know which site to go to. Awesome place.

After we traveled across South and North Island we wanted to stay our last days in Paihia and found Waterfalls Estate. How lucky we were. It is a beautiful place directly at the Haruru Waterfalls. We got a free upgrade for a beautiful room, tip-top clean, with kitchen and comfortable bed. Our first coffee of the day we enjoyed on our balcony with view to the Waterfalls. Free parking. Paihia with restaurants, shops and ferry is close. We got free kayaks and could paddle directly from the hotel in front of the waterfall. The location is perfect for several activities. We visited the Noth cap of New Zealand, the amazing dunes are on the way. We hiked on Urupukapuka, wonderful. Ferry goes daily from paihia, as well as to Russell. Even the hiking track from waterfall to paihia is awesome, through forest along the river and impressive mangroves, 7km, Diner in Pahia and back to hotel. We made an incredible helicopter flight and learned more about Maori history at the Waitangi treaty ground. The owners are very nice, lovely guys. We enjoyed our stay very much. Without a doubt, we would chose this place again. Thank you for the wonderful time ❤️

Really nice campground next to the Haruru Falls. From the campground you have a stunning view to the falls. There are hot showers, a kitchen and kayaks for using. Also there is a patio and a barbecue to use. And in addition Michael is a awesome host. He is one of the kindest people I've ever met. It was a very nice stay here.
