Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

This site is one of the best and neatest I have had the pleasure to have stayed in.The managers have invested a great deal of time and effort to present a quirky and special atmosphere and they deserve every accolade and support. The facilities were clean and many small touches made it stand out. The staff were friendly and at $30 a night for a powered site it was amazing value. It is within easy walking distance ot the town and situated next to the river. This place deserves support.

We have stayed here for the first time and are very impressed with the cleanliness and facilities. The bathrooms are older but spotlessly clean and same with the kitchen . The grounds are very well maintained and the powered sites have fresh water and a grey water drain which is very convenient. Being a smaller camp it is very quiet and more personal which we enjoy. Minutes walk to town with lovely walks along the river. Would highly recommend 😃

This camp is impeccably clean and very well equipped. It is clear from the presentation of the camp that the management are very passionate and committed to making your stay memorable for all the best reasons. The vege garden was amazing and guests are able to pick veges for themselves, which during these times of high food prices is very generous. We have been recommending this camp and they are a huge asset to Wairoa.

What a lovely, little motor camp. Husband and Wife duo, who shower you with kindness. The lovely grounds are so well maintained and the kitchen, toilets and shower facilities are top rate. The bbq area is so well laid out, every part of the campsite is visually loved. If you are every in Wairoa this is the place to stay for good genuine kiwi experience. Lovely xmas decorations still up while we were there, they looked amazing at night. Thank you so much, your friendly and welcoming generosity was well receivied. We'll be back!

Stayed here two nights in motor home in Sept. and just loved it. Lovely clean well cared for camp with excellent facilities and homely welcoming touches. Manicured Park like grounds and gardens with beautiful trees. Excellent location by river, supermarket and township. The bike and walk trail from the camp along the river bank is modern flat and stunning. This boutique camp is stand out and a tribute to its owners. We will be back.

This quaint vintage style camp is really clean, peaceful and friendly. It’s small and really feels like good old fashioned New Zealand. Unique in my travels. Very cheap. Impeccably maintained grounds. And a vege garden you can access. What a wee gem.

What a change from the big busy camps! Quiet, plenty of space, immaculately clean throughout. Well tended site. Can’t recommend it too highly. Superlative Ostlers pie shop just over the roundabout. Not to be missed !

On our recent 3 months road trip in our motorhome we stayed at 54 camps. Of these overnight stays for powered sites ranged from $30 to $58. Most had similar facilities but the most expensive (Top10 included) ones charged extra for WiFi and some for showers and other features. At Riverside Motor Camp we had everything for our $30!! Also very well kept grounds and a great location. It just could not be better.
